  1. I don't think so - but I think those of us who are very likely or probably celiac do.
  2. Yes- I've had two neg for H.Pylori, haven't had one since going gluten free - my last one was just before I went gluten free took nexium for it and then haven't needed anything since.
  3. Although there are differences in being Celiac and Gluten intolerance - some disagree, but the fact is that Celiac is an autoimmune disease and if you have one you are prone to more. Also if you are an undiagnosed cealiac eating gluten then you can *trigger* other autoimmune diseases. And risk of cancer is much higher in Celiacs who eat gluten. So there are...
  4. For me it was instant - I went gluten-free and the GERD went away that day. I have it really mildly occasionally = but I was medicated for years (which wasn't working) and I haven't been on meds since. Burning pain that relieves when you eat?? Sounds like it could be Stomach ulcers! Which can also be cause by Celiac!! Have you ever been put on proton...
  5. yeah - I know what you mean. Celiac is the only autoimmune disease that you can put completely (usually) into remission. I have other autoimmune stuff happening - and they still don't know why. They are talking hip dye injections next Before we realised it was gluten - my GI suspected something completely different that would require multiple operations...
  6. I am supposed to have an endo at some point to see what damage my GERD has done. I had it very badly for years...until I went gluten free. Sometimes I need a tum - but I have had no medication for it since going gluten-free. So to answer - GERD can cause BE and Celiac/Gluten Intolerance can cause GERD. Hope that helps!
  7. We are moving but keeping our Paed GI - I will have to drive down about once every 3 months to see him - but he is worth it. His name is Dr Avi (Daniel) Lemberg and he is a GI at Randwick childrens - we see him at his private rooms though. The other Dr who is supposed to be brilliant is Dr Rueben Jackson and he is a Randwick too. The thing is - at the end...
  8. It annoys me sometimes too, although its sort of second nature now, I think after you just get used to it ya know?
  9. They sure do, but the one that is 'may contain gluten' is in the gluten free/health food section
  10. I see one of the best Drs here for children - and he says 3 months 4 slices of bread a day. Coeliac society says the same thing. I guess at the end of the day they want it to be accurate ya know. I am possibly about to start with my 2 and a half year old. But I will pull him off if it gets too bad.
  11. It sounds like you have so much red tape to go through to get answers. I usually am of the 'hold out for a diagnosis' kind of person, but it really doesn't sound like you are going to get one. Most Drs don;t know the first thing about coeliac. The other thing you could do is go gluten free and get your genes tested, they aren't full proof but Its around ...

    ARCHIVED Argh

If you are that sensitive then maybe you should make your home gluten free??? Others in your house won't die for not eating gluten while they are around you and then they can just eat it when they are out?? Is that an option for you?
  13. That sounds EXACTLY like when i had my stomach ulcers. Like a gnawing pain - like a mouse eating away at my stomach or something, temporarily relieved by eating and then back again all the time, excessive belching etc. My ulcers were cause by acid/GERD which was caused by gluten. If it is that you need to see your Dr asap. Tell him/her you are in pain and...
  14. Oh god - I am with you love2travel. I hate hate drawing attention to myself when eating out. I hate being "the gluten free one" hate, hate, hate!
  15. And re-occurent chest/Ear infections, mouth and nose ulcers and Intussusception which is by far my worst symptom. Ugh.
  16. Wow - what an interesting read prickly - especially about the 53% who felt better on the diet with no elevated anitbodies or gut damage! I know gluten intolerance is very real -but that means it is very very, common also! I would feel much the same saintmaybe - re the vaccine, if I could guarantee that I never got glutened again Does sound invasive...
  17. If you read up about it, it says that it is dealing with the immune response. Says nothing about the type of symptoms, but that it is similar to what they do to desensitise people who are allergic to things.
  18. Ask for a copy of every single test and results. I didn;t and it has made a mess of my diag.
  19. Yes and Yes, mine resolves on its own and then comes back if I eat gluten. So the only thing I can do about it is remain gluten free. The thing is you never know when it won't resolve and end up needing surgery. I had a very bad episode in January of this year when pregnant. I really thought I would die and the GI said it sounded as if it had *stuck* for...
  20. Wouldn't it be which one of your genes was the one that was triggered, which they still can't tell can they? So if its your DQ8 it wouldn't work but if it was your DQ2 it would...Complicated!
  21. I am the same ssg (can I call you that - Even if I had the vaccine, it wouldn't mean I would eat gluten again - just that I won't have to be scared if I did get glutened!
  22. Arrghh = I just read that it'll only work with bloody DQ2 - arrghhh!! Where is the little emoticon that hits itself in the head with a hammer!
  23. They are in clinical trials here in Australia - seems to be going well . Open Original Shared Link 09/05/11 Coeliac disease vaccine shows promising results in Phase I trial The world
  24. I forgot the most important reason for me to get a diag! You will only be able to get the vaccine when it comes out (In Australia) if you have been diagnosed via biopsy - otherwise it is tough luck. Now - I know that lots of people don't want to have it and that is great. But truth be told - every time I am out of the house - I bite into something and think...
  25. I'm not sure if its different between children and adults - but my intussusception on a scale of 1-10 is 10 - its is as bad as labour (and I had a shocking labour that all went wrong). I was talking to my sons Paed GI about it - and he was saying- I/S can be agonising - so bad that lots of people can't even describe it. Some people have no pain, some have...
