Tigercat17 replied to Pittrider07's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hi Mamaw, Thanks for the information! I'm so dissappointed to hear about Mandy's. A friend just told me about them & I was thinking about trying their pizza. What a bummer. Anyway, is there any way you could give me more information on your group? It would be so nice to meet everyone! Thanks! I Love Sorgels by the way! I was just there last... -

ARCHIVED Boost
Tigercat17 replied to Tigercat17's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ho Ravenwoodglass, I know the feeling. I have that fan on all night, too! I do have allergies, too. Dust cats, dogs and everything else you could think of. I've been using my nasal Netti pot almost everyday. It does seem to help but that sore throat won't go away. My allergies could definitely be aggravating my throat, but I know I'm not getting sick... -

Tigercat17 replied to Tigercat17's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks everyone for your replies! I just called Boost again & the rep. told me something completely different than last week. This time they told me that they are completely gluten free. When I asked if they test for gluten, she wouldn't give me any "ppm" information. She just kept telling me they are completely gluten free. She also said that the... -

Tigercat17 replied to Tigercat17's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Good point Tarnalbarry! I'll give them a call back tomorrow to make sure there wasn't any misunderstandings. I hate to keep calling but I really want to get to the bottom of this. Not just for me, but for all of us. I know a lot of people here drink the Boost. If it's 200 ppm than that's really not gluten free (to me anyway). Also, I've been hyperthyroid... -

Tigercat17 replied to Tigercat17's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks so much Ravenwood glass! You are a Blessing!!! I think this is what's been bothering me all this time! It really makes me mad. I've been trying to figure it out for months. This was the last item I Ever thought it would be. I did stop drinking them a couple of weeks ago & I was starting to feel really good & my sore throat was almost... -
Hi everyone, I recently called the company that makes Boost to ask if their product was ever tested for gluten or if there's a chance for cross contamination. I was surprised by their response. The phone representative told me they are made in the presence of gluten, they always clean their lines & they do test for gluten periodically. The results...

ARCHIVED Whats The Final Verdict On Chex?
Tigercat17 replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I get a reaction every time I try them. First I tried the Cinnamon Chex & then I just tried to Corn Chex two weeks ago & I still get the same stomach tenders & my acid reflex comes back the next day. At first I thought it was cinnamon but I'm still getting that same reaction I'm not sure what it is. I just know they bother me. -
Hi there! When I get glutened, I try to drink a lot of water & even if I don't feel like it exercise!!! Anything aerobics- like running, walking or anything that will bring a good sweat on. This helps the digestive system & improves circulation & healing. Also I stay away from dairy products for a little while. Yogurt is good too, if you...

ARCHIVED Any Advice? .. Please
Tigercat17 replied to dii103's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hang in there! I know it's hard to deal with , but you will get through it all & feel so much better too! I would get the upper endoscopy done as soon as possible & keep eating normally even though it's making you sick. If you stop eating gluten & you get the endoscopy test done, it could seriously effect the results & you want to make... -
ARCHIVED Friend Frustration!
Tigercat17 replied to The Glutenator's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I won't call her a friend either. Seems like she just doesn't get it. Bring your own food & take care of yourself. I bring my own food all the time to family & friends houses and they completely understand. I talk about the celiac disease a lot just to bring more awareness of celiac & to help others. I won't want them to worry about getting me... -
Hi Heather! You really are so lucky you got diagnosed before you started having more serious symptoms. I was always like you always slender-100-106 lbs, 5'1", always a big eater & my only symptom was anemia 10 years ago. I was able to eat everything & never had any problems at all. Now, my body has been so through much because I was misdiagnosed...

ARCHIVED Casein Intolerance Or Glutening?
Tigercat17 replied to Tigercat17's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That's for all the suggestions everyone. I am just feeling so disgusted with this disease. Just when I think I feel better, I start not feeling good again. I do really think I'm still getting some gluten somewhere. I've been gluten free for 10 months now & my antibodies still are high. They were 167 when I was diagnosed & last month 60. Shouldn't... -
Hi everyone, I really need some help. I was hoping someone could help me figure this out. I'm wondering if I have a casein intolerance or if I'm getting gluten somewhere? I'm still having acid reflex occasionally & this was my main symptom when I was first diagnosed. Last Sept I had serve acid reflex & I completely lost my voice for 6 weeks and...

Tigercat17 replied to AlysounRI's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
WOW Ravenwoodglass! That sounds great! You always have the best advice! I've had similar problems with other gluten free breads & I just feel so full afterward. My husband said the same thing & he's not the celiac in the house, just me, so I know it's not gluten. I do think it's just the texture & the different flours some use. For me it's... -

Tigercat17 replied to DG61's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It's really up to you but if you're still not feeling well, me personally, I won't add those items to your new gluten free kitchen. This is just my opinion. I'm extra careful & it took me five months to get better. I also have a gluten free kitchen. At first I didn't allow cross cont. items in my house until I felt good. Now I will allow some items that... -

Tigercat17 replied to mznia504's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
That's awesome! I live in Pittsburgh & we do have a gluten free bakery called The Gluuteny. I think they do pretty well & I being a celiac, I really appreciate their efforts. They do agreat job! Tigercat17 replied to Tigercat17's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the heads-up Wolicki & JNBunnie! I can't believe it! I'm even more depressed. I really thought wine was like milk... one of the few things we didn't have to call on. I guess I'll have to start making my phone calls... I use wine a lot in my recipes. -
ARCHIVED Jim Beam Bourbon
Tigercat17 replied to Tigercat17's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wow! Thanks Ravenwood glass & Wolicki! I didn't realize I would have to worry about distilled liquor. I haven't had any yet, just a glass of wine. And I know I'm not healed all the way either so I will definitely stay away from it. It's not too hard, but I do love my wine. Do I have to check all the wine I drink too? Or is all wine gluten free? ... -

Tigercat17 replied to Tigercat17's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks Donald & Alanda! After reading how it was made on their website I got a little worried. I don't eat or drink anything unless I'm absolutely sure it's gluten free. Thanks again! -

Hi everyone! I just received this list from Loreal last week - it's pretty recent. Most of the ingredients are the same as the list Ravenwoodglass posted & some are new. Thanks Ravenwood! I don't know half of what these ingredients are, but here goes... Boy, the price we pay for beauty... it's scary what we put on our bodies! Avena...
