  1. I would have something I would consider close to that. I would get this feeling at the base of my sternum up to my lower throat. To me it felt like that area seized up. I would get this feeling like my insides freezing up and I would get a severe headache. It finally went away after about a year gluten free.
  2. Hi Kay, I'm a family history nut. I went to genforum.com and typed in the names you were searching for and I came up with relatives. There is a Barton Reinhart that has a lot of info. I'm sure if you write to him he may have what you're looking for. Have fun Vicky
  3. I've had chest pains and problems breathing since I was 7. It wasn't until I got rid of everything from the gluten, dairy, soy and finally the nightshades that my asthma went away. That's when I finally started getting relief. I haven't had chest pain in almost 6 months now. It took almost a year for it to go away. This is also the first year since I was...
  4. I agree on the "Living Gluten Free for Dummies". Of all the books I have read this one is my favorite. Very concise and clear cut.
  5. I managed to last 5 days. Couldn't take it anymore. My legs and ankles were swollen. My left knee hurt like it was trying to come out of the socket. Felt like someone had hit me with a baseball bat right between my shoulder blades. I had extreme fatigue. Irritable wasn't the word, more like the angry witch b**ch from hell as my boyfriend put it. Migraine...
  6. Hi Crampy Girl. Do you live in OKC? If so, there is a big health food store off of I 240 and Pennsylvania st. They have loads of gluten free stuff.
  7. Thanks everyone for the advise and well wishes. I'm gonna need it. Lol. Yes, he is gonna slow or try to slow down on the cigs. He knows the smoke gives me problems. He's lost quite a bit of weight. 25 years ago he weighed 375. He now weighs in at 175. So, now, we're gonna see if he can deliver. I really hope so, because I really am in love with him and...
  8. I have been sick since i was 7 to 8 yrs old. You name it I had it. Major depression at the age of 8 is not normal. But then finding your mother in the bathtub with her throat and wrists slit will do that to you. She made it by the way. Anyway, my first pregnancy was bad. Had been anemic most of my life. Was sick 24/7, iron pills made me sicker, crackers...
  9. I can relate to this big time. I refered to it as being stuck with a lighted match in my muscles. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia but they didn't go away until a few weeks after going gluten free. I am begining to wonder if I was misdiagnosed.
  10. Ok everybody, I have been talking with my ex sweetie that I kicked out of my life for several reasons but one of them was because he kept glutening me. We were a team driving truck for those of you who are new. He refused to go gluten free and needless to say it got bad. Anyway, we have been talking again and he has said he is willing to go gluten free...

    ARCHIVED Grief

I guess I'm one of the odd ones. It's been over a year since I went gluten free and I couldn't be happier. That's not to say, that I haven't had bad days. But not one time have I grieved. After being so sick and miserable for close to 40 years, to finally know without a shadow of a doubt that all my problems weren't "all in my head". Well, the night I finally...
  12. Hey Cool, It's tough but you will feel so much better. I am gluten, dairy and soy free. Hang in there. It's been over a year and i find that i'm finally starting to be able to eat some dairy every once in a while. Like some little thing about once a week. No more than that or i have consequences. You can do it.
  13. I have not tested for celiac, and I refuse to. But, I believe I have it especially with the family history I have. My father died of colon cancer. He had it for close to 10 years before it got him, but I can remember him having stomach problems as far back as I can remember. He had his gallbladder out when I was 10. The dr's told him he wouldn't have his...
  14. Well, for me, my 8 year relationship ended a couple of months ago because he just couldn't understand that I needed to be as careful about cross contamination as I needed to be. He kept contaminating me and making me sick. Granted there were other problems but that was a major issue. As far as dating. I would rather date someone who has this than not because...
  15. I can remember from the age of about 7, I could be watching tv, reading a book or sleeping and my nose would just start gushing. We lived with my paternal grandmother at the time and she would grab me and stick my head under a water faucet, whether it was in the house or outside. She scared me. I thought she didn't like me and was trying to drown me. No one...
  16. I don't look down on people. I just feel sorry for them that they are making themselves sick. As for motivation. I have hurt since I was 7 years old from suicidal thoughts, feeling like someone was sticking my muscles with white hot pins or pokers, as well as flu like symptoms, major fatigue, dealing with alternating D and C. Allergies, chronic athmatic...
  17. Sorry you're feeling bad Skylark. Hang in there. I didn't get glutened but I ate some potato starch and whew, it got me. So we can both be miserable together.
  18. Thanks guys, I got some Benadryl last night and it hasn't phased it any at all. It has localised around my neck and shoulders. Looks like I have alligator skin. Lol, the rash isn't red now, just a bunch of bumps. They still itch and hurt though. I-Geek, I can tolerate tapioca starch. Thanks though. Mushroom, you're right, I think it's the potato starch...
  19. Drink plenty of water, take Pepto and I also take 2000 mgs of L-Glutamine. It helps with healing the intestines when you get glutened. It takes some of the edge off for me anyway. Also try to stay with bland foods. I'm dealing with something at the moment myself. I hope you get to feeling better. Vicky
  20. Since all of them have had the tests run I would reccomend taking them gluten free. Whether or not they have Celiac or or just gluten sensitive most if not all their symptoms will more than likely go away. The treatment is the same either way. Strict gluten free or try the Enterolab tests. It will not dx Celiac but will tell you if they are gluten sensitive...
  21. Well, I knew it. Ate 1 piece of Udi's bread 30 minutes ago. I now have a rash on the side of my neck. Not only does it itch, but it actually hurts. First time a rash has ever hurt on me. First time i've had a rash in close to 20 years infact. But I also have a rash on the back of my right shoulder and under my left breast. On top of that I feel like i'm running...
  22. Hi there, I consider myself to have Celiac. I have been sick almost all of my life. I've had depression, fatigue, asthma, allergies, as well as anxiety and the "flu", at least that's what it felt like, since I was 7 years old. Dr after dr told me everything from "there's nothing wrong with you" to "you're stressed out" to "it's all in your head, here...
  23. Gluten, soy and dairy, all three cause me to have high anxiety and depression as well as a lot of stomach pain. I would take her gluten free to see if that helps. I have a feeling it would help her tremendously.
  24. When I was pregnant with my first child. Bad Bad sick with preclampsia. He was born 2 months early then had 7 miscarriages on top of that, my nose would go to bleeding and after a while I could feel the blood going down the back of my throat and every time my heart beat I could feel the blood pump into my stomach. That was a scary, weird feeling.
  25. I always make sure about the date info was posted before I follow up on whether or not to keep the info.
