  1. An iron infusion will directly put it into your bloodstream. This would be beneficial if you are not absorbing nutrients. IV's are a good idea to. Supplements just won't cut it if you are not absorbing anything because they will go right through you, so that's where those things become beneficial As for the pan, what she was saying is if before you made...
  2. Well some people get worse reactions and more sensitive the longer they are gluten free. I know that's what happened to me. I didn't notice it at first but now I get reactions bad with the slightest amount. Feel better soon...we all make gluten mistakes...we just have to learn from them
  3. When I get glutened I get nausea, anxiety, fatigue, brain fog(completely out of it/lack of concentration)and constipation
  4. Yes, I don't use Malt-O-Meal anymore because they added wheat to their ingredients of the products that were once gluten free. However, Cocoa and Fruity Pebbles by Post are gluten free
  5. He meant one of the few on this board. This board mainly is female. There are a few guys on here though
  6. Spelt is for sure not ok. It's just like eating wheat. Spelt is a form of wheat. Celiacs can have a problem with absorbing nutrients (if untreated) and that may be the cause of you being low in b12 and iron. If you are in fact a celiac, have you eliminated all of gluten? Obviously you are still on some gluten because you are eating spelt so you should...
  7. We can have Cheetos
  8. Wow that is great! You are lucky to be feeling better so soon Hope you continue to feel better
  9. Thank you for the link...I am getting ready to leave the comp so I will read it next time I get back on. I definitely like learning all perspectives so I can make the best choice for my diet. I will definitely weigh out options and research the topic more.
  10. Yep it's corn...it is gluten free
  11. We got an update from them...they told us the storm is expected to go right over them but they think it is not as bad as Ivan was last year and hopefully they won't have as much damage. I think at this point they are most concerned about the flooding that they could get. My uncle said that(about 3 hours or so ago) it was a steady 80 mph wind and he said he...
  12. I didn't get a chance to read the full article but I did read a bit of it and it seemed to have some conflicting info from previous things I have read. There has been alot of debate on soy.Soy is common for people to have reactions to so I am not doubting that there have been reported problems. I think that the symptoms and side effects were highly exaggerated...

Yes, for food and drinks in the US the maltodextrin is gluten free unless otherwise stated on the label Glad the info helped you out a bit.
  14. Yep, that little bit can just cause your body to go all out of wack. As far as shampoos/hairspray/conditioners/bar soaps-I use Dove. Dove has a policy like Kraft does and will not hide anything on labels. I know some people on here use some different brands though. Softsoap has liquid soap that is gluten free Also, make sure makeups are gluten free...
  15. Hi Melly Welcome to the board. I am Kaiti and I am 17(18 in a few days) so I am a bit older but feel free to email or instant message me anytime if you have any questions or would like to talk. And you can have so many good tasting things that your friends can have. For just about everything that contains gluten there is another version that does not...

Maltodextrin in the U.S is safe unless it says on the label otherwise. However, it is a different story with medications...in meds, maltodextrin can be questionable... but as far as foods and drinks go that is the policy So it depends where you live...in other countries you do have to check and see if it contains gluten. I am sure that someone on...

If you don't get a GI doctor for your followup you should have a general doctor who at least knows about celiac. If you go to the homepage of this site you and scroll down there is a link to doctors recommended by other celiacs. You can look up your state and everything to see doctors in your area. Any doctor can give you followup blood work but ones...
  18. I was actually told by the doctor to eat things like soy and peanuts to slow my thyroid down. About half of the Internet info is inaccurate so it's hard to know what is wrong or right sometimes. You can look up dangers of almost anything and find things that are pretty scary . There are some things in the article that I know are inaccurate as well. I...
  19. Heidi- The "Gluten Free Bible" is filled with numerous errors with what is and is not gluten free. I would not listen to everything in that book. This site is a much better resource. I also have Graves Disease
  20. I thought that soy will slow down your thyroid. I have hear people with hyperthyroid like me(who have a tendency to have trouble gaining weight) should have soy to slow the thyroid down. Have you heard differently? Steve-There are some really good brands of gluten free bread you can get that have alot of calories. Since you are also lactose free I can...
  21. celiac3270- That's what I thought to...I guess it can be used both ways
  22. I have always been naturally thin and I also have a fast metabolism. I was a healthy weight until I lost weight with celiac (about 21 pounds) Once going gluten free I gained it all back. So my guess is you will at least gain a little bit of weight but I think that will be a good thing...I don't think you will gain too much

You should get a GI doctor who is a bit knowledgeable in celiac. I think every celiac needs a GI that is knowledgable with it. You should followup with him about every 3 months at the beginning and then maybe longer as you progress Also, 3 months may not be long enough for symptoms to go away. It varies person to person. So if you still have good and bad...
  24. My cousin lives right near Mobile, AL and they just got done fixing all the damage to the houses that they own and rent out to people(the roofs were torn off of almost every house and trees fell on their house and caused a bit of damage) from last years hurricane that hit them. They did not evacuate last year and I think they are going to be stubborn again...
