  1. Chances are real good that this is still safe but do keep in mind that the original post is a couple years old. Usually it is best to call and check to be sure as companies can and do change ingredients.
  2. I am glad they are getting you in quickly. You can start the diet the day the biopsy is done, there is no need to wait for the results.
  3. Now you put the med away and do the diet strictly for a few months. She has a positive blood test and many endoscopic changes that are indicitive of celiac. Whether your doctor knows that the changes are the ones you would see with celiac before the villi are totally destroyed is doubtful. There is also 22 ft of small intestine and the damage can be spotty...
  4. The key to everything is in this statement. Some of us are 'lucky' and only get an upset tummy or a rash when glutened. Others however have severe neuro impact that can frankly make us very irrational. The folks that don't have that impact might find it hard to understand our Jeckle and Hyde personality under gluten. Under gluten we are, to use a not politically...
  5. I also consider the GMO foods to be well..not such a good idea. All we can do is try to avoid them as much as humanly possible.
  6. If you are taking folate that can cause the B12 to look falsely high. Do you know what the actual numbers are? If they are below 500 you should think about supplementing the B12. And yes those numbers could be in normal levels and you could still be celiac.
  7. You do sound like you and the kids are in the right place. Noone can make the choice about the biopsy for your little one for you. It is usually an easy procedure but he will be under anesthesia. There is also a chance of a false negative. The drop in percentile is significant, my son also had this effect and going from 75th to 10th in 5 months is something...
  8. My house is gluten free and was so even when my young adults lived at home. It was easier that way and I am supersensitive and my DD had seen the effects a little bit of gluten had on me and had no problem with not eating it at home. Then she was diagnosed 6 months after I was so we had no issues then with it at all. There is a lot that can be made gluten...
  9. Sometimes the sores can come just from the braces rubbing, be sure to mention it to your doctor. I doubt that the elastics have anything on them but you could rinse them under water before putting them in and see if it helps.
  10. I hope you have been to the doctor by now. Let us know how your doing when you can. That sounds like it was pretty scary and I wouldn't wait to get it checked out.
  11. It sounds like the facial pain may be nerve related along with some of your other issues. Some sublingual B12 might be helpful with healing the nerve issues. Just make sure to let your doctors know you are taking it. I hope they get you in for the endo soon. If the schedule it a ways away try asking to be on a cancellation list if it is possible for you to...
  12. Hopefully if one company is making these someone else will soon also and do them without the soy. We can keep our fingers crossed. Or learn to make them ourselves, probally easier than trying gluten free phyllo which I also miss.
  13. They are my favorite ready made crust. I always keep some on hand. I like to freeze the left over pizza sauce flat since I don't use a whole can on one and then with some Hormel pepperoni also on hand and cheese they make a quick filling no fuss meal. I have also baked them brushed them with olive oil and garlic and used them with hummus and thought that...
  14. If it is just white rice I don't worry about the brand I just make sure I rinse and 'pick' it if needed throughly before I use it. The brand of wild and brown rice I use is Lundberg and I have never had an issue with them, I don't think those would work with Risotto but that company may have a suitable rice that would work.
  15. I find this rather harsh. This gluten-free lifestyle can be frustrating and difficult especially in the beginning. This is the one place many of us have to vent out frustrations safely. And sometimes we need to do so. Not everyone who vents their frustrations complains about everything, sulks, complain to hostesses, makes our family miserable or think that...
  16. I haven't had any problems with a frosty either, although I haven't had one in a while. The McD's fries well.... not worth the risk to me. Others have reported eating them with no issues but I don't seem to tolerate them.
  17. There are some here like myself who consider both gluten intolerance and celiac to be the same thing. Both cause antibodies to attack the body and both need to be just as concerned with small amounts of gluten. You do need to be just as strict. If you are going to pursue a biopsy do not go gluten free yet. However it seems you have a wise doctor who has given...
  18. It depends on the store, in Wegmans they have a seperate area right in the center of the produce where it is cut and nothing else is cut there and I have never seen an employee eating in that area. In my local smaller grocery store I now won't touch it. I kept getting mystery glutenings and eventually I peeked in the back room where they cut veggies and the...
  19. I would call the restaurant and ask to speak with the chef, they may need to call you back. They should be able to feed you something, a plain steak and baked potato or a salad and some steamed unseasoned veggies etc. If not then make a few calls to the better restaurants in the area and see if another might accomodate you. My DD is getting married in...
  20. Your blood test was positive, you are in the right place. If your doctor is referring you to a GI doctor for a biopsy don't go gluten free until that is done. After that test is done, if you choose to have it, you can go gluten free. Do check what your B12 levels are, if they are under 500 it might benefit you to supplement with a sublingual B12 for a while...
  21. Yea everything she said. I hope they get you in for a biopsy soon and that you get some answers. As soon as testing is done give the diet a shot. You don't have to wait for the results.
  22. I agree that a lot of the suffering in this country would be alleviated. I also agree that many of the diseases you mention can be linked to undiagnosed celiac, especially since many in my family have had multiple systems impacted. Would it 'cure' everything, of course not, would the US health system save a great deal of money by looking for celiac first...
  23. Have your sisters and Mom been tested for celiac? If you are diagnosed they should also be at least tested. It may give some relief to them also. In additon sublingual B12 may help your nerves heal a bit faster.
  24. Yes does sound like you have been glutened. It can take a week or two to pass completely. Eating out is risky for us and the pita bread on top of the chicken would be enough to do it. I hope you feel better soon.
  25. The original poster stated they were still getting small amounts of gluten in their diet and that the gas was linked to that. That was what I was responding to. There are some of us who are gas free without gluten, like myself, there are others of course who have the issue related to other foods.
