  1. Even if you do have additional intolerances down the road (I do but very minor ones), you feel so much better that it is easy to adjust. However, I have only had small issues since I figured all the big stuff before. Now it is little stuff like the calcium suppliment in non-dairy milks (now I use Hemp) and tea. I am so happy to figure out when I have a problem...

    ARCHIVED Poll

I eat out but the number of places I trust is very limited. I run into problems when we travel but don't always do too bad.
  3. I love my chebe bread but since I started dieting and finally realized how many calories are in each bag and I eat them in two sittings (bread or rolls, two different days, pizza I eat half at a time), I have been staying away but I have been really craving it for a few weeks now. I think I will give in this weekend and treat myself.
  4. I don't remember how many bones you need but you make it just like chicken, only you need to cook it longer. I have a pressure cooker but have only used it for cold water canning. I have never actually used the pressure part of it. That is going to have to change once I start using it to can meals for vacations and camping.
  5. I am intolerant to soy lectin (and soy oil).
  6. Well, I can have some fermented stuff (tequilla, rum, and potato vodka are all OK) but that explains a lot about the citric acid. Arrowroot flour is an equal substitute for baking if you are making your own. The gluten free baking powder is corn based so you need to make your own. I *believe* it is a mix of baking soda and tarter powder but would...
  7. Those forums are pretty good... As to beef bullion, I make my own beef broth (and chicken broth). I get bones from the butcher and add veggies, garlic, seasoning, etc. and boil them for about 4+ hours. Makes a great broth and then I freeze the strained broth in 1 to 2 C containers. I use a lot more chicken broth so I haven't made any beef broth for a...
  8. These are all great tips but one more, watch out for Wheat Free. I tried that early on but it was made with spelt which I looked up after getting sick and spelt is an alternative wheat. I didn't replace my non-stick pans right away and paid the price by being sick, however, mildly at first and getting worse as time went on, by not doing that right away...
  9. The restricted diet isn't very bad at all, once you figure out what you can eat. You can substitute arrowroot flour for corn starch but you are right, many mixes have corn. Chebe mixes don't have corn and some are dairy free too.
  10. I can eat most rice but notice that some brands of rice bother me. I can eat brown rice depending on the company. White rice doesn't bother me at all.
  11. There was a replacement soy sauce recipe on here a while back that worked really well it had chicken broth, ginger, and I can't remember the rest but even the rest of the family liked it and agreed it was very similar, enough to substitute for soy sauce.
  12. I have your issues plus some and I eat out on a fairly regular basis but I have my selection of places that I go to often. In fact, I am just back from a great lunch where the chef/owner has a dish just for me (actually, there are a couple of those in town). I am very specific and ask a lot of questions if I have any doubts. I also send food back if...
  13. I was able to eat many legumes even after I realized I have a problem with soy, peanuts, and most beans (I still ate green beans and peas) but have since given them up because I noticed that either I noticed problems later or I was more sensitve. I have now given up all legumes. I believe that I read in the last Living Without that MSG is soy derived...
  14. I have many reactions to differnt lotions and soaps that cause reactions which my doc said are excema. I just finished getting rid of all my Eucerin lotion due to bumps all over my arms and legs. Lotion gone, bumps now gone. Some only cause a reaction on my hands. For some reason though, Eucerin doesn't bother my face or hands so I can still use my face moisturizer...

    ARCHIVED Red Lobster

Ditto - I have had great experiences with Red Lobster. I talk with the manager and/or chef, try to go at non busy times (but not always) and have had no problems with eating there.
  16. I liked the Hazelnut milk until I realized that I have an intolerance to the calcium that is added to almost all non-dairy milks and OJs. I now use plain hemp milk with no problems at all. I haven't tried the vanilla hemp milk yet.
  17. I have found that I cannot tolerate any grain alcohol. I also cannot tolerate wine due to a yeast issue. I can have tequilla, rum, and potato vodka. I now make my own vanilla for use in baking (with the potato vodka) and cannot have any of the Enjoy Life products that use vanilla. I don't know if it is a grain alcohol issue or not, only that I cannot...
  18. I like to make up homemade sausage ahead of time, freeze it, make chebe into rolls and have sausage and egg rolls. I usally cook enough potatoes in foil over coals for dinner (olivie oil, onion, salt, garlic, etc.) to have a few leftover in the morning to re-heat over the campfire (or in a skillet if it is too hot). Lunch is cold with a chicken prepared...
  19. I recently had to give up green tea and decaf iced tea. Not sure why - I also cannot tolerate the calcium suppliment that is added to many OJs and non-dairy milks. Life just can be difficult. I don't know why all these additional problems. However, I do know that if I eat too much of a food, I do develop an intolerance so I try to rotate most of my...
  20. Hey, I think that may be new - very cool. Next time, I will just order a few cases and then the bulk of the all-purpose mix (gluten-free/LF)!
  21. I know that we can't bring outside food in, I do it and don't tell the wait staff and don't request the microwave - I eat cold foods if I need to bring something and keep it to myself. Nobody has kicked me out yet.
  22. Eliminate the soy and see if you still have an egg issue. I have most of that and once you get used to it, it isn't bad at all. I use Enjoy Life chocolate chips. I am also intolerant to the calcium suppliment that is added to OJ and non-dairy milks. Most vanilla (that is gluten free) is derived from something I am intolerant too so that rules out many other...
  23. I have found that my husband makes the chebe bread the best, I don't or can't knead it enough due to wrist issues. Being yeast free too, this has been the best option for me for bread that doesn't fall apart when I try to make it into a sandwhich. I use it for sausage bisquits while camping, rolls for cashew butter and jelly sandwhiches, and I use the...
  24. I have eaten at O'Charley's locally and out and about of our smallish town with no problems. I let them know when I am coming and make sure I tell the waitstaff once I am seated.
  25. Yes I did. That is when I discovered my many other food intolerances. Once I removed gluten, I realized that other things were bothering me too. However, I do not have a celiac disease dx, I tried the gluten free diet and, amazingly got better. I think yeast was a hard one to figure out - it makes me sleepy and foggy. Another one I have that...
