  1. I am sensitive to very low amounts of gluten. So is my son. We tried for a year to share a house with gluten eaters. Finally they had to go gluten free at home because my son and I kept getting sick. No matter what precautions we took, we got sick. We also had to stop eating at restaurants. We got sensitive to lower levels as time went on. Food that...
  2. It really bugs me when things are advertised as 100% gluten free when they may contain almost 20 ppm gluten. That's not what 100% means.
  3. I'm a SUPER SENSITIVE CELIAC If you think you might be too, try a google search for more resources.

  4. I have read many posts by people who became sensitive to lower gluten levels after they had been gluten free for a couple of years. It certainly happened to me. I did start taking D, but that isn't what helped my energy levels, it was cutting out more processed foods which helped the most. I started keeping a food diary and challenging everything. After...
  5. Try a google search. I've seen one.
  6. I was diagnosed at age 48 and it is now over three years later. I was diagnosed with IBS when I was in my early 20's. I feel better now than I have since then. All those things, fatigue, decreased cognitive ability, decreased vision acuity, achy joints, weak muscles, etc. which I had attributed to aging were actually from celiac disease. As they went...
  7. As a super sensitive I will tell you that I no longer go to restaurants. I got tired of getting sick every time. I have to go to such extremes to make my food safe for me to eat. I can't imagine that it can be done in a restaurant.
  8. My glutenings used to be like that. Now that I am super gluten free my glutenings only last a day or so, but that is only glutening from very small amounts of gluten like a tiny bit of contamination of a gluten free food. We had to go to a gluten free household years ago. We just couldn't do it without me getting sick. Probiotics will help some. I hope...
  9. This could be my problem. I have had problems with fumigated nuts too. Do you have a source?
  10. I am sensitive to very low levels of gluten. I do react to a lot of gluten free grains, but not if I sort them and wash them carefully first. Some are contaminated with gluten, but they don't contain gluten themselves, or at least not the kind of gluten which harms celiacs. Gluten is a term used for storage protein of cereal grains. I think the guy is...
  11. I am very sensitive. We tried for a year to have a shared household. The non celiac members were my husband and my very mature 13 year old daughter. No matter how careful everyone was, I kept getting glutened. Things finally got better when we went to a gluten free household. I don't think that it can be done carefully enough if you are as sensitive...
  12. My daughter had a negative blood test about 2.5 years ago. This time we did a fecal test since it should be more sensitive and it came back at 110 for anti-gliadin IgA. Has anyone had both blood and fecal testing done to give me an idea of whether or not it would be a good idea to get a blood test too for better documentation? Would it just turn out negative...
  13. When I get glutened and I stop eating the thing that is glutening me, I start to improve after 24 hours. My celiac son keeps getting worse for 24 hours and then starts to improve. It seems to differ and that can be really confusing. Corn is often contaminated by wheat. I bought a bucket of corn and I go through it and remove the wheat berries before...
  14. I find stuck on particles of food after I run the dishwasher. It is certainly possible for it to happen after cleaning of dental equipment. Though I hope that it happens a lot less often! When the size of particle that will gluten a very sensitive celiac could be invisible to the human eye, it seem possible that it could happen in the dentist's office...
  15. Thank you for the posts. I've gotten sick the last two times. I'll ask for plain pumice next time and see if that makes the difference. I'll also ask about the autoclave.
  16. I experience the same thing. I have had to accept spending a lot of time preparing food. Sometimes I just don't want to do it. Then I get so hungry I do it anyway, but then I have to wait quite awhile until it is ready. Buying ready made would be nice, but I'd be happy to have someone else be able to prepare stuff. At least my son helps a bit. I think...
  17. You could talk to her doctor about fecal testing. It is controversial, but supposed to be more sensitive than blood testing.
  18. Yes and yes. You have to be paranoid. Keep a food journal. Add only one new thing a week. That really helps when it comes to figuring out what got you.
  19. Yes. There are people with positive biopsy and negative TTG. Also with DH and negative TTG.
  20. If you were eating in a restaurant it could be anything. If they would put a flour tortilla on there, who knows what else they might have done. I had to give up on restaurants as a super sensitive celiac.
  21. I'm not sure about your list. About 10% of celiacs react to gluten free oats. I react to them worse than I react to wheat. You are generally recommended to stay gluten free for six months or so to heal before trying oats.
  22. You might want to try Edaname in the pod, washing, shelling and washing first to be sure it isn't cc'ed. Then again, if you can't get uncontaminated soy, why bother. Unless, that is, you really love Edaname.
  23. You may be one who reacts to very low levels of gluten, even in gluten free foods, but without overt symptoms. I am symptomatic with a lot of them. You may need a whole foods diet like I do.
  24. Me too. I was sick for so many years that I still have stuff to catch up on. Lots of cleaning, reading, and going through papers. Initially I kept having set backs as I would have problems figuring out my diet and sensitivity level. It's getting better and better and the house is getting cleaner and cleaner. I hate housework, but love a clean house.
  25. I totally understand. In that case, eat a grain free whole foods diet. Wash everything carefully. Peel what you can. You can try more things later when you are up to it.
