  1. Diana, I just posted about this little food warmer. About $20 and I have seen them at Target in the last week or so. You might be able to get a car adapter and plug it in in the car to heat some soup or casserole for your trip. Freeze portions before you go so they will last a few days in a cooler.
  2. I got one of these little crockpots. They don't cook your food but they warm it up. It seems like a great solution to messy work microwaves or eating in a hotel. You can leave the outside part at work and take the inner container back and forth. Tried it today. Filled it about half full with a chicken rice soup. It heated it very hot in 2 hours. I...
  3. When I travel, I always pack my food and get a hotel with a kitchen. My family might get sandwiches and I just go in and get iced tea and eat my stuff. Sometimes we go to Wendy's and I get a Frosty and don't feel left out at all. I make sure I have something I really like, like Fritos, in case I feel left out. Often we just pack picnic stuff. I will...
  4. Sounds like your doctors don't know much about Celiac. Look up " celiac centers" and see what the experts say. They will all tell you that no gluten, even the small amount that sticks to a burger or is in the soy sauce the chicken is marinated in, is safe. Here's one to get you started. 5. Perhaps if you showed them some info from " real" medical centers about Celiac? Google "Celiac centers" . The Univ of Chicago has a lot of easy to read info on its site, but there are others - Mayo, Columbia, Maryland, etc. maybe when they see that, they will realize it is a real disease.
  6. First rule of Psillie Thread ---- put down the drink before reading! Legal disclaimer: Celiac dot com is not responsible for any computer, office furniture or other damages caused by the exhalation of beverages or food products ( gluten-free or otherwise) when reading the Psillie Thread.
  7. My yoga teacher would say " Respect your body. If it wants to run, run as far as you can without overdoing it". I think that is the general rule. Do what you can and sometimes push yourself a little. Now I have got to know - Running to work? Do you have a place to shower? Do you carry make- up, work clothes, shampoo, etc in a back pack? Are you...
  8. We actually like the corn better. But when stomachs have been sick, Rice Chex is the first food choice of my gluten eaters. Aren't you done with school? When are you going home? My hub flew to Denver this morning and J picked him up & they are in Avon/ Beaver Creek to ski a few days before driving back.
  9. You have to catch them on the Internet and then turn them loose here.
  10. Cute but itchy lace and uncomfortable nighties.
  11. I always kid that I will get my hub clothes in my size or a emerald necklace. Then I will borrow it!
  12. Such a horrible day! I'm so sorry Colleen
  13. Fishing pole for the wife that doesn't like to fish
  14. Dermatitis Herpetiformis - the skin condition associated with Celiac. Not everyone has it. There is a section on this forum about it.
  15. I agree. I think the smileys can help show that you are making a joke or are confused but not trying to be angry. (on my PC)
  16. I blame it on the mental health reform of the 70's (?). You used to be able to lock up your adult relatives with severe mental issues so they could get help. Now it is extremely hard to do that until they have done something really bad. But anyway...this is suposed to be the place to take our minds off the troubles of the world (at least mostly). Saw...
  17. My OB/GYN does check for this. That was who suggested it to me based on my iron, D, etc levels. They look for it with thier infertile ladies.
  18. It is horrible. It makes no sense at all.
  19. On No! Sending some postive thoughts your way. Keep us posted if you feel up to it?
  20. I can't get them on the mobile site. Not sure if its just me or if that is true for everyone. I have smileys off another site and copied them. Open Original Shared Link
  21. I have a friend like that. He calls himself a "Professional Student". Also knew a guy working on his 4th PHD. He got them in things that don't translate to jobs like carribean history. It was his hobby.
  22. Get an actual copy of the pathology report and procedure report. Did you have Celiac blood work? Get a copy of that, too. Unfortunately, sometimes we have to read these things ourselves as some doctors have no idea about Celiac. You could post it here if you want
  23. Paul .....you are the older (much older) brother I never had! I think Butterfly wanted email because she is flitting about the globe! Thansk NC Dave! I got a nice card from him already!
  24. Health laws often prohibit outside food. I have just brought something small and sat at one side to eat it. Trying not to make a big deal out of it. Or I eat ahead or I don't go. It depends on the situation.
