  1. It could also be pesticides. Did you wash them well?
  2. I know that I was on a bone marrow donor list, and with my diagnosis of celiac disease, I was taken off. I don't know if there would be a problem if the recipient had celiac disease.
  3. I seem to have problems with distilled gluten grains. I can't guarantee that it is a gluten reaction, of course. Not everything is gluten. I also have problems with items processed in shared facilities. I can't see how a distillation of a gluten grain can be done in a facility that isn't shared. I have also seen how some of my lab mates do distillations...
  4. What about this expert? https://www.celiac.com/blogs/4/Dr-Rodney-Fords-Blog.html Open Original Shared Link My family has noticed better results with pasture raised dairy cows. Of course, that could be for all sorts of reasons unrelated to gluten.
  5. That sounds like a great idea to me. The way cats climb and lick all over the place, that will be one less possible source of problems. Good for you. You sound like you figured this stuff out a lot faster than I did.
  6. I can only speak of my experiences, you need to figure out how your reactions work. I keep a food diary and monitor reactions. You said that you don't eat anything at every meal which would make you sick. In my case it is something I ate at any time the day before which makes me sick. I feel sick all day and at every meal, but it is something I ate the...
  7. My son was 10 when he was diagnosed and he vomited a lot while we were figuring out a diet that worked for him. It helps to keep a food diary to look for patterns. Some gluten free foods worked better for us than others. It helps to stick to meats, fruits and veggies, but that can be hard for a child who loves pizza and cookies like my son did. I hope...
  8. My son was diagnosed at age 10. That year he missed a third of school while we figured out how the diet worked for us (I was diagnosed too) and our super sensitivity. It was a very trying time as the school principal was giving me all sorts of grief for not sending him in when he was throwing up. When we came here for help, people kept telling us that...
  9. It is hard to tell when you are only a couple of months in. Maybe it would help to concentrate on eating more healthy meats, fruits and veggies.
  10. With my experience with my son and reading lots of posts, people with DH seem to be sensitive to very low levels of cc. Good luck.
  11. It makes me sick unless I make it myself. The information I read about the production of vinegar indicated that microbes are added after the distillation process. Their composition is stated to be gluten free.
  12. False negative tests are possible. I wonder if a gluten free diet might have an effect on the OCD and ticks? Might be worth a short trial.
  13. So true and altruistic of you.
  14. It would be nice to go back to zero at some point. I too got a warning as a newbie, years ago now. Even after it was explained to me, I had difficulty seeing how I broke the rules. Nonetheless I now censor my words so as not to do it again and be banned.
  15. Me too, and getting sicker and sicker while doing elimination diets until I finally guess right.
  16. This is interesting to read. The FDA did a study of research on how much gluten is safe for a celiac. They came up with a very low number. http://www.fda.gov/downloads/Food/ScienceResearch/ResearchAreas/RiskAssessmentSafetyAssessment/UCM264152.pdf

  17. Isn't that the case. My life seems like a science experiment. Everything that goes in my mouth and the mouths of my children has to be monitored. It gets tiresome. But, it is great to be healthy again! Life is good. As far as safe foods to start, I would say produce and meat roasts packaged at a meat only facility. Plus probably a good idea to...
  18. Yeah! I finally got a normal one again. I've been trying to figure out what is getting me for ages with careful elimination diets. The symptoms were pretty minor, but even minor symptoms aren't that great. This time I eliminated two things out of desperation to get better, now I need to decide which one to put back in again. What I do is keep a food...
  19. Me too, except that I don't have wheat allergy to my knowledge. I don't think that it is paranoia, it is a difference in sensitivity level.
  20. I'm sorry I can't help you there. I go whole foods all the way. You can make your own snack foods. I make potato and greens chips with the food dehydrator, for example. It also helps to cook extra and freeze so that you can thaw and eat when you are in a hurry. I wish you luck though.
  21. Tomatoes bothered me too. Then I found I could eat heirloom tomatoes from the farmer's market. The next year I grew my own and could eat those ones too. Good thing I did that because my supplier didn't return to the market that year. I don't know if it was the tomato variety, pesticides or something else. I had the same issue with some spices where...
  22. If you google it, you will come up with all sorts of sites. I use a Rival 3Q to make a half gallon of yogurt. I use a thermometer. On high it takes about 2 hours to get to 180. When I need to work, I put it on medium, and then when I get back I switch it to high and it only takes a few minutes to get to 180. Then I turn it off and keep the lid off to...
  23. Different celiacs react to different levels of gluten. It is possible that one girl needs a more careful diet than the other. You could try more of a whole foods diet.
  24. Tricia Thompson at Gluten Free Watchdog has tested some Food For Life products. Open Original Shared Link
  25. Your bathroom symptoms sound a lot like mine. False negative are possible. Be sure to try the diet anyway once the testing is complete, even if negative. It was such a relief to find how to stop those symptoms.
