  4. Welcome to the forum! We've done many articles on pregnancy and celiac disease: https://www.celiac.com/search/?q=pregnancy&quick=1&type=cms_records2&search_in=titles and we've had people post here that their pregnancy actually triggered their celiac disease. Before going gluten-free it would be ideal if you could get a celiac...
  5. PS - I believe that in the USA "Spices" cannot contain gluten, and all wheat must be declared on the allergen statement.
  6. There is indeed a connection, and you can view some of our articles that mention this here: https://www.celiac.com/search/?&q=Thrombocytopenic&type=cms_records2&search_and_or=and
  7. Pesticides don't have gluten, you just want to consume as close to zero of them as possible. Some fruits use larger amounts, and types that are more toxic, and non-organic commercial strawberries and well known to be in this category.
  8. These would be a good place to start: Vitamin A deficiency Vitamin B1 deficiency Vitamin B6 deficiency Vitamin B12 deficiency Vitamin D deficiency Vitamin K deficiency Magnesium deficiency Zinc deficiency
  9. The average time is 2 years, and it could probably be faster if people knew about things like hidden gluten in food additives, cosmetics, etc., and if they took dietary supplementation seriously and tested for vitamin & mineral deficiencies. In my case I think it was a combination of not supplementing right away, and working at a desk too much,...
  10. I've had some bad years! Although my recovery seemed to be dramatic, that was just in comparison to how sick I had been before going gluten-free. There was an ~10-15 year period in my life afterwards where I have chronic stiff necks, major knots in my shoulders and neck, and around once per month I would wake up with such a bad stiff neck I could not turn...
  11. 06/14/2021 - Professor Elena Lionetti and a team of research colleagues at the Department of Paediatrics at the Marche Polytechnic University, Ancona, Italy recently reported that mass screening of school age children has led to significantly...
  12. You are not alone, and there are many celiacs who report some of the things you're going through. Here is a summary of a recent study on dating and celiac disease. I think getting your diet under control, and getting healthy is every celiac's first priority, but learning how to deal with various social relationships while maintain a gluten-free diet isn't...
  13. I highly doubt strawberries would contain any measurable gluten, even IF they used straw under them (if heard of home gardeners doing this, but have never seen it done here in California in commercial strawberry fields...and even IF they did it, straw does not contain gluten). Strawberries are a very common fruit allergy which can be quite severe in some...
  14. I would check into a possible corn intolerance, as Barilla is made in a dedicated gluten-free facility.
  15. Hello @gf_kitchen, and welcome to the forum. Is it possible you have a corn intolerance or corn allergy? I ask because Barilla is probably the largest gluten-free pasta manufacturer in the world, and their product is made in a dedicated gluten-free facility, so it's very doubtful that it would contain any gluten.
  16. Was your reaction different than you have with gluten? Nut allergies are very common, as you probably know, but an allergic reaction is very different than the reaction that a person with celiac disease has with gluten, which is an autoimmune reaction. If the reaction was more like a gluten reaction, I wonder if it's possible that you got some gluten in your...
  17. Celiac.com 06/12/2021 - We've been eating more fish lately, and that means we've been looking for nice side dishes to round out the meals. This recipe for English style mushy peas caught our eye, and has become a regular when we make our...
  18. We summarized this research as well, and it certainly means that better tests need to be developed:
  19. The pain I had was primarily in the middle-right area of my abdomen. How long have you been gluten-free, and is any gluten getting into your diet? Have you tried eliminating other things like cow's milk?
  20. Interesting article, and I've seen other studies on too clean environments. The takeaway from this one is "Ultra-sterile living conditions may contribute to common astronaut illnesses, including gut, skin, and immune-system problems." Let your kids play in the dirt!
  21. I was referring to a possible risk factor for celiac disease based on elevated vitamin D levels:
  22. Hoisin sauce is used in some Chinese and South East Asian recipes, and some may be gluten-free, but not this one! Besides soy sauce, beware of oyster sauce and hoisin sauce, as some contain gluten.
