ARCHIVED Eating The Same Foods Every Day
ksymonds84 replied to *lee-lee*'s topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Some people can eat the same thing day in and day out and not have a problem with it. When my brother in law was diagnosed with celiac, he ate eggs every single day for over 2 months and did develop an intolerance to them. I try to rotate eggs, corn, and other high profile potential intolerance foods to every three days. As far as weight loss or gain,... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Tired Of "celiac" Vs "gluten Sensitive"?
ksymonds84 replied to mhb's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I do too. Celiac is a life time autoimmune illness thats only cure is the gluten free diet. Another board that I belong to posted the health benefits of Celiacs that follow the diet. They live just as long and sometimes longer than people who are not celiac. Those that cheat or stop doing the diet have a higher percentage of lymphomas ect and less than... -

ARCHIVED Fluoxetine (generic Prozac) Manufactured By Sandoz
ksymonds84 replied to jvosicky's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you've had no problems with Teva and haven't had any changes in your diet otherwise, then your probably right that the new prescription is giving you the problem. I wonder if there is some sort of milk protein in it since Prozac normally loosens thing up? Perhaps a sister drug to prozac such as zoloft, paxil, or lexapro would have a gfdf generic for... -
ARCHIVED Fluoxetine (generic Prozac) Manufactured By Sandoz
ksymonds84 replied to jvosicky's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sorry to hear you are having problems with your Fluoxetine. I haven't taken the 20 mg capsules for awhile now because my doctor has me down to ten mg and its a tablet (my issue is hormonal perimenopause mood swings). The 20mg would make me looser in the a.m. (prozac is usually what they put IBS people whose symptoms are constipation vs diarrhea on because... -
ARCHIVED Tiny Red Bumps
ksymonds84 replied to Mother of Jibril's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I get those too. The last time was an hour after having Mcdonald's frenchfries (went through drive up and didn't pay attention if they were using a dedicated fryer...my bad). They are usually up and down my fingers with a few on the front of my hands. Mine go away pretty quickly though which is why I think its glutened related but not DH. I also have... -

ARCHIVED Feeling Worse On gluten-free Diet
ksymonds84 replied to finlayson's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hang in there. It took almost 2 months for me to really feel better. I thought I was being careful in the beginning, but realized I wasn't. For instance, I was using an older bottle of Sam's Club ibuprophen which contained gluten in the starch. The new bottle I had did not. I was taking a generic lactaid, it had gluten. In the beginning the learning... -
ARCHIVED Gluten And Casein Intolerance Question?
ksymonds84 replied to desccc's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I can give you personal experience. My brother in law was diagnosed Celiac 4 years ago After 2 years he still wasn't comlpletely better. His doctor suggested eliminated dairy products and that worked like a charm. He believes casein is the problem since he still can't add back in the dairy products even the low lactose one's. I am now dairy free... -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed- How To Explain It To People
ksymonds84 replied to Trachellium's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There's no such thing as an ignorant question here! My doctor interchangeably calls me either celiac or gluten intolerant. I choose to explain myself as simply gluten intolerant because I think people understand that more. If I say I am celiac, alot of times I will get "what is that?" compared to gluten intolerance. With restaurants, I usually say I... -
. Sorry that happened to you , just don't not go again because it happened once, and ask for a manager to make sure your order is right if you have to. They don't want something "bad" to happen... The menu is specific on what we "can't" have with what we order, which is helpful (at least I think) and at least here, they seem to respond to specific needs...

ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed- What To Throw Out Of Kitchen
ksymonds84 replied to wschmucks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome! I only tossed old teflon pans that were scratched up. I have a couple favorite cookie sheets that I just put parchment paper over. You can use new wooden spoons and cutting boards as long as your not sharing them with gluten eaters. Tupperware that is smooth and not scratched, I personally would keep, but plastic colanders with little holes... -
ARCHIVED Lactose - Casein Intolerance
ksymonds84 replied to odcdinah's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Dinah, I am going through this same issue myself. I'm trying to figure out if casein intolrance or LI is still causing me problems. For me, sometimes I react within a half hour of eating dairy (especially if its alot) other times its the next morning or afternoon. Delayed intolerances are so hard to figure out. I've started keeping a food journal again... -
Please be very careful though. I ordered off the gluten free menu when at On the Border last week and did get glutened. It said on the menu when ordering the fajitas to request no onion (many chain restaurants will use vegetables that already come seasoned etc.) so I did this. Well my fajitas came out with the onions. I told the food runner that the menu...

Thanks Janet, I was faithfully keeping a food diary up until August, so I need to do that again. I do remember everytime I had pizza, I usually had D in the morning. I always blamed it on the gluten-free crust, such as the vinegar or gelatin etc in the different recipe's I would try. Since my D usually shows up the next day, does that point more to Casein...

I am 10 1/2 months gluten free now and mostly feel better. Gone are the canker sores, leg cramps, eczema. The only thing is I still have alot of gas (the kind that my family makes horrible jokes about, this doesn't bother me). I also still don't have normal BM's. The only time I get the D now is when I get accidently glutened or overdo the dairy. Now...

ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed; Still Struggling!
ksymonds84 replied to ashylu929's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't worry about the glass and bare metal pans because you can clean them easy with hot soapy water or the dishwasher. I only worry about pans that are scratched up or coranders that have tiny holes. Gluten is very sticky! There are toaster sleeves available on line if you google them. I've seen a 2 pack for 4.00. They are reusable and you don't have... -

ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed; Still Struggling!
ksymonds84 replied to ashylu929's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
i've kept most of my pans EXCEPT scratched teflon, anything wooden, and got my own coliander. Those things are very hard to simply clean. I bought my own toaster because toasters are inexpensive and why run a slight risk, but I don't worry about my dogs. I have an allergy to them and washing my hands after playing with them etc is a must for me. As far... -
ARCHIVED Geographic Tongue
ksymonds84 replied to Ms. Skinny Chic's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have suffered from GT since my teens (I am in my early 40's now). Mine also get very painful. For me it is all citrus fruits and anything containing them. Very spicy foods will sometimes set it off. I used to love margaritas but within 1/2 hour of drinking one, will get the small fissure that will eventually spread over my tounge. I've noticed since... -
ARCHIVED Do I Need To Give Up Dairy Temporarily
ksymonds84 replied to finlayson's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
There are a lot of celiac's that have been able to continue to eat dairy. It really depends on how damaged your villi are. If you are getting better by only removing gluten then you may be one of the lucky one's. If you start to feel you are not healing, Dairy would be the first to eliminate to see if you feel better without it. Welcome to the board! -

ARCHIVED Condensed Cream Of Mushroom Soup
ksymonds84 replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I haven't tried to make it yet but plan on using the funyon's that someone else posted as working for the onions. I generally make greenbean casserole during the holidays. I thought I would experiment using your cream base, the Funyons and lea and perrins worchestershire sauce. I will let you know how it works out!
