  2. That's horrible! Glad you are OK! Were you cleaning up as you cooked? I think you should stop washing dishes and cleaning!
  3. Yes. Damaged intestines will do that. One thing we should point out is - you must be eating gluten to get positive blood tests and endoscopy.
  4. Hard to know. Could be what you ate yesterday. Could be a touch of food poisioning. Could be a stomach virus. Etc.
  5. A medical doctor isn't likely to use the Stool testing results as they have not been proven to be accurate. You can always try a gluten-free diet and see if it helps. You could have non- celiac gluten intolerance. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link "Is there a stool test to determine whether or not I have celiac disease? Stool tests...
  6. Never seen one in the US.
  7. Yep! And Yep! Never eat a stuffed with gluten turkey and never saw a plain frozen turkey with gluten. A few of them have a gravy packet, I have heard, but it is sealed and you would just throw it out.
  8. You could try some compact discs or an Ipod, too! (love the helpful nature of this site!) Good luck with the procedures. Sending positive thoughts!
  9. Blood tests are based on antibodies that are made in response to gluten. If you aren't eating gluten, you won't make any antibodies. If you don't make antibodies, your tests will be negative. That is the way Celiac testing works. Sounds like your wife does not have Celiac? There are no tests for non- Celiac gluten sensitivity except to not eat gluten...
  10. One of my kids Celiac panel was 1 vial sent to Mayo. So hopefully.....

  12. Here is a good place to start https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ Make as much of your food gluten-free and the accidental crumbs will be reduced.
  13. Open Original Shared Link I’ve tested with the genes for celiac disease, but I haven’t yet shown any symptoms for it. What should I do? We recommend that you undergo a blood screen every 2-3 years or immediately upon the appearance of symptoms. This is especially true for 1st-degree relatives (parents, siblings, children) of someone with celiac disease.
  14. Great! Lots of stuff posted in between! I see no reason her pediatrician couldn't test her blood for vitamins, etc. I found this but it seems a bit extreme if you haven't had blood levels done first. Maybe something down the road if things don't improve? Open Original Shared Link
  15. Not sure what exactly you mean? A doctor can test blood to see if the iron, vit D, B12, etc is at a good level or not. I would be careful about some of these " tests" by "doctors" that are not MDs. Many have no real science behind them and are designed to extract your money as insurance won't cover them.
  16. You must have really thrown that cheese hard! Lucky your hub or one of the kids didn't get hit with it! Lol I'm enjoying the thought of a chunk of cheese flying through the window and hitting some unsuspecting squirrel! Thanks for the laugh! That's about the funniest thing in my day ( unfortunately).
  17. That's one way to avoid a food! . Hope the window was open.
  18. You are eating so much gluten, I doubt the tiny bit in the malt balls makes such a huge difference. Feeling yucky and then adding hormones can make you grouchy. If you have Celiac, you probably aren't absorbing your medications well, either.
  19. My mouth is watering no my thighs are getting bigger just reading this! You don't need to make angel cake for me! Lemon curd is just fine! Had chicken tacos tonight! Yum! Tomorrow night - hub is grilling steaks and chicken, crockpot Au gratin potatoes, salad, carrot sticks ( for the no salad kids and my mom), coconut tres leches cake and a...
  20. Absolutely! What Addie says! Never pay or take possession of a perscription med if you are not sure of its gluten-free status. Once you have purchased/run it through insurance, you can not return it and get something else. I check with the pharmacy first on the brand and check with the company myself. That said - I have never found one in my gluten...
  21. If you have been diagnosed with DH, you have Celiac. Maybe show your doctors some info from other doctors ( more info at that link) Open Original Shared Link "What is dermatitis herpetiformis (DH)? 23. Could be gluten. Denny's isn't really a place I would trust. They may have put the piece of toast that comes with the meal on top of the eggs and the waitress took it off before serving. Or cooked the hash browns where they just made pancakes, etc, etc, etc....
  24. Open Original Shared Link Can a skin biopsy for dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) confirm celiac disease or is an endoscopy still needed? A skin biopsy should be done on a non-affected portion of the skin near the rash when there is an outbreak. It’s not necessary to perform an intestinal biopsy to establish the diagnosis of celiac disease in a patient with D...
  25. Blue dye makes things look whiter. The cheaper ones might be a little less white? It is probably not a very noticeable difference.
