  1. Open Original Shared Link Why not believe people with a medical degree who are experts in celiac Disease?
  2. Only the Puffs labelled gluten-free are actually gluten-free. They have a lot of ingredients, so who knows what might be bothering you. I have eaten them and been fine, but they aren't that great and they are basically junk.
  3. To rephrase this: Kraft has an excellent ingredient labeling policy. They label all gluten ingredients clearly as in no odd names . There ingredients will say malt ( barley). Or some other clear and easy to read and understand text.
  4. Anyone besides me going to the conference in a few weeks?
  5. If you think you need to test your kids for Celiac, don't take them off of gluten until a medical doctor has blood tested and maybe endoscoped them. Enterolabs " stool tests" are not medically accepted. You might have a hard time getting doctor's notes for school, camps, etc for the kids with those tests. As an adult, if you feel better off gluten,...
  6. I agree that is frustrating but I don't think its the same as a diabetic eating at a restauruant. They can order salad instead of potatoes or cake. It won't hurt them if someone accidentally gets a little potato in their salad. For a Celiac, its more than just gluten-free ingredients. It's extra care not to cook our bacon where they just made a grilled...

    ARCHIVED Pregnancy

Open Original Shared Link Given that celiac disease is associated with infertility, what can a woman with celiac disease do to help her get pregnant? A strict gluten-free diet for a few months and a good multivitamin are all a woman with celiac disease needs to be sure there’s no interference with fertility.
  8. You can sign up for email alerts for product recalls due to undeclared allergens. Here are some of the recent wheat and other ones ones: Open Original Shared Link This one is a bit odd - they put Chicken broth label on Spaghettios I think if you opened the can, you would notice it wasn't broth and not eat it. I hope.... There...
  9. Me, too. But it took a bit of time. My sister will make food and run the ingredients and procedures by me first. That seems to work. Maybe she is afraid I'll pound her if she scews up? Open Original Shared Link
  10. Dinkel and triticum are forms of wheat. People with Celiac should not eat them. If your husband has Celiac, he should not eat them. A smaller amount of gluten is still gluten.
  11. You might have a hard time finding a legit doctor that will help you with " cross- re activities" as that isn't really scientifically backed up at this point. Open Original Shared Link It can take a year or more to get better from Celiac. You might want to cut dairy, if you haven't, as that is hard to digest with damaged villi. Maybe make sure you...
  12. The links Works for me
  13. Nope! The bins become empty....some worker dusts them out and fills them with something different. People use the scoops from one bin to another. People stick their dirty fingers in them.... Maybe you could get it from the newly opened bags? Make a friend at the store. If they are in those bins that you slide it and stuff falls out, with no chance...
  14. There are many dogs and some cats that have a gluten problem. My Lab does much better gluten-free and grain free. I have heard many Lab owners have found this out. I was hoping the vegan place was an actual cafe. We have a couple here that do a good job with gluten-free. It's not the same as a steak place....but it's fun once in a while.
  15. It's normal for it to take a year or two, even without any accidental gluten. Even if your gut is healed, it can take a long time to get things back in balance and running smoothly. And you will need to figure out if your new diet gives you enough fiber, or too much fiber, too much fat, etc. all things that have to get balanced out.
  16. I'm not vegan either, but some of those vegan eateries are really good about gluten-free and cc. There might be something you like there to eat once in a while. It's nice to be able to not have to bring your own food all the time. You mention you work in a clinic and the people don't seem to know about Celiac? Maybe this is a good chance to educate them...
  17. Sounds like you live with gluten eaters. You have your own Pb, jelly, butter tub, mayo, etc that no one is allowed to double dip their gluten knife in? You use a separate toaster, if you use a toaster? A gluten-free only colander for rinsing fruits, veggies, beans, gluten-free pasta? You might want to get your thyroid tested? Maybe see if you are anemic...
  18. I think sweet potatoes are Ok with diabetes? Not the same I start carb hit as white potatoes? Vodka and mango....maybe not so much
  19. So you never eat frozen veggies? Fresh fruits? Canned pineapple? Dried beans? Meats? It's your choice but hard to eat healthy that way. As far as meds, very few have gluten in them, so I'm not sure about cc. I wonder how many drug companies say gluten-free but haven't tested them. I guess you could call every food or drug company and quiz them about...
  20. The 6 minute boil? I got that from The .Rachael Ray Show! !
  21. There is a difference between " yes. Our drug contains gluten" and "we don't knowingly use gluten "but, because we don't test for gluten, we will no longer say officially " gluten free". I choose to read the ingredients. You may decide to use it or not. That would be your choice.
  22. But that is for the second group of " no gluten ingredient" products. The ones they label gluten-free, including the Ruffles, say: "Some people suffer from an intolerance to foods containing gluten, which is a type of protein found in wheat, rye and barley. Frito-Lay has validated through analytical testing that the following products contain less than...
  23. Do this and I bet it will be yummy! Might be able to use half and half to cut back on calories? Open Original Shared Link Or just some garlic and olive oil as a base is nice. I think the pre -shredded has that gritty cellulose powder on it. I get parm that is pre-shredded but doesn't have the cellulose. I know parm doesn't melt well. I...
  24. Hey, Steph! I think your link didn't work?
