ARCHIVED Just Testing Out Polls
Darn210 replied to JoshB's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
By the way . . . I wanted to officially answer the poll in question, but I wanted to add some disclaimers (as I often do in polls) . . . My dog does not like question #1 or #2 at all (umm, yes, I know, not a choice.) However, if there are dog treats associated with either #1 or #2, then my dog likes them a lot. OK, carry on. -

ARCHIVED Symptoms Without Delayed Growth In Child
Darn210 replied to nicolebeth's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My daughter's growth was never an issue. She was diagnosed via bloodtest after presenting with some generic GI issues (acid reflux with regurgitation and constipation although we weren't sure if that was Celiac related or a love of milk and not enough water). After going gluten free, there was no extra growth or anything, she remained on the same growth... -

Or stick with the prepackaged dilly bars. Now, I know that people aren't a big fan of McDonald's here, but their McFlurries are very blizzard-like and a bit cheaper. Now, they don't have near the flavor options, but what the do have going for them is that the "mixer" for the flurry is actually the spoon that you get to eat it with so each one is made... -

I just want to say . . . knowing Emily as well as I do . . . she's lying right there. Yeah, I think Josh headed for the safety of some other thread after this one was hijacked. -
Absolutely do not eat food that you are not comfortable eating, but don't let him prepare a gluten free meal that you know you are not going to eat.

ARCHIVED How Would A Gluten Free Chex Mix Go Down With The Glutenoids
Darn210 replied to kellynolan82's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Absolutely!!! I use to make chex mix often . . . then they came out with it in the store. I always liked my home-made better but sometimes convenience won out. Now I'm back to making it only at home. I often have it at parties or take it to parties and I always get compliments on it because it's better than store bought. I always stick with the traditional... -
OK . . . so I'm all about the details. When is this event and how many people are invited? Is this something that he could have catered/brought in? Say PF Changs (where you can get gluten free)? Is this something that could be turned into a pitch-in dinner where he provides the main (glutenous) dish but other people bring in the sides/dessert (easier...

ARCHIVED Just Testing Out Polls
Darn210 replied to JoshB's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
. . . and I just have to add, that it never seems to fail, if you give me a "Rank it on a scale from 1 to 5", I want to give something a 4.5. If you give me a "Scale from 1 to 10", then I want to choose 7.5. If you give me "Always, Sometimes, or Never", then I choose "Almost Always but not Always Always". -

ARCHIVED Cracking Skin On Fingers
Darn210 replied to Greg Rappaport's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Just to throw in a . . . "it doesn't necessarily have to be related" . . . I get cracks on my fingers sometimes to the point of bleeding. It was always worse in the winter. Always worse when I've been cleaning . . . so I just stopped cleaning . . . . . . just kidding. Actually, I switched from some of the harsher chemicals that I was using to more natural... -

ARCHIVED How Long Before Normal?
Darn210 replied to Karmann's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My daughter got a lot better within about 2 months. However, she had a reoccurring issue that would rear up about every three weeks. I, of course, kept running around in circles trying to figure out what was contaminated or if there was another food intolerance. Then at about the 8 month mark, the every three weeks was four weeks then six weeks then gone... -
ARCHIVED Nursemaid's Elbow
Darn210 replied to salexander421's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter had it . . . and she is the celiac in the family. When the doc popped it back into place, she showed me how to do it. She said if a child has it happen once, she is likely to have it happen again . . . and she did, two more times. The doc said they grow out of it as the muscles develop and stabilize the joints better. -

Twas not there. I was outside when the storm hit though. It got all dark and spooky and we were making comments that it look like it would be a doosie or somtin' and then it hit in an instant and we ran for cover. All Right!!! Party at Lisa's house!!! That's fantastic news. Nothing like an unexpected windfall . . . plus a kick-ass raise... -
