ARCHIVED Peripheral Neuropathy
ksymonds84 replied to ksymonds84's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
How much B-12 do you take? The Pure advantage I ordered is 500mcg per spray. BTW, ordered the soy panel and following your suggestion to avoid soy. Do you avoid soy lecithin as well? I was soy lite for awhile because soy milk gave me problems but didn't worry about soy lecithin in chips ect but avoided hydrolyzed soy protein. -

I agree with you! My husband and I own two restaurants and cater to food allergies so my staff is on top of things. The only thing they hate is when people are very rude. For instance, my 18 year old daughter is a busser at our fine dining one and when she approached the table to give them water the lady said to her very snooty "Will you take away this... -
ARCHIVED Peripheral Neuropathy
ksymonds84 replied to ksymonds84's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks Deb, I looked over old threads and found someone else looking for a non sorbitol and discovered Pure Advantage. It is also a Methylcobalamin 12 but not fake sugars. I see my doctor on Thursday so I probably won't even get the on line order until after then. I've been taking the other form of b12 cyanoobalamin in a slow release of 2,000mcg since... -
ARCHIVED Peripheral Neuropathy

I see him on Thursday. The toe thing started after the gluten challenge. It really screwed up my system! I think I'm starting to get a little paranoid over everything. Good thing i only have to wait 3 more days to hopefully getting some answers! BTW, I tried a sublingual b-12 and the sorbitol gave me a canker sore where I placed in under the tongue.... -
ARCHIVED Peripheral Neuropathy

For the past year or so I've had an occasional burning on the top of my left foot from the small toe to almost ankle bone that comes and goes. In the last couple of weeks my little toe on same foot has a tingling pins and needles burning feeling. It is worse in the morning. I don't recall banging it or anything and there are no lesions or bunions ect on... -
I just recently discovered that you can get them on the tongue. I've been plagued with geographic tongue since my teen years and my docs have always been clueless why mine hurt and itch (I guess they are only supposed to look like continents on your tongue). I've heard others say that they hurt but now since they came from my recent gluten challenge it...

ARCHIVED Pizza Crust
ksymonds84 replied to vinnie's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If you don't feel like making your own from scratch, chebe pizza crust that you can get at some health food stores or online is a crust that you just add eggs, oil, and milk. It's a very thin cracker crust that most kids will like ( I like it when I don't feel like going to all the work). Plus there is minimal ingredients since your daughter was just diagnosed... -
Liz, you may want to pop over to the perskyfarms.com colitis boards. Most have MC colitis but others have general colitis, celiac etc. Almost all of them are gluten free, dairyfree, and soy free and that it DOES help their colitis. Tex and Polly (a pediatrician) are the moderators and I bet they would have some fantastic advice for your son!

I got my gene results last week too. HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 1: 0201 HLA-DQB1 Molecular analysis, Allele 2: 0302 Serologic equivalent: HLA-DQ 2,3 (Subtype 2,8) I didn't know you had to be eating gluten to be tested properly so my tests were negative. My family doctor was very impressed that my symptoms 80% cleared up with... -

Awesome read Deb! Interesting how he commented that many people have a problem with the corn gluten. Thanks for posting! -
ARCHIVED Cleaning The Grill?
ksymonds84 replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My family purchased an extra grill rack from home depot for me and just sit it on top of their grill. I've also seen foil type grill racks ( a little thicker) for covering those nasty ones you see in parks. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pizza Delivery Colorado Springs

Did you hear the great news that Coors Field now has a gluten free concession stand! Now we can have hotdogs and Redbridge while watching the Rockies kick butt!! -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pizza Delivery Colorado Springs
ksymonds84 replied to RickEddy's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I live in the Springs too. Sad about Garlic Jim's he is such a nice guy and I really wanted it to work for him. Both Garlic Jim's and Borriello use Outside the Breadbox Pizza crusts from the bakery in Old Colorado City. So if you are a fan of Garlic Jim's crusts you can buy the pizza shells yourself. They are only open Monday thru Friday from 11:00 a... -
I am still not recovered from the gluten challenge I started in May and had to end in the beginning of July. Each day gets better though but I can tell I did some damage. I have arthritis pain in my foot that still bothers me and geographical tongue with a vengeance. Almost a month of gluten free but still having loose stools every morning. My energy...

ARCHIVED Vlasic Pickles
ksymonds84 replied to Becci's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am bothered by vlasic pickles myself and not because of gluten. They are gluten free. The only thing that makes sense to me is that my system is still healing and vinegar is very acidic. When I make salad dressings I've found that rice vinegar is less acidic (slightly sweeter though) and I handle it better than the apple cider one's. -
Different celiac disease Allergy And Alcohol Reactions?
ksymonds84 replied to David's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My husband and I have a ritual of making a really nice dinner and sharing a bottle of wine (about 2 1/2 glasses each), then watch a rented movie. I used to be fine with that but now if we share a bottle, I can't stay awake long enough to finish the movie. My tolerance has defiantly changed. I like who ever said, "I'm a cheap drunk" fits me to a T now. -
ARCHIVED Glutened....myself To See...i Dont Understand?
ksymonds84 replied to mindyandy420's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Everyone's system is different. I was over 1 1/2 years gluten free and when I did the challenge it took about a month for the symptoms to come back full force such as joint problems, water diarrhea, and horrible bloating! Had to discontinue since I was so sick. -
My mother went in to early menopause because she took a medication called DES (don't know the long name but you can google it) to stop miscarrying with my sister. She didn't take it with me. My mom was all done with menopause by the time she was 45. My sister had a cyst the size of a grapefruit on her ovary when she was 15. She has had many problems throughout...

Yes, they all contain soy and HFCS. So unfortunate! I need to find a good recipe to make it myself for deviled eggs! -
ARCHIVED High Fructose Corn Syrup
ksymonds84 replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I took HFCS out of my diet last spring. Annie's has a good BBQ, Heinz came out with a low sugar ketchup that does not have high fructose corn syrup. There's also great recipes to make your own! I always thought I was being glutened by sweet baby rays. Come to find out I am sensitive to the HFCS. I can get away with just a tiny bit but not alot. -

ARCHIVED Is gluten-free Rice Chex Actually gluten-free?
ksymonds84 replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have no problems with Rice Chex but bought the cinnamon one's without closely reading the ingredients (I know better than that!) and I reacted to the milk powder. I am very dairy sensitive, not every reaction means gluten. Sorry that some are having problems. It's so nice to buy a gluten-free cereal in a regular grocery store and not spend over 5.00...
