  1. I think my cookies do better (less spread) after refrigerating. Got dough that I made yesterday that I will be baking later tonight. I have also frozen my dough to use much later and it has turned out fine. With my refrigerated dough, I pound/roll into a log and just slice off 1/4" circles place on a pan and bake . . . like the Pilsbury dough that we...
  2. With it being only a couple of days in, you are still making that mental comparison to the gluten bread . . . that will go away with time. Love the idea of eating some EnerG bread and then the Udi's My daughter's first bread was the Kinnikinnick . . . small, frozen, couldn't pry it apart, crumbly once you did. You eventually get use to...
  3. Makes me think Medusa . . . Is this what gluten head looks like?
  4. Heeeeeeeyyyyyy . . . I saw my first Snowy owl last weekend. They don't normally come this far south. People are driving in from all over to take a gander because it is so rare (from what one of my birding friends said, this is like the third time in 10 years that one has been sighted and hung around long enough for people to travel to see it.) I was fortunate...
  5. Don't be worried about "special" meaning $$$$ . . . there are many regular products that are safe. We use Dove soap, shampoo and conditioner. Suave products are OK as well.
  6. You mentioned earlier that you would be taking your house gluten free. I just want to remind you that your husband needs to stay on gluten until all testing (blood and endoscopy) is done. Otherwise you greatly increase your risk of a false negative.
  7. Emily, I think Peter is talking to you!! Don't you still have sweaty hockey gym bags laying about your house?? That Christmas tree is NOT masking the smell, honey. Oh, you soooo need a kitteh in that house!!! I'm gonna mail you one for Christmas!! Maybe you should let Jess get you one, she has lotsa luck finding kittehs...and chickens....
  8. Jeez-O-Pete!! Wow Lisa, you make my day sound relaxing and stress free. Glad you got your car back.
  9. Rose is talking about the recipe section on celiac.com The biscottie are these: https://www.celiac.com/articles/463/1/Biscotti-Super-Easy---Gluten-Free/Page1.html I'm guessing the cookies #3 are the chocolate chip cookies #3 . . . https://www.celiac.com/articles/466/1/Chocolate-Chip-Cookies-3-Gluten-Free/Page1.html or possibly the ginger...
  10. We eat the fries . . . no problems for us and as my good friend Peter says . . . your mileage may vary.
  11. Are you sure you're wining enough? If you're gonna switch to wodka, throw a little OJ in there with it . . . you know . . . to make it healthy.
  12. HiYa T, Good to see you back. Glad your getting some answers and hope you will soon get some relief . . . might I make a suggestion? Yeah . . . wine!! . . . wine anytime, anyplace!! . . . I know some people may disagree with me, but wining is quite theraputic! (hic)
  13. I don't have any scientific data to throw out here, but I will tell you that I've seen accounts from members on this board over the years that have played it both ways . . . The celiac disease had the immune system so ramped up/constantly ON that they were never sick before diagnosis . . . now they catch every cold that comes along. The celiac disease...
  14. Marilyn!! I think that's fabulous. Keep up the good work and I think I will add it to my repertoire of Dr. visit chit-chat . . . and anybody else thinking of following Marilyn's example, don't forget to remind your OB/GYN's that infertility can be caused by celiac disease.
  15. My daughter's doctor would have diagnosed you based on positive blood test alone . . . Were you gluten free when you had the endoscopy done? That would affect the results. Regardless, I have yet to see a false positve on a blood test and I have seen boatloads of negative scopes where people do well on the diet (scoping can be tricky . . . not enough...
  16. That's what it seemed like for my daughter. She had a really bad case of stomach flu (her trigger?) and had acid reflux with regurgitation issues afterwards. She went on a prescription strength antacid. It cleared up. It came back. Back on meds. It cleared up. It came back but quicker . . . repeated until it no longer cleared up. Likewise, when...
  17. Give her some more time. Sounds like she's making progress . . . and that's including the fact that she was back on gluten for a trial.
  18. OK . . . after just a bit of googling, I don't see blood testing as part of the procedure although, I know my daughter had some labwork done (absolute eosinophils and neutrophils and some stuff like that). I did see GERD mentioned as a cause for increased eosinophils in the esophagus but it wouldn't be as high as with EE. I think you should talk to your...
  19. I just have to add my opinion that mommida is giving you some good advice. We were actually heading down the path of an EE diagnosis for my daughter when we found Celiac instead. When my daughter had her endoscopy, they were biopsying her Esophagus and took additional samples in the stomach and small intestine (in the doctor's words "since they were in...
  20. Oh it's here, too. The good thing about this forum is there are plenty of opinions and a large number of people willing to post dissenting opinions. If the advice is totally wrong, members are all over it. If it's not necessarily wrong . . . or right . . . but something that shouldn't be taken lightly, enough members post opposing opinions such that the...
  21. Huh . . . never really noticed that. Hey, anybody here have any suggestions for a Christmas present for my MIL?? <snicker . . . sometimes I just crack myself up>
  22. People who use too many exclamation points!!! . . . . . . just kidding. Apparently, that doesn't bother me at all.
  23. Amen!! You guys are doing a great job voicing my opinions!!! I'll read a new peeve and think . . . Oh Yeah!!! That one, too!!!
  24. Personally, I would just leave it out all together, but when making something with it, I would sub your alternative milk (rice milk, almond milk, whatever) for the water component in the recipe.
  25. Yeah . . . their response seems a little more than the CYA that some companies give. I've avoided them for my daughter. I had her try the BRM certified (in cookie form ) and she complained about her stomach. When a girl complains after a cookie, then you know something is up so no more oats for her. I will probably test it again in a year or so, just...
