  1. I'm so sorry for your loss. You must have been a great comfort for her these last six months. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
  2. If the turkey was cooked with the stuffing in then no we can't eat it. Also if lots of flour is floating around from biscuits or desserts then it will cross contaminate all the other food. We can bring our own food with us but it is always dangerous for us to eat food prepared in others homes unless strict precautions are taken to eliminate the CC risk.
  3. It doesn't sound like you have really been gluten free before your tests. There is a bit of a learning curse to the diet. Keep in mind that even on a full gluten diet some of us have negative blood tests. After you are done with testing then give the diet a good strict try. Going with whole unprocessed foods at first is the best way to go.
  4. Please do not smoke herbal incense. It is one thing to breathe incense floating in the air it is another entirely to deliberately draw the smoke into your lungs. As for stuff like K2 etc that would likely make the effects seem worse and since gluten can impact brain chemistry and can cause changes in mood mixing in another substance that also impacts the...
  5. Different labs use different scales. We need to have the reference range to be able to tell you anything. Also they should have done more tests than just the TTG for the celiac panel. They also should have run your B12, iron and hopefully your levels for vitamin D. Those are often low in us. The celiac panel does have false negatives also so after you are...
  6. If you have only been gluten-free for a week or two you could try getting the celiac blood panel done immediately. You could call your doctors office and see if they will call the order in to the lab or if you can pick up a slip. You do have a risk of a false negative and if you have been gluten-free for more than a couple weeks you would be better off doing...
  7. Call your doctors office. Many times another med can be substituted and also on occasion an office will have sample packets that they can give you.
  8. I would call and ask the company on monday to be on the safe side. Sorbital while not a gluten issue can be a problem also for some of us. Maybe until then would Pepto Bismal liquid perhaps help a bit?
  9. Hopefully your doctor is going to monitor you progress with the supplements. Too much vitamin A is not a good thing so be sure to follow the supplement regime your doctor advises and don't overdo the supplements. A more serious concern is that your antibody levels are not coming down. What are you typically eating? Are you going with whole unprocessed foods...
  10. Have you seen any signs that she may be getting cross contaminated anywhere? Craft supplies, snacks at school, sharing condiments at home etc? Does she have any issues with dairy or soy? If she is having some issues in addition to the lack of weight gain and growth it might be helpful to eliminate soy and casien for a bit or to keep a food diary to see if...
  11. For some of us gluten is a definate neurotoxin. It can effect us mentally long before serious gut issues show up. Although the increase in gas is a GI related issue it seems the major issue for you is the mood issues, at least at the moment. You have a wise husband to have picked up on this. As stated celiac is strongly genetic and your child had to have...
  12. Yea I get delayed reactions also. Sometimes the offending food is even a couple of days back which can make it really hard to figure out. A food diary can be helpful in figuring out delayed reactions.
  13. Count me in on that vote also.
  14. For hair care Suave, Dove and Garneir will label gluten clearly. I use the Garneir skin and hair products daily. There are a few companies that do gluten free make up. I don't usually wear it so don't know the names off hand. Joelle is one, they actually have an advertisement showing on the side bars at the moment. There are others. You might want to do a...
  15. The stress of having your hubby home could throw off your periods. It isn't just bad stress that can do that good stress can also. Celiac can definately lead to fertility issues and miscarriages but the doctors don't really know why. At one time it was thought to be nutritional issues but research has shown that is not the case. It is still a medical mystery...
  16. Your family needs to understand how sick you son can get from gluten if he needs to be gluten free. Do make sure you don't take your son gluten free until all the testing, including the endoscopy if he is having one, is finished. There is a high rate of false negatives in both adults and children so a diet trial needs to be done no matter what the results...
  17. As you have seen Wiki is not the best of places for medical info. If you need to do searches for medically related stuff the National Institute of Health and WebMd are two examples of better places to go for information. I have no idea how to edit stuff on Wiki, but I do know anyone can do so whether they really know their subject well or not.
  18. What is going on is by giving your little ones gluten occasionally you are doing gluten challenges. Their reactions are positive. It does sound like they also need to be strictly gluten free. Because they have been gluten light you would need to have them do a full out gluten challenge to have any chance of accurate testing. Even then they have a good chance...
  19. It's just me now and the cost is about $50 a week. I buy meat in bulk and freeze most of it. I get pork chops one week, chicken the next, sometimes a big roast if they are on sale which I then cut up into small ones. The only gluten free specialty stuff I get on a weekly basis are bread and pretzels and sometimes a cake mix. I do a lot of rice, pasta (I use...
  20. Or the root cause of your depression could be celiac. It can have that effect on people. There is some new research that is encouraging doctors to test folks with depression that do not respond to meds. Did the doctor do the celiac panel or just blow you off with the IBS 'diagnosis'?
  21. There are quite a few folks here that are selfdiagnosed. If you feel you can stick to the diet for life without a diagnosis then go ahead keep on the diet. If you think you need a diagnosis then do keep eating gluten and get tested but keep in mind that up to 20% of us have false negatives on testing. Glad to hear the diet is helping and the choice to test...
  22. I could be wrong but I think the glutino also have soy flour. I go for the Ener-g Wylde ones and they are often my snack of choice. I have tried the Snyders, they do have the lecithin but I am okay with that but not soy flour or protein. The Snyders are good also and just as 'addicting' and a bit less expensive than the Wylde.
  23. You say your family is not gluten free. Have you gotten your own dedicated toaster, cutting boards and do you use great care to make sure you are not sharing stuff like nut butters, condiments etc that can have been double dipped by someone eating gluten? Your reactions are getting more severe because because when you are getting glutened the antibodies are...
  24. There can be many reasons for low iron and anemia. Are you female? Heavy periods can be one cause if you are. You say this is the first test in years, do you know what the levels were before you went gluten free? Are you getting enough iron rich foods in your diet? To the OP, you need to be back on gluten for at least a couple of months before testing...
  25. I have to disagree that celiac doesn't kill people. The inflammation that celiac creates can have some very dire results when it goes undiagnosed for years and years. I was very close to death when I was finally diagnosed. My kidneys were permanently damaged, my heart is enlarged and by the time I was diagnosed I had been having D daily and nightly for over...
