    ARCHIVED Migraines

If you are new to the diet some symptoms can get worse before they get better. Took me 3 months to see a difference and then by month 8 I was about back to normal. During the first 3 months though, I got symptoms worse then I had before. I think it was my body ridding itself of those toxins but since my body was so used to it I was experiencing withdrawal...
  2. I'm not 21 or older and do not drink but.... have you checked out the list on here of the alcoholic beverages that celiacs can have? That may give you a bit of an idea
  3. Do you want to have an official diagnosis? Or doesn't that matter? If you want an official diagnosis then in order for testing you need to be on gluten. You need to be on gluten for about 3 months consuming equivalent to 3 pieces of bread per day. They never usually do biopsies first. It can rule it in if it is positive but it can't rule it out because...
  4. Did you have blood tests too? If so, which ones? Have you had a gene test? If you do not have the gene you are 99.999% sure you do not have celiac but you could have just an intolerance then. If you have the gene, then you have predisposition to it and can have it activated. Yes, you can still have celiac disease with a negative biopsy. If there is not...
  5. I use a glue stick or a sponge but I will not lick it. Not only from a gluten perspective but how am I supposed to know where the envelope has been? I am a germ freak and that just seems like it would be filled with them.
  6. We use alot of Earth Balance products. If you go to their site you will find their products that are gluten and dairy free.Their website is www.earthbalance.net
  7. That right there can cause the weight loss. If you are having pretty frequent cheating episodes then that can cause alot of trouble and your body may not be absorbing nutrients right again, resulting in the weight loss.
  8. I also have not been married and am pretty young to think about it at this point.... I completely agree with the others that posted. Even though you say he is patient, the other things you are describing makes him sound like he's a little kid and is being selfish. The real world is tough, things happen and unexpected things happen that you have to deal...
  9. I loved biology too. I had the best teacher in high school. Since I am majoring in dietetics I have alot of that to study too.
  10. Last time we talked to them was late last year and they just would not confirm it so we don't use their products. Maybe they actually added gluten since then...I don't know
  11. I will not trust Tums. They told me they will not guarantee their products gluten free because they change their suppliers and so forth.
  12. Haha oops can you tell I've had a long day. I was multitasking and made a error Don't blame you for poking a little fun in there I would have done the same thing...you know what I meant: Thyroid disorders can be in connection with Anemia which are both in connection with celiac I would say you are having a reaction though. If you do in fact have...
  13. Usually when I email a company I will cover oats as well just because I am paranoid Most of the time I have received a response back including what I asked about which makes me feel better. I get what you are saying though...alot of companies refer to gluten as in wheat, rye, barley
  14. Usually the antibodies alone detect a reaction to gluten. They are not usually enough to diagnose you though...they usually use a full panel with other tests as well...but if just those show up that can mean it is just starting to activate in your body. It's not a useless test to have done it is just not usually sufficient for a diagnosis alone. I would...
  15. I have reactions that last for 2 weeks. You could be having a reaction from it now yes. I would say monitor it though. Have you had this kind of reaction before or is this the first time? Also, this is in relation to your anemia...have you had your thyroid checked? Thyroid disorders can be in connection with the thyroid which are both in connection with...
  16. EXACTLY!! Too much of anything will be detrimental. As my biology teacher used to say, " Everything in moderation, NOTHING in excess"
  17. Your gene test can be done at anytime as far as I know. Genes can't change with your diet.

    ARCHIVED Protien Bars

Balance will not hide anything....just check the label for wheat, rye, barley, oats. I don't think they have a list because they have that policy.
  19. Thanks for the link, I was not aware that there were tests to detect levels of rye and barley. I only thought it was for wheat
  20. You could get back on gluten and then get a blood test done in a few months. Make sure you get a complete panel done though which consists of the following: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Total Serum IgA They usually do blood tests first. Also, if you get a gene...
  21. Just talked to a representative of the company to make sure that their policy was still the same. They will not hide any wheat, rye, barley, or oats. They will clearly disclose it if it has any.
  22. Yea, the complete panel is what I listed. It is very effective. A gene test can rule celiac out but not in. If you do not have the gene you don't have celiac but could have a gluten intolerance. If you have the gene you have predisposition to celiac so could have it.
  23. I had a definite diagnosis by blood tests alone. Doctor felt there was not a need for a biopsy with the results. The tTG blood test is usually elevated when there is damage done and mine was almost triple what it should have been. That test is said to be taking the place of biopsies in the near future for kids too(its a very specific test) So in my opinion...
  24. Unless you need an offical diagnosis for some reason then I would not bother to get tested. If you are gluten free and feel better I would go with that. If you did want to be tested though, you would need to be on gluten for about 3 months and eat equivalent to about 3 pieces of bread every day for that long.
  25. This following information is from a book I got and it has a section about this law: This is what it will cover.. mik eggs shellfish fish soybeans peanuts tree nuts wheat The law also requires the FDA to issue final regulations for the use of the term "gluten free"on food labels Also, requires that the FDA conduct inspections and issue a...
