ARCHIVED Dairy? Okay Or Not?
ksymonds84 replied to Kit.DaMommy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I tried to save cost on generic lactaid and vomited both times I tried to use them. I wasn't savvy about calling companies back then, just threw the stuff away. Lactaid brand fast act doesn't cause me to vomit so I am betting gluten was in the other one's so as GFinDC says check the labels or call the company if you decide to try them. -

ksymonds84 replied to Avasmom12's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
There's not a whole lot you can do but drink alot of water through out the day to keep hydrated. Sorry didn't see your post until after picnic. Hope you were able to still go. Sounds like your glutening was more delayed than usual maybe cause you are healing. I usually always get the D the next morning but will be gassy within an hour of cc or accidental... -

ARCHIVED Celiac + Ibs?.....anyone Else?
ksymonds84 replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The IBS diet then used to be a ton of fiber but during the last 10 years or so, insoluable fiber is more what is considered a safe fiber. Wanted to correct myself...brain fog is terrible today soluable fiber is what helps some people who suffer with either/both diarrhea and constipation. -
I like fibercon. It doesn't give me the gas that the others do. I had to quit citrucel because they changed their powdered formula and citric acid is the first ingredient. Citric acid gives me major heartburn. I am so far liking the fibercon, been doing it for over a week. I am also liking tablets vs. powdered that you have to add to water.

ARCHIVED Celiac + Ibs?.....anyone Else?
ksymonds84 replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I deal with both. If you go to the IBS support board, they will strongly defend that there is such a thing as IBS (very smart people on that board too) but they do consider it a syndrome not a disease. If you have anything other than gastro symptoms such as joint pain, fever, blood in stools etc, the moderator strongly incourages the person to seek further... -
Benefiber
ksymonds84 replied to darlindeb25's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
When trying to choose a fiber supplement, I went to the benefiber website. I can't remember where on the site but it does disclaim that even though the gluten is less than 10ppm they recommend that a celiac NOT use their product. It was at the bottom of one their pages, maybe the ingredient one? -
Hi Erin, MSG does not contain gluten but I am one of those that reacts to it like it is gluten. Not sure if you could have had gluten with your lunch, it is possible cc issues? Face tingling is a neurological symptom that I used to always get before going gluten free. Always on the left side of my face. Haven't seen it since gluten free though...

ARCHIVED I Just Want To See What Happens ?
ksymonds84 replied to HeyItsA's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had to do the challenge for the elimination diet and felt so horrible that I didn't purposely do any gluten again until...too much wine one night and chocolate donuts were on the counter! I didn't react the next morning (my usual reacting time if I get cc at dinner) and thought I got off very lucky but two days later while at work...BAM major D. I felt... -
ARCHIVED Still Not Sure Whats Goin On Inside
ksymonds84 replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yep I had blood work done and I was already gluten light so I tested a 5. Negative is 4 and below, positive was 8 and up so I was in the inconclusive range. I didn't want to do an endoscopy so I did the challenge for 3 months, ate gluten again and got miserably sick. My doc is very good and diagnosed me gluten intolerant based on dietary response. I... -
ARCHIVED Still Not Sure Whats Goin On Inside
ksymonds84 replied to jasonD2's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Jason, The first thing you need to do is take a deep breath and relax! I'm not sure how old you are but you are going to be around a lot longer because you are taking charge of your health now. I've been gluten free for about 10 months and still am not regular everyday so to speak. I am on the opposite end though with D being my major problem... -
ARCHIVED Condensed Soups
ksymonds84 replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
When I was at my favorite gluten free bakery today, Outside the Breadbox in colorado springs (she sells other products as well as bread), I found Cream of Portabella Soup. It is gluten, dairy, and vegan. It does contain soy for those who are intolerant to soy. It is by imagine foods. On the side of the carton it says can be used in any recipe that calls... -

ARCHIVED Cream Cheese Sub (dairy/soy Free)
ksymonds84 replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
They maybe talking about tofutti. I tried it and had a strong gluten reaction. I'm guessing it was the maltrodextrin since it is imported from places like isreal, australia etc. Or the maltrodextrin is safe and it could just be me? Others may know of another product. Here's a recipe I have but haven't tried so don't know if it would work to make... -
I agree if your not 100% sure your not celiac (my case because I was gluten free when had testing done but doc diagnosed me gluten intorant based on positive diet response and return of symptoms when challenged) you can't cheat and hope enzymes will rescue you. I bought Glutenease for when I am stuck going to dinners where I can't sneak my own food in. ...

ARCHIVED Celiac Disease With Minimal Gi Symptoms?
ksymonds84 replied to Light's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Mike, I have several Celiac friends who were diagnosed with Celiac and couldn't believe they were because of no GI symptoms. One had horrible low back pains and wanted to sleep all the time. Another, dietary deficiencies with early osteoporosis. And finally, the other is my BIL who was diagnosed because of itchy rash (HD). So it is possible to... -
Purple, I am really missing Pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting. Would this recipe work for that by just putting in a jelly roll pan or would you change something first?
