    Karen, peppers are nightshades. Salax, google szechuan peppercorn and see if it might spice things up for you. I'm guessing an asian market would carry it. Regular groceries might as well, I've just never looked for it.

    I would not hesitate to go for a 504 if I felt the need for one . . . and will in the future if I ever do feel that need. I believe that the need for a 504 is dependent on the age of the child and the circumstances. My daughter has always self-advocated for herself.     Our grass IS toast. We were DOWN to only 90 on Sunday and we were all happy about it. This week we're in the high 80's and just down right exstatic. I wish it would rain.

    Just wanted to throw out that I am a parent that needed an official diagnosis to get an accommodation at school. I did not have to go through a 504 process . . . the school was perfectly willing to work with a note from my daughter's doctor.

    The pharmacy can also provide you with an empty but duplicate bottle w/label. I've had to do this for the school since they required the actual bottle and I needed it for something else at the same time.

    It doesn't have to be more expensive. Fruit, veggies, and meat are the same as before. Rice, potatos, eggs, dairy . . . the same. There are main stream cereals . . . rice/corn chex, Kix.     Happy 4th all!! We had a hot one here . . . Smackl is on the TKD demo team so he had to perform in the 4th of July parade here . . . two miles with constant demos along the route.     I just want to mention that the "May contain traces . . . " or "Manufactured in a facility that also produces . . . " is a totally voluntary statement made by the manufacturer and is not required by law. If you want to know if a facility is a dedicated gluten free facility, you'll have to call the manufacturer.

    But are you eating the pasta salad pretty much immediately? Have you ever refrigerated it overnight? My old gluten recipe, I made the pasta salad the day before so that all the ingredients/dressing/flavors would meld.

    Karen (or anyone else), Have you actually made a gluten free pasta salad? I know that I sometimes refrigerate cooked (unsauced) pasta that I will heat up (in water) a day or two later.     What this means is that for the generic terms of "natural flavoring" or "seasonings", Kraft will put something like "natural flavoring (derived from barley)" so that you know when you read the label if something is hidden in the generic term. Other good companies that do this are Unilever and ConAgra.

    As a kid . . . ketchup on eggs, ketchup on bologna, ketchup on bread . . . anything really. UNTIL . . . mom tried to save money (five of us kids eating ketchup on anything) and made "home-made" tomato juice & vinegar ketchup. Cured us all of our ketchup addictions. Grandma always did the salt on watermelon thing. I tried it but didn't go for it...
