  1. I just recently diagnosed soy intolerant based on an IgA test. I've removed all soy and its made a VERY big difference in my symptoms but agree with everyone that soy is gluten free in itself. Just wish it was as easy as wheat to find on food labels!
  2. A delayed reaction to a food intolerance can take up to 72 hours to show up so I think you are correct that it could be something you ate from the day before. Delayed reactions can drive ya crazy when your trying to figure them out!
  3. My friend's only symptom was backache and fatigue. It took awhile for them to find celiac as being the cause. Getting a backache is the only way she knows she's been glutened...no gastro symptoms whatsoever.
  4. Welcome Kathleen! I felt wonderful for 4 months then started noticing dairy giving me a problem so eliminated that. I also suspected Soy because the milk made me miserable but I didn't eliminate all soy. So I had good days mixed in with days where I thought what the heck....gluten free but what set me off stuff. Now at almost two years I found IgA and...
  5. I'm betting you will hear from them on Monday. Call them if not by 21 days. I had a soy test done and had to call them on day 22. Dr. Fine was traveling so they were behind but sent it out to me asap the next day. My G.I., although wishes he would get published, uses enterolab for patients that test negative in all areas of conventional testing but still...
  6. Awesome! This was back in the 70's early 80's, he would have loved the modern inverters ect!
  7. I am one that doesn't react to rice milk either. I use the hazelnut milk in my coffee every morning. I can't use anything with soy or soy lecithin which is in almond breeze products. I think its a sensitivity issue. The barley malt is removed and there is a miniscule trace that is supposed to be safe for most celiacs but as you can see by the posts that...
  8. I tested negative for Casein but am lactose intolerant. I can handle hard aged cheeses and small amounts of the non expensive cheddars ect that you can get at the grocery store. I can't handle ANYTHING with milk powder in it because of the high lactose content of powerdered milk. I'm wondering if you have a mild casein reaction (dose related) and also...
  9. Blueshift, What a wondeful friend and mother you are! Your son is so very lucky to have you! I have no doubts that your son will always be taken care of, a caring person will show up in his life when he will need it most. Thanks for the inspiring response.
  10. Mine are usually about pizza! The last one, was a gluten free pizza place accidentally serving me real pizza. Of course I would know right away but dreams can be crazy!
  11. Its possible that the white chocolate cup was dusted with something on the assembly line. If they make in house which we do sometimes, we use a balloon without dusting. Bleu cheese is rarely made from a bread mold now but since it was imported that could be a slight possibility. Sounds like she did her best to take care of you. Hope you feel better soon...
  12. Gluten intolerance can pop up at any age and doesn't always cause gastro symptoms although it is still doing damage all the same. I would recommend the celiac panel but it may come back false negative since you've been gluten free for a month. Not sure about the specific tests that your holistic Dr. did but maybe others can shed light for you. I believe...
  13. Thanks everyone for your replies. She called me last night and it was very nice for me to hear about her first day alone. She isn't much of a phone person so I learned months ago how to text message and she sends me plenty of those. It is nice to hear her voice though. We had to let an employee go yesterday, so I am filling in until we find the...
  14. I just had the double procedure last Friday. The prep was the worst part. The procedures themselves I do not remember at all. My husband had to tell me everything the doctor said because I didn't remember him coming into the room afterwards, so it is helpful to have someone in the room (I am sure they will insist on this anyway). Do the prep exactly as...
  15. We just took our youngest daughter off to Boulder yesterday to start her first year in college. It's only a two hour drive but I cried the whole way home. I have two older children that live close by that always pops in to do laundry ect but the youngest leaving has hit me so very hard. Any advice from novice empty nesters out there?
  16. Thank you for responding. I did have inflammation in my stomach but also in various patches in my upper small intestines. He showed my husband pics of where he took biopsies (he showed me as well but don't remember!). I think you are right and I am a slow healer! I wish I would have known about Celiac 20 years ago but feeling better everyday now.
  17. yes, I too had infammation in my stomach as well as several patches in my upper intestine. I'm sure the laxatives did a number on my stomach. I don't see myself drinking orange gaterade any time in the near future
  18. When I first thought I had a problem I went gluten free first then did the blood test which was negative. I didn't do an endoscopy because well to be honest I was a big chicken! I settled for the gluten intolerance based on dietary response diagnoses. As some may remember, I started doubting my diagnoses because I still wasn't completely better by last...
  19. did enterolab last month and it took 17 days. I already had a diagnoses but was interested in casein and genes. I have problems with peanuts, beans, and soy. A food diary will help tremendously in discovering other intolerances that you may have. Good luck!

    ARCHIVED Soy

I am currently being tested for soy. After I eat anything with soy, I've been getting cyst type acne on my face. I thought it was dairy but my dairy IgG came back negative. Last night I had a hot dog at the gluten free stand at the ball park. They squirted an oil on the grill and grilled my bread and hot dog on it. Being new to the thought of soy bothering...
  21. Being under mental stress, a new change of any kind bad or good can bring about anxiety or worsen the condition. If you are looking for a natural remedy valerian , kava kava and cat nip are good at relaxing. Kava Kava has had some bad press but following directions and taken as needed shouldn't cause any concerns. Also, celestial seasonings tension tamer...
  22. Thank you for your insight mom26. I am leaning more toward her having a gluten problem with south beach then cheating on it. I will tell her that her period maybe better if she's gluten free and that might help. You are so right, once they are adults it harder to get them to do whats in their best interest. They decide on their own, hopefully sooner than...
  23. My 21 year old daughter recently decided to do the South Beach diet. She feels mostly great on this diet. During her mid cycle (she is on birth control pills) she started bleeding slightly heavy. After 5 days she called the family doctor. The doctor on call had her do a pregnancy test (she was appalled) but it was negative. She will see her doctor this...
  24. BooParks, those are some crazy doctors that want you to eat gluten for a biopsy! My BIL had negative blood work, negative biopsy but positive DH rash and was diagnosed celiac. Like you, he gets very sick if he has trace amounts of gluten, he also suffers from gluten ataxia, anxiety, and panic attacks. I'm glad you don't listen to those fools!
  25. Is there a best time to take B-12 such as morning only ect? Also, since I only bought a 500mcg a spray should I spray twice or divide up the doses?
