  1. I haven't ever used almond flour just by itself so I'm not really sure how it behaves. Like bunnie, I think that looks like plenty of eggs. I was just wandering if you have ever tried them without adding the berries (putting the berries on top afterward?) . . . just thinking like an engineer here that the berries cause a discontinuity and a place for...
  2. No No No . . . you're GLOWING . . . you're dripping with glowness!! Ummm . . . . . . OK
  3. Karen, peppers are nightshades. Salax, google szechuan peppercorn and see if it might spice things up for you. I'm guessing an asian market would carry it. Regular groceries might as well, I've just never looked for it.
  4. I think I'm going to move to Oregon . . . seriously . . . It's on the short list for retirement locations.
  5. I would not hesitate to go for a 504 if I felt the need for one . . . and will in the future if I ever do feel that need. I believe that the need for a 504 is dependent on the age of the child and the circumstances. My daughter has always self-advocated for herself. I'm lucky in that she has never tried to cheat on this diet. She has ramifications...
  6. Our grass IS toast. We were DOWN to only 90 on Sunday and we were all happy about it. This week we're in the high 80's and just down right exstatic. I wish it would rain.
  7. Just wanted to throw out that I am a parent that needed an official diagnosis to get an accommodation at school. I did not have to go through a 504 process . . . the school was perfectly willing to work with a note from my daughter's doctor.
  8. The pharmacy can also provide you with an empty but duplicate bottle w/label. I've had to do this for the school since they required the actual bottle and I needed it for something else at the same time.
  9. It doesn't have to be more expensive. Fruit, veggies, and meat are the same as before. Rice, potatos, eggs, dairy . . . the same. There are main stream cereals . . . rice/corn chex, Kix. The expense comes with the specialty foods like the gluten free bread and gluten free cookies . . . which are not mandatory in your diet (but nice to have). Don't over...
  10. I often get some form of "Well, that's a healthy diet to follow." and the smarta$$ in me always responds . . . "yep, cheetos and skittles are gluten free."
  11. If you need a cheetos type fix and want to stay away from the cheetos, you might want to try "Tings" Open Original Shared Link Use to be labeled under "Robert's Gourmet" but looks like they maybe switching to "Pirate Brands" . . . not sure. They are the same company that makes pirate booty & veggie booty if you are familiar with that. ...
  12. Happy 4th all!! We had a hot one here . . . Smackl is on the TKD demo team so he had to perform in the 4th of July parade here . . . two miles with constant demos along the route. Temps at parade time in the low 90's but high humidity. Lost two kids (had to ride in the support truck) along the way due to heat. Then Smackl had to work the booth at the...
  13. Add Unilever to that list. All good here with those companies.
  14. I just want to mention that the "May contain traces . . . " or "Manufactured in a facility that also produces . . . " is a totally voluntary statement made by the manufacturer and is not required by law. If you want to know if a facility is a dedicated gluten free facility, you'll have to call the manufacturer.
  15. But are you eating the pasta salad pretty much immediately? Have you ever refrigerated it overnight? My old gluten recipe, I made the pasta salad the day before so that all the ingredients/dressing/flavors would meld.
  16. Karen (or anyone else), Have you actually made a gluten free pasta salad? I know that I sometimes refrigerate cooked (unsauced) pasta that I will heat up (in water) a day or two later. My refrigerated gluten free pasta is pretty hard. I wouldn't think it would do well as a pasta salad . . . but I have never actually tried it. Is it a matter of having...
  17. You're probably right . . . I'd end up getting too attached and spending way too much money on shelter, fencing, electronic surveillance cameras and alarms. Plus, I doubt that my pirate landlubber would build me any critter traps. Hey, did ya find me a french horn or trumpet at yer big rummage sale?
  18. Awwwwwww!!! I would so get me some chkvrbs if I could.
  19. What this means is that for the generic terms of "natural flavoring" or "seasonings", Kraft will put something like "natural flavoring (derived from barley)" so that you know when you read the label if something is hidden in the generic term. Other good companies that do this are Unilever and ConAgra.
  20. Is this by your house, Jess? Is this sign referring to you? Ummmm . . . grab him where, exactly? . . .
  21. Love, love, love Pavlova!! A big favorite here is crustless pumpkin pie. You would need a sub for the dairy portion, but it is super easy to make . . . just follow the directions from the can of libby's and pour into a lightly greased pie pan and cook as directed. Whip cream (separate) for those that want it. When I make it for Thanksgiving, I make...

    ARCHIVED Overwhelmed

OK . . . just bring me up to speed so I don't have to go looking in your posting history. Where were you? . . . and is this just a visit or are you back for awhile/good? Enjoy yourself!!
  23. As a kid . . . ketchup on eggs, ketchup on bologna, ketchup on bread . . . anything really. UNTIL . . . mom tried to save money (five of us kids eating ketchup on anything) and made "home-made" tomato juice & vinegar ketchup. Cured us all of our ketchup addictions. Grandma always did the salt on watermelon thing. I tried it but didn't go for it...
  24. It's not looking good for us here, today. 93 degrees at 11 am. <insert.sweaty.emoticon.here>
  25. <insert.jealous.emoticon.here> My ideal location would have a temperature range of 48 to 76 . . . for the highs. It's allowed to get colder than that at night. Is that what you've got, Jess? Purple, where 'bouts are you getting frost? You don't have to be specific . . . but in general, where are you?
