  1. I've been gluten free for over a year and a half (except during the gluten challenge that I had to end recently) and have found that symptoms will pop up and you sometimes just can't find the cause. It could be hidden gluten such as reacting to 20 ppm or just that our system isn't completely healed (some adults can take 2 years or more depending on damage...

    ARCHIVED Bloated

It could definatley be related to dairy or perhaps you are trying the gluten free substitutes for bread ect. IMO, In the beginning its best to eat whole foods such as meat, veggies, and fruit. If rice is not a problem than that is okay too. Gluten free grains that your body is not used to need to be added in slowly. That being said, Dairy bloats me up...
  3. You are so right. What my husband and I decided is that I will do tests through enterolab. Dr. Lewey approves of Dr. Fine and tested himself and kids through him and recommends him to patients that keep having problems after testing negative to every test under the sun. He has an excellent article on gluten intolerance sensitivity on the main page of this...
  4. I too experience this, mostly on my left cheek and chin. I've been getting it more so while I am doing the gluten challenge so it could be celiac related.
  5. It could be the dairy. I didn't know I had a problem with dairy (casein not lactose) until I went gluten free. Cheddar popcorn and cheese maybe setting you off. Most times the GI will say no dairy in the beginning and the lucky one's get to add it back after awhile. I can't do soymilk. A little soy in foods seem okay but liquid soymilk makes me very...
  6. Hi everyone. I haven't been on for awhile because I've been doing some experimenting. I was gluten free for over a year and a half. Initially I got better but after 4 months other intolerances seemed to keep popping up. I had a negative blood test (already started gluten free diet because didn't know better) but since I was doing well gluten free (in...
  7. thank you! just plan on hanging at home and relaxing. Hubby will make my favorite gluten free ribs!

  8. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  9. Rice dream doesn't bother me either. The .002 or whatever possible left over Barley enzyme must not be enough to set me off and I react to anything that bothers me. Its a personal decision. I do prefer Almond milk and drink it almost everyday because of taste. I buy the rice dreams eggnog at Christmas (very yummy)
  10. Blue Bonnet mexican restaurant has a full gluten free menu. Very good!
  11. I can't have sorbitol but decided to try it anyway since its just a small amount and on the 3rd day got a huge canker sore right in the spot I was putting it. I too would like to find some without the sorbitol and mannitol.
  12. So true, buffalo burgers for instance has half the fat and more iron than cow burgers. Too bad its so expensive tho.
  13. www.foodreactions.org/intolerance/fructose/malabsorption.html www.healthhype.com/low-fructose-diet-in-fructose-malabsorption.html The above links give good information on fructose malabsorption. If you have problems with fruits its a good thing to check out. Apples, Pears, especially juice from concentrate are big ones. You can try to eliminate high...
  14. I've heard this too. Its very important to never snort Zicam. Its meant to only be inserted 1/4 inch into the nostril then pressed gently on the side for the nose to absorb it. With the squirt type your supposed to tilt up so that it doesn't shoot up nasal cavity and again gently press on the side of the nostril. Haven't had any problems with migraines...
  15. My husband and I own a fine dining restaurant that features wild game. My chef always makes sure for me if the supplier is gluten free and it always is....enjoy your game!
  16. Armae, I am allergic to cats and have two. I developed a tolerance to them and only have problems if I go away on vacation for awhile. When I come back I have to take allergy medicine again to tolerate them. I have a friend with 3 cats who is very allergic. She bathes them (started doing so as kittens) and swears this helps. This gets rid of extra...
  17. I recently made a connection that I have fructose malabsorption and Honey is 100% fructose so I get the big D about a half hour after consuming even a tsp of honey. I also stay away from anything the is made with High fructose Corn Syrup, Corn Syrup, and Corn Syrup Solids. Not saying this is your problem at all but its made a huge difference in my life...
  18. My chef used sweet potato flour when we hosted a gluten free dinner last fall. He made them into ravioli. Didn't get to try them because of the dairy. Everyone liked the taste, said it was kinda nutty flavored perfect for fall.
  19. I am in the same boat. It took me 4 months of gluten free to start reacting to dairy products. Just like you, I didn't have D until the next morning so it made it hard to think about what all I ate the day before , so I kept a food diary. It didn't take long to see that whenever I had a gluten free pizza or Alfredo the night before, I had D the next morning...
  20. For me, I've discovered recently that I have a problem with fructose malabsorbtion and have felt the best in 1 1/2 years of being gluten free! Pamela's uses a ton of fructose such as honey (a pure form of fructose that rates as high as high fructose corn syrup, and molasses) so I reacted everytime I had one of their products and didnt know what it was until...
  21. Are you able to swing down to Colorado Springs? Outside the Breadbox is a gluten free bakery in Old Colorado City on Colorado Avenue. They have a pizza crust to die for. They do some shipping if you want to look at their website I believe its just outsidethebreadbox.com or google it. I like their brown rice bread too and alternate it with the Udi for...
  22. I've been using Zicam allergy swabs (for the nasal passage) and so far they have been working great! They are homeopathic so no heavy duty chemicals. I researched and someone else called them and Zicam states all their products are gluten free. The only downside is that they are 12.00 for twenty swabs. I admit that I use the same swab all day, I just...
  23. I use the Blue Diamond brand non sweetened. I get it at King Sooper (Kroger, City Market) and also at Safeway. Its in the cereal aisle at my Safeway and the health food section at King Sooper. Cheaper than at the health food store that usually has it. I understand about normal options being taken away. On vacation when we would go to a happy hour, I...
  24. Sounds like geographical tongue. I was diagnosed with this when I was a teenager. I get red rings and sometimes white one's. They usually fade in a couple weeks and always gone within a month unless I get a new one. High stress, citric fruits, strawberries cause it for me. Gluten free has helped that I don't get them so much but a margarita will do it...
  25. When I discovered the fructose malabsorption it sounded so much like me that I was excited to test it. I ate a tablespoon of pure whipped honey and sure enough in a half hour I was in the loo Also, I thought sweet baby ray's was glutening me lately but the first ingredient is High Fructose Corn syrup! Honey and High fructose corn syrup are extremely high...
