ARCHIVED Test Result Help/need To Re-Challenge?
kareng replied to corabelle's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Some info that might help: Open Original Shared Link What is a gluten challenge? A gluten challenge is the period of time when gluten is added back into a person’s diet to assist in the diagnosis of celiac disease. Antibodies take time to build into the blood stream before they can be detected through blood analysis. For a gluten challenge w... -

Connection Between Grapes And Gluten?
kareng replied to Flyingmango's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
This topic is almost 8 years old. Grapes do not contain gluten. As these posters mentioned, it could be other substances in the grapes or wine that bother you. -

ARCHIVED Suddenly Intolerant Of Dairy?
kareng replied to Missy1306's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Additives may cause you issues, but that does not make them gluten or even "similar to gluten". I'm not sure what you are trying to say? Perhaps you could provide some research that shows this? But, these theories really aren't on subject. Maybe make a new thread to discuss them? -
ARCHIVED So Discouraged, Hypoclycemic And Stomach Inflamation
kareng replied to CynthiaSt's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The GI isn't really going to deal with anything other than GI issues - an ulcer or the basics of Celiac. That is why I was hoping you would see a medical doctor who could look into other causes of the hypoglycemia such as thyroid, diabetes, etc. Maybe you don't even have hypoglycemia if a doctor hasn't diagnosed it. Getting help with the nutrition is... -
ARCHIVED Ortega Taco Seasoning Mix?
kareng replied to Nikki2777's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would read the ingredients. Wheat, which is sometimes added to taco or chili seasoning, must be listed in the ingredients. With the new laws going into effect, a lot of companies won't list things as gluten-free if they haven't tested them. Doesn't mean they aren't gluten free - just that the company isn't going to spend the extra time and money on testing... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Chicken Broth...
kareng replied to josh052980's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The info on this thread is a few years old. Ingredients change over that time. Also, ingredients can be different in different countries. Soup seems to commonly have different ingredients in different countries. -
ARCHIVED So Discouraged, Hypoclycemic And Stomach Inflamation
kareng replied to CynthiaSt's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you have hypoglycemia - what do the doctor say about that? How did they diagnosis it? Thyroid issues? These are some serious medical conditions to be going to someone who is not a doctor to get treated for. I urge you to seek medical help. It worries me to see people not getting real medical help for serious illnesses. -
ARCHIVED Seasoning Mixes - Learning It The Hard Way
kareng replied to Thickleg's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The good news is, they have to list wheat as an ingredient. It can't hide as " seasoning" or "spice". The bad news is, you have to read everything because they seem to use wheat as a cheap filler to make the taco seasoning, or whatever seasoning, seem fuller. This is for the US, Canada and some other countries. I would either not eat at these gathering... -
ARCHIVED So Discouraged, Hypoclycemic And Stomach Inflamation
kareng replied to CynthiaSt's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Maybe you should see a doctor about testing and treatment for that stomach ulcer. Sounds like you can't eat because of it. What did the doctor that found the ulcer tell you to do to treat it? Do that before you go looking for alternative treatments. If the stuff this person gave you is making the ulcer worse - stop taking them! -
ARCHIVED Is It Just Me, Or Are Others Not Able To Copy And Paste Links?
kareng replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
A spinning circle sounds like what you get when your computer is "working" on something. Either your internet connection is slow or overwhelmed with users or your computer might have eaten some gluten (run a malware program to try to fix that). We have found that this forum doesn't always work as well with Internet explorer. Google chrome seems to work... -

ARCHIVED Help! Are Sonic Drinks gluten-free?
kareng replied to MommyOfTwinkies<3's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Did you look on line? I think sonic has a list of allergens. I would think slushes would be safer than shakes as they mix cookies into some of the shakes and the mixers probably aren't thoroughly cleaned between shakes. -

ARCHIVED Suddenly Intolerant Of Dairy?
kareng replied to Missy1306's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm in the US and have never seen a bacon with gluten. But if you were eating out, maybe there was some cc from the grill or something. I'll try one more time as I don't want to keep hijacking this thread. Here is what Celiac experts say about eating gluten before testing for celiac. ARCHIVED Suddenly Intolerant Of Dairy?
kareng replied to Missy1306's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm curious - if they are labelled gluten-free, how do you know they have gluten? Maybe something else is the issue. Because, honestly, I rarely get " glutened". It's more likely to happen at a restaurant. -
ARCHIVED Suddenly Intolerant Of Dairy?
kareng replied to Missy1306's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
You know that, if you have been gluten free for a year, it is unlikely they will find any Celiac damage. It is possible to become lactose intolerant at any time in your life so that may be your new issue. -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else ?
kareng replied to Aquadan005's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm not sure why you need a hematologist. Once your Celiac starts to heal, you will start to absorb the vitamins. IN fact, use a sublingual B12 and it bypasses the intestines. -
