  1. Try not to get disappointed about Bards beer availability... It's only a matter of time before it's available in a store near you. Contact your local distributor about it. Find out a liquor store near you to purchase for you. Tell them about your support group, if you have one, and their market for the beer. It can be done with persistance.
  2. I read an article recently, on this site I believe, of a study that discussed the better locations to take the biopsy. Presumeably, the odds of a correct diagnose will be improved by a more intelligent selection of the sample.
  3. I use it with no reaction.
  4. Kraft brands are best - then include barley as well as wheat.
  5. There was a study posted some time ago that said antiacids may contribute to food allergies by allowing undigested proteins into the small bowel.
  6. The only time I worry about carmel color is when the product comes from outside the US or Canada; otherwise, I pronounce it safe.
  7. What's brown and round and sits on a piano bench? Beethovan's first movement! Normal stool is dark brown, smooth and requires little cleaning afterwards. Passing it should be a relatively pleasant non-event. After a time of gluten-free and subsequent return to normalcy, you will realize you "went" and didn't have any anxiety or fixation on "it". ...
  8. A celiac is gluten sensitive, but not all gluten sensitive people are celiac. They could present in many other ways. One can be allergic to gluten, say wheat. This is an IgE immune response, like the peanut allergy, seafood allergy, etc. Our problems are predominately IgA (mucosal tissue immune system) and IgG.
  9. I'd like to share a few observations - in typical masculine form. I've observed in life that the first to take offense is often the first to offend. They are hipersensitive to criticism and are critical of others. Criticism is a good thing. If we express an idea, we should be ready to stand behind it and substantiate it. Some people view disagreement...
  10. I had it done. I was surprised by a few of the foods listed. I cut the ones I could relate to symptoms and will attempt to readd to my diet later. Then I will cut the rest. It's possible to heal from some of these food intolerances. Dairy, egg and yeast problems may not be temporary. I've read the skin prick tests often give false negatives. When I...
  11. I tested positive for so many foods, I didn't feel like I could eat. So I opted to cut out about half - the half giving me the most trouble - for six months. After that, I'll try to add them back into my diet. Then I'll cut out some of the others. Hopefully, I won't loose too many permanently. Worst case, at least I will work my way there and not have...
  12. This thread is rather warm, isn't it. Just a few comments... For any given post, under the poster's name you will find a rating like Newbie, Member, Advanced Member, etc. This rating is assigned by the QUANTITY of posts, not the QUALITY of posts. Any posting should be judged on its content. I've seen some very astute posts by Newbies and some pretty...
  13. My GI told me that mucous is a sign of problems. It takes a year to heal most people, a recent stufy indicated.
  14. You should contact the distributor for a closer supply. His email can be found at the Bard's Tale website. Look for the Availability Page link on the home page. It tells you where to contact.
  15. I just bought Bard's Tale beer at RichO's Public House Open Original Shared Link I sat around today at a Derby party drinking a beer with the guys... It made me feel really normal. Just thought I'd share
  16. MySuicidalTurtle, I'd like to push back a little on your last statement... How do you know this? Has there been a study on it? Is there any proof? How do you/they/whoever know that a wooden spoon - washed and washed - still retains gluten and causes harm? I've read posts on this topic which advocated virtually replacing everything in the kitchen...
  17. There is a load of info on this board for York. You can locate it via search.
  18. I use every utensil in our kitchen, wooden spoons, whatever, regardless of what it has touched before, with no problems. I wash well or run through the dishwasher. You may find there won't be a lot of gluten around besides store-bought breadstuffs if you are doing the cooking

    ARCHIVED Sushi

I frequent a sushi bar, which stocks San-J Tamari wheat-free soy sauce for me. Some eel can have soy, possibly Kikomann, containg wheat. A nice dish is Chirashi, which is a flat bowl of rice with sashimi, roe and vegs. Ask for no crab and no eel. Usually very nice bargain, most places I've been. Careful of other sauces like eel sauce and ponzu...
  20. junevarn, I've been where you are now. At one point, I felt awful after two out of three meals or more often. I didn't have your specific reactions, but everyone is different. It is entirely possible and probable for you to have other food problems. It can be quite hard to isolate because the reaction may not take place right after a meal, but the next...
  21. chelly1, If you are in the UK, then cornflour is what we call corn (maize) starch and is gluten-free. In the US, cornflour is maize, milled to flour consistency. Nice for fried foods.
  22. I have to be concerned about yeast too, so I contacted my favorite bourbon distiller regarding yeast content and was informed that yeast does not pass through the distillation process.
  23. cindyann50, From your description, the osteoporosis clinches it for me. I'd bet he has celiac disease. I believe gluten sensitivity will be the cause of nearly all osteoporosis problems. How's his iron?
  24. For Catholics, Holy Communion is not merely a symbol. It is the Body and Blood of Christ Jesus. Its composition is important. It is part of our Tradition, which is important. To change Tradition without significant investigation into all the many facets of this issue is to invalidate the faith of our predecessors. The Church cannot react to this issue...
  25. I tell them that it causes sudden, uncontrollable, projectile vomiting - sometimes as far as across the table.
