Scctt, in trying to help New_To_This, I could not bring up a heading labeled "Topic Display Mode", and when I tried to follow the instructions I gave her, it did not change my mode. I think there might be a bug here somewhere??? I was working from My Settings and nothing like that came up.

Sheesh, I dunno That should work, but then I really haven't had the problem since the new software. I will try the change and see what happens for me -
ARCHIVED Negative Biopsy
mushroom replied to precious831's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Might add that for most doctors non-celiac gluten intolerance flies totally below the radar. There really is such a thing (it could well be latent celiac or you may never develop diagnosable celiac) but the symptoms are just as real and the treatment is the same. It is not okay to continue eating gluten when you react badly to it. I would go gluten free... -

Neroli's heart does not go out to drag queens nor do drag queens make it go loopity loop Perhaps Neroli is just plain loopy Neroli although thinks that 24-hour monitors are probably poop but I guess you don't get the to the King-of-Hearts until you've been through the knaves first Good gracious, one would have to go camping (alone... -

Did Patti's Holter monitor "catch" anything? Neroli is afraid that this is a waste of time and that the loopity loops will remain as elusive as ever. -

Neroli knows very little about the functioning of hearts and is distressed that Terry's is "weakened". Neroli doesn't think French Toast is that good for hearts Neroli is going to find out more about hearts in the next 24 hours or so when she wears a Holter monitor to see if it can catch her heart doing the loopity loops because no one else seems... -
ARCHIVED Negative Biopsy, Can It Still Be Celiac
mushroom replied to Teddy's mom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There is also a range of reactions to gluten, from full-blown celiac disease, to latent celiac (not yet responsive to testing) to gluten sensitivity and gluten intolerance. All of these conditions require a gluten free diet, not just diagnosed celiac disease. While it makes things much neater to have them all tied up in a package labeled "celiac disease... -

ARCHIVED How Long On Gluten Diet To Get Accurate Blood Test?
mushroom replied to renoyogamom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You did not mention your children were so young... yes, there is a problem with getting accurate testing in small children. The journey for each family is different and we all must find our own way. As you will find pointed out here in other places, there is a problem with schools if the children do not have a specific diagnosis, in getting teachers and... -
ARCHIVED How Long On Gluten Diet To Get Accurate Blood Test?
mushroom replied to renoyogamom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The generally accepted minimum period on this forum for a gluten-filled diet prior to testing is from 6-8 weeks; some would go further and say three months. I know you will not want to hear this, but anyone who tells you differently is not particularly well informed, IMHO. There is no point in going through the suffering for a (maybe false) negative result... -
ARCHIVED Birthday Cake!
mushroom replied to G-freegal12's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I am a chocolate freak, and this is a cake I baked for my husband's birthday. It is so rich that you only need small pieces, and it is heavenly served with whipped cream or ice cream. With all those eggs, it is not delicate and would travel well! Open Original Shared Link So if you're into baking at all, this will blow them away. The only flour in... -
Think back to how you used to feel as a child at the time you were biting your nails. Were you going through a stressful time? Were there conflicts in your life? It could just simply be a reversion to a behavior that got you through something when you were young, and you are using it now to get you through the adjustment of eating gluten free, which is...

ARCHIVED We Are Waiting Too....
mushroom replied to concernedmamma's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Sometimes the damage is visible during the scope, but most often you have to await the biopsy results. The GI should take at least six biopsy samples from different areas, since it IS often invisible except under the microscope, and the damage to the small intestine can be patchy and thus sometimes missed. The waiting period is hard. Good luck with your... -

ARCHIVED How To Not Get In The Way Of Your Own Recovery? So Confused...
mushroom replied to Pyro's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, one good thing about this place, no matter what you are going through, the chances are 99% you will find someone else going through it too. I am over two years down the gluten free path too, and have had a relapse of digestive symptoms, particularly bloating. It all started when I thought I would add some beets into my diet because I thought they must... -

mushroom replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
A quick google brought up this info in Orlando: Open Original Shared Link Garden Cafe should offer Gluten Free. The new Whole Foods in Dr. Phillips has a MASSIVE hot bar and prepared food stations are that you can get food and enjoy in the "cafe seating" portion, which is a large dining room where carts are not allowed. (according to their signage.... -
What I noticed the most (and still do) is that everywhere I go, people (who know me) say, "You look so well!!" And it is because I am so well, compared to how I was. People are trying to get me involved in things I used to do, but had to give up, but I am reluctant yet to make the commitment because I remember how bad I felt while I was doing them and...

ARCHIVED Just Diagnosed/ My Story
mushroom replied to DonaldandAlanda Evans's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello, Donald, and welcome to the recovery room!! You must feel very relieved to know that there was a real reason for all those problems you were having, and not the ones that other people were imagining. And, it is a disease for which the cure lies in what you eat. Now how good is that? Yes, I know you are still anxious and worried, but you were... -
ARCHIVED Can Lactose Intolerance Develop After Celiac
mushroom replied to Laurelf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had stool testing done through a different lab which showed a mild casein intolerance, which greatly surprised me. I went dairy free for three weeks and it made no difference so I just went back to lactose free which I already knew about. It also showed a mild egg intolerance, but I have not found eliminating eggs to make any difference either. So I... -
ARCHIVED How To Be Annoying Without Feeling Bad....
mushroom replied to detritus's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Unfortunately, when you're dealing with people who just don't "get it", they are probably always going to think you are a little crazy, because they haven't taken Celiac 101 and it's just not possible to deliver that class in one simple request. All you can do is be polite and firm in your request, and mention that what he has been handling previously could...
