  1. Seth, So what's the story with that user name? best regards, lm
  2. Couldn't agree more. Not doubting rh4, but there's not much info to base any speculation on. No history (just joined 2 days ago), past diagnosis, sensitivities/intolerances. First time we've heard of any problems with gluten-free beer that I know of. I've had several, but I don't think I've really been glutoned yet so I don't know how much that means. Don...
  3. j, So how did it go? Any repercussions? I ate at Taco Bell two days ago and nothing. I guess I'm just one of the lucky ones (for now). That could change at some point & I could become dairy, soy, MSG, and everything intolerant. Hope not. best regards, lm
  4. gcj, Your the man! My hat's off to you. Last week my sister wanted me to make a flourless chocolate cake for Easter dinner using Tyler Florences recipe. I thought about it. Decided it was far too ambitious. Ended up getting some crap from Walmarts bakery. Wheels are off lately. best regards, lm
  5. d, If by "beef" you mean "ground beef taco seasoned meat", and not fajita type beef "strips" (although they too have seasonings on them), then I'm sure you are well aware that wheat flour or corn flour are commonly used as thickeners. When making taco meat, one is actually making a taco "gravy" with meat. Look at the directions on any package of taco...
  6. gfg, This is a different recipe than the original post. best regards,lm
  7. Thanks for the reply hp, doesn't sound promising. Boy, this Celiac thing sure does away with a lot of cheap dates! best regards, lm
  8. The tostado has beans but no beef. Just the opposite of a taco, beef but no beans. The beef does not contain wheat, but does contain oats (probably as a thickener), thus the gluten designation, (see link). Oats have oat gluten & likely wheat CC, they covered both bases (in practical terms however, any wheat content would be extremely small, if at all...
  9. j, Good point. But that's easy enough to fix, for the administrator. I've often wondered why CC isn't flagged the same as g f. best regards, lm
  10. t, First off, that's a cool name, Tiki. There's some great user names around here, but for some strange reason I decided to use my real name (boring!). Actually, I thought it would be easy to remember since I have already used it on other forums. I have enough trouble remembering passwords much less user names. Anyways, I would highly recommend getting...
  11. n, That's good, I like it too. Ya got a live one there Nance! best regards, lm
  12. mo4, Twas long ago when I worked there, but they had the oil down pretty good even then. The oil was filtered, monitored and such. You have to go to extreme lenghts to produce a good quality product. One thing about Frito Lay, they are a top notch company, the best in my book. Actually a Pepsico company. I'm sure things are all computerized now and...
  13. hg, That's strange. I replied to Libbyk 's post this morning. But it was on the normal forum (at least I thought it was). Guess that's what I get for getting up at 4:30 this morning. Sorry all! best regards, lm p.s., Boy, ya can't get anything past happygirl. She's one smart gluten-free cookie!
  14. e, I haven't seen a difference in my muffins. I was using 1
  15. nm, Thanks, I didn't know that. After your post I googled it and your right. best regards, lm
  16. bo, Not being knowlegable about everything you have, I'd like to just make one comment regarding eating out. Instead of trying to eat before and planning to just sit and watch others eat, make sure the place you go has something you can order. I don't see in your post that you can't have steak or chicken. Maybe not buttery steak, but what about simple...
  17. jkm, I'd recommend the 55 gallon container. You never know when you may have guests drop in! best regards, lm p.s., sorry ngg!
  18. pnltbox27, Here's some reading from google: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link And some previous threads: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link best regards, lm
  19. LK, May I suggest Eden Organic Tamari Soy Sauce, it's quite tasty! I've always been pretty particular about soy sauce, Kikkomans my brand (ex). The few unfortunate times I got cheap and tried something such as Kroger brand, I quickly returned it for a refund. Is the Edens gluten-free? You tell me. Here's the ingredients: ~ water ~ organic soybeans...
  20. pnltbox27, That's a new one. Can't wait till ya get to the stuff you do eat! Just kidding. That's a good question. All the research I did convinced me it is gluten-free. I was wavering until I visited our gluten-free restaurant and discovered blue cheese on the menu. Some of the bottled products at the store list wheat on the ingredients. Not sure...
  21. Hey Kolka (love that wild, crazy name), Whatever I bake (be it loaf, buns, or muffins), I melt a little butter, and dipping into it with my cave man like fingers, level out the batter (yes, it's messy, but don't you find baking to be a mess?). That way it rises more uniformly. Plus, somewhere I read that more butter never hurts (oh yeah, I wrote that!...
  22. Hi Peter, All the attention has been on Menu Foods, but what about this Chinese company? Are they selling all of their product to Menu Foods? Where is the rest going? Surely more of the contaminated wheat gluten went somewhere. And have you noticed something else? I follow the news very closely, and haven't heard one single thing from the Chinese company...
  23. Hi Deb, It's not going at all. The train's stuck on the tracks. I made one initial attempt and haven't made any bread since. Yes, the bread man has been breadless, save for my beloved muffins. I basically used my regular muffin recipe, with less sugar, no nuts, and no cinnamin & turbinado sugar sprinkled on top. Used my hamburger pans (small...
