ARCHIVED Want To Cry-So Frustrated!
Ahorsesoul replied to lvpriest's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just because the tests are negative it does not mean you do not have celiac disease or that you would not feel better going gluten free. -

Ahorsesoul replied to kimann79's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yep, the doctors will say it's all in our head but it's really ON our head! I react to it too. -

ARCHIVED Are Enterolab Tests Reliable?
Ahorsesoul replied to Lori2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I suggest you cut out all gluten, dairy and soy for a few months to see if you improve. Since you have been gluten free for such a short time your intestines may need to heal before you see more improvements. Dairy and soy seem to hinder intestinal healing. I was able to add them back without problems. Made a major difference. -
ARCHIVED I Wonder?
Ahorsesoul replied to twe0708's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This would make an excellent research project. I've wondered this also. With all the genetic changes to our food, they might. -
Jason, You have come so far! I am so proud of you.

If you have used flavored coffees in your coffee pot, it could be contaminated. You might try a new coffee pot.

ARCHIVED Personal Care Products With Gluten
Ahorsesoul posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I recieved this today when I asked if one of the Nivia for Men Body Wash products contained gluten or oats. Notice they leave it up to the consumer to decide. _______________ Thank you for contacting us as to whether or not our products have gluten derived ingredients. We understand how important this information is for you. At Beiersdorf, we strive... -
ARCHIVED Started Dating - Dreading "the Talk"
Ahorsesoul replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think this issue is something that should be said before accepting a date with someone. To me if I was dating someone for a few times and then all of a sudden they told me about something this important probably stop seeing them. I do understand that some people see this as a privacy issue but I would wonder what else they were hiding. -

ARCHIVED Started Dating - Dreading "the Talk"
Ahorsesoul replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The only thing you need to say is "I can not eat anything with gluten". End of long story with details. No need to make it a shakespearean tragedy. -
I've never even thought of seeing if River Market's deli could make a sandwich. Thanks! I'll be sure to keep an eye on them.

ARCHIVED Restaurants Vs. Grocery Stores
Ahorsesoul replied to KevinG's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Disagree I think going with 2 would be better. You might not get glutenized with 2 but with 1 you always will. -
I suggest you keep reading here. One of the best sites. Welcome to the gluten free world. I have yet to find a book that is really great. Info changes so fast by the time a book is published it already old news.

ARCHIVED Feeling Sick After Eating Anything.
Ahorsesoul replied to RideAllWays's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
A food journal would be a good thing. Make note of when bf drinks beer. Many people here say they are cross contaminated from kissing and from body fluids from people who consume gluten. Any new medications or new personal care products should be noted. Keep an eye out for oat contamination. -
ARCHIVED Gall Bladder Issues?
Ahorsesoul replied to looking4help's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The above posting sounds like a gallbladder attack. Usually after eating some type of fatty foods. Black poo could be internal bleeding (could be your ulcer). Also could be from medication or food. If you are taking iron it maybe the cause or eating a lot of green veggies. It is something to call your GI doctor about on Monday. Mention tarry black and... -
ARCHIVED My Husband Being Totally Annoying!
Ahorsesoul replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I see this from a different view. Here is a dh who wants to eat gluten free. Maybe because he wants to support his wife or maybe because he's found out he feels better when eating gluten free. Since you are gluten free your family would benefit from eating gluten free. Your health would benefit from a gluten free household. And you may see some positive changes... -
Don't forget to look at Kowalski's. I know the one in Stillwater carries Udi's so I would think the other stores can order it. I'm also trying to get them to carry Against the Grain products. And if you ever want to go a little further, try Fresh & Natural in Hudson for gluten free items.
-
Anyone that can not find Udi's or Katz bread in their local health food store should be sure to put in an oral and written request for these items to their store. Most stores are happy to order a new product for their customers. That is how I got Udi's bread in my area. My town is less than 3000 people. One of my local grocery stores is starting to carry...

ARCHIVED Hidden Ingredients
Ahorsesoul replied to nickim's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Since you are new to the gluten free diet I would suggest you also go dairy and soy free for a few months to promote faster healing. Also look at all products that go into your mouth to be sure they are gluten free. Include your drinks, medications, toothpaste, mints, anything. Try not to use plastic, wooden or coated cooking items including cutting boards... -
ARCHIVED There's Nothing Left To Eat Without Feeling Sick
Ahorsesoul replied to sweeeeet's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
6 hours is way to short a time. I suggest you decide on what you want to do and stick with it for a few weeks. This problem will go away in a few hours. -
I buy the white and the whole grain from Udi's. Both are excellent. I've had their muffins, they are good but I am not a fan of muffins. Try them if you like muffins. Have their bagels in the freezer but have not had them yet. Have tried the pizza crust, it's good but I really like Against the Grains better. Against the Grain (if you can tolerate dairy...
