  1. I am going to personal message you the email of someone who has been dealing with this same thing for a few years.
  2. I don't know how old the kid is, but could he be getting it at school or friends houses? Either accidentally or on purpose? I have seen kids that think "I eat that at my house so it must be OK at Johnny's house" A goods example is Rice Krispie treats. Kids might not realize there is a specific gluten-free Rice Krispies mom makes them with.
  3. Are there any Down's Syndrome forums? I have heard from a couple of people who have adult children with Down's and diagnosed celiac that there are some unique issues. Edit: I am trying to get in touch with one of them. I'll let you know if I find her.
  4. I use the same plates and silverware and the same dishwasher.
  5. You might want to make a new topic on the forum. Blogs are more like a place to write about experiences. You will get more answers on the Forum section. The doctors may be stalling on the endoscopy because, if the kids are gluten free, they should be healing and the endo would be negative. Check out this website for some helpful info you can show to doctors...
  6. Has this happened in the last week? I'm going to assume its been slowly building for a while. It take much more than a week to feel better. Hopefully, the tiredness, etc is a result of the lack of nutrients he has been absorbing and it will get better. You might want to ask his doctor about testing to see what he lacks - vit d, b12, iron, etc. Have...
  7. PLEASE! Check the ingredients. They may still be gluten-free but the original thread is 2008, then a response a year ago that they are gluten-free in CANADA. Ingredients are not always the same. But, it's pretty simple. Just read the ingredients.
  8. Here is what the experts say: Open Original Shared Link How often should follow-up testing occur? New celiacs should receive follow-up testing twice in the first year after their diagnosis. The first appointment should occur 3-6 months after the diagnosis, and the second should occur after 1 year on a gluten-free diet. After that, a celiac should...
  9. Just an FYI - This thread is 7 years old. Jebus hasn't been active since 2006.
  10. You say you had a colonoscopy to look for Celiac? That isn't the right end. Did they do an endoscopy, too?
  11. The Nature Fusions are supposed to be gluten-free and dye free and artificial flavor free. I just couldn't find it at the two places I looked. Where do you get it?
  12. Well. that's easy - nothing that says wheat, rye, barley, barley malt, the word "malt" with no other clarification, oats that are not certified gluten-free. I took a few things off this list like beer and cookie dough - because preschools shouldn't have beer and if they read the ingredients on the cookie dough, they will see it says wheat. I added a few...
  13. Your blood work should be negative after a few months gluten free. You can't use that to prove you don't have Celiac.
  14. People around here are dropping like flies with the flu. Figured I should get some cold type meds before I need them as it can be a hassle to check gluten-free status. Target's brand - Up and Up - has some things labelled gluten-free. The cough drops even said "certified gluten-free" with the gluten-free in the circle symbol. I found Cold meds that...
  15. If it were me, I would tell the preschool that I will provide all food - lunches, snacks, etc. Maybe even leave a little bag of fruit snacks or something. Ask about special days like birthdays so your child can bring her own cupcake/chocolate Udis muffin. I would then instruct them on how to keep the other kids and the staff's gluteny hand off her safe...
  16. It can takes months to heal. It could be another cause. He could have eaten something he didn't realize had gluten (happens a lot in the beginning). Is your doctor willing to diagnose him as having Celiac with a negative biopsy? If not, I would put him back on gluten until the endo is finished. Maybe they could do a colonoscopy at the same time to...
  17. If you have a FODMAP issue, that could be your reaction.
  18. Aren't those things bad on the FODMAPS diet?
  19. Look at this post . That's where we got it from. We asked if it was a typo as taking an iodine supplement didn't make any sense. We all saw that, and thought " there is the problem! Extra iodine". And this also says you don't have a link to wine....... I'm so confused!
  20. We understand that you don't eat foods with iodine. What we don't understand is why you are eating extra iodine in the form if a supplement. We thought that might have been a typo. Honestly, if ingesting iodine in food is bad - ingesting iodine in a little pill is bad, too.
  21. Open Original Shared Link How much gluten should be consumed prior to being screened for celiac disease? It’s best to continue a normal, gluten-containing diet before being screened and diagnosed. If a gluten-free diet has been followed for more than a few weeks, then we recommend eating at least 1 serving of gluten (1/2 slice of bread or a cracker, ...
  22. That is odd. OP said low iodine in the first post. Maybe a typo? Or one of those odd auto-corrects? I don't know why my iPad often thinks it knows what I want to say - its usually wrong!
  23. He doesn't sound like a very nice guy. Spreading gluten flour and the smell of delicious bread you can't eat? Maybe get him some very expensive shoes in your size? Or a nice diamond necklace? Something you can truly share with him.
  24. Why would you take iodine if you have DH? Iodine aggravates DH. Maybe that's your answer?
  25. The wheat will be labelled in the ingredients. Stupid to put wheat in it..... but at least you can read the ingredients. I like Kitchen Basics Open Original Shared Link
