A lot of things can make you sick that don't necessarily have anything to do with your being gluten free. Sometimes the types of foods you eat give you a face reaction...hell, I can't eat Udi's brand at all because I have one of these... types of days (please tell me y'all got that..hahah) but that has to do with how the product is processed, my gluten...

modiddly16 replied to M&M LOVER's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
High Fructose Corn Syrup is fine in moderation....no one has to put their candy back on the shelf! I mean, you have impressive abs so I'm sure you don't eat candy but a lot of us don't look like that and tend to enjoy a snickers now and then....but you...you go on with your bad self and that rockin 100 pack! -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Like Being Celiac
modiddly16 replied to runningcrazy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't really like being a celiac but I do like educating people about it! Most people I talk to are quite interested in learning more about it and I think the more educated people are on the disease, maybe the more I'll end up liking it in the future when more places offer items for us to enjoy! (that may have been the longest sentence ever...I had to breath... -
Starbucks actually has several options they consider gluten free and they sell items in their store that are gluten free, a brand of cookies (but have Oats so I can't have them) and some other options. Certain lattes and other drinks are not safe for celiacs but straight up coffee is fine. I am a pesonal fan of the peppermint hot chocolate and the green...

ARCHIVED What's The Deal With Post's Fruity Pebbles Cereal?
modiddly16 replied to JennyW's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I too have eaten both of the pebbles for close to 7 years without ever having an issue. I'm not sure I've heard of anyone being sick from it either, on this board, but sometimes threads get a little too long for my attention span. Your daughter is young and maybe the cereal is a bit more sugar than she's accustomed to? -

ARCHIVED Recurring Shingles

You can definitely get shingles more than once. My boyfriend who is not a celiac has gotten three cases of shingles in the past year, which is rare but it is possible. -
ARCHIVED Diagnosed Celiacs And Not Following The gluten-free Diet 100%?
modiddly16 replied to SaraKat's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I used to cheat back around when I was first diagnosed, it was almost like an eating disorder, I'd go on gluten binges when I knew I didn't have anywhere to go on weekends..After each time, I didn't understand why I'd do it because the stuff didn't even taste that good to me anymore. Finally, I grew up and just realized I'd never be better (or as good as... -

ARCHIVED Do I Have To Avoid Glutenous Toiletries If Not Dh?
modiddly16 replied to RachelisFacebook's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I'm not sure how accurate the gluten through the skin thing is. All of the studies I've ever seen says otherwise. I do not avoid gluten containing products because I don't have DH and I've honestly never noticed any problems. Some people well say that you get shampoo in your mouth without realizing it, which is possible but even though I'm sensitive,... -

I always have immodium on hand for emergency purposes and have been known to use them to stop things every once in awhile should I have an important event or meeting that I have to be there for. I know its hard sometimes to control that type of feeling but it really is best to get that stuff out of your system...immodium just backs it up and you'll have...

Has anyone tried Rudi's gluten free breads?? I react to the Udi's brand so I was wondering what anyone's luck was with Rudi's. How random is it that they both have the most similar names? Way to confuse us all!!

ARCHIVED King Arthur Flour Gluten Free!
modiddly16 replied to GlutenCanKissMyButt's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I made the pizza dough and thought it was really good but be careful...my dough was pretty runny which made it hard to flatten into the crust, it really does rise!! I'd recommend using a little less liquid but I really enjoyed them! -

ARCHIVED Udi's gluten-free Bagels And Severe Nausea?
modiddly16 replied to missingpasta's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
No Worries I'm pretty easy going!! I'd just never intentionally offend anyone!! I definitely get what you're saying about unreliable testing for other intolerances but i'm 100% sure I don't have anything other than celiac disease...gluten and oats intolerance. I even have tried experimenting with other products that have the exact same ingredients as Udi... -
