  1. Open Original Shared Link This is some basic info about food allergies. You will see that food allergy testing isn't completely accurate as they recommend more than just a skin prick or an IgE test to confirm an allergy. You will notice that Enterolab is not mentioned as it has never done the steps necessary to be recognized by the medical community...
  2. Sorry their was no Chickie resurrection. But love the name Re-Peep! Hope he/ she does OK.
  3. I used to get upset by the adults here that cheated. I used to feel I should try very hard to keep them from all the problems that can happen to a Celiac who doesn't eat gluten-free - infertility, other autoimmune diseases, anemia and all the problems that causes, osteoporosis, on and on. I have decided that they are adults & they can choose to take...
  4. You have to be careful with these lists, you can't tell how old it is. Ingredients change. The lists can't possibly have every food in the store so don't limit yourself to them. Not sure if this person really knows what is gluten-free and what isn't. Check what country these lists are for, too. Sometimes ingredients are different in different countries...
  5. This will be a skewed poll because of the population that frequent this forum. A large percentage are newly diagnosed or in the process of being diagnosed. Another large segment are people with continuing issues, trying to figure out what is going on. Only a few of us are " healthy" and " settled into the gluten-free lifestyle". Those " healthy" ones...
  6. It will be listed as an ingredient and is not in Barq's or most US ones last I looked
  7. If it smelled like nothing, it was fine. If the cookies taste good, any germs were cooked out. Those cookies are good with almond or sunflower butter
  8. If its always been in your house and you have AC so it's not 90+ all summer, I would open it. Give it a sniff. If it has bean flours, it might smell slightly " sour". If it smells really bad, then it's bad. do you have pb and sugar? Try these. If you only have white sugar, you can just use white. Open Original Shared Link
  9. This is the one I am following. It seems pretty standard. It isn't spicy. It tastes good. I think the choices of dried peppers I had at the grocery were too mild. Next time we are near the Mexican market, we can get better peppers and try again. Or maybe a mix of peppers next time. http://whatscookingamerica.net/CynthiaPineda/CarneAdovada.htm
  10. The ones that really make me mad are the parents who take their kids off the gluten-free diet or let them cheat. Especially the parents who have read all the info and know there is no cure but feed them gluten still!
  11. Not sure where you got this figure? I haven't seen any reputable research to suggest this.
  12. And you could have some tomato salsa to pass for those who like it! But it sounds yummy to me. Not sure how strictly you are not eating tomatoes, I like Pacific Spicy Black Bean Soup ( not spicy really) for enchilada sauce. It does have some tomato paste in it.
  13. Forgot to add- black beans cooking in the other crockpot with onions, garlic & bacon. Margaritas, please! Everything but the kitchen sink nachos at our house - J made them at Thanksgiving - smoked turkey, moz, cheddar, bacon & salsa
  14. Just to let you know, this thread is 5 years old. These posters are probably not active any longer.
  15. Carne Adovado that had been marinating in my fridge for 1 1/2 days and will now cook for 12 hours. Probably some hot water cornbread and rice with tomatoes cooked in it. Or maybe corn spoonbread? Haven't decided yet whether I want to fry (HW cornbread) or bake (spponbread).
  16. On top of what Peter and Takala said - MSG does not contain gluten nor does soy.
  17. I got this for Xmas http://www.cafepress.com/+glutenfree_apron_gluten_bites,555156733
  18. Share some info from the " experts" - other doctors so they will take it seriously. for example: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link "Can a skin biopsy for dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) confirm celiac disease or is an endoscopy still needed? A skin biopsy should be done on a non-affected portion of the skin near the rash when...
  19. Gluten free would make the results lower. So if these are your results from a few days gluten-free, think how high they might have been on a full gluten diet!
  20. Sorry about the chickies. Sorry about your back, too. Sounds like everyone should have just stayed in their snug beds where they belong. I know people who have brought back frozen kittens, so it could work for chicks?
  21. Has she had her antibody levels checked every year? If they are normal, she may be doing Ok with the gluten part. For Valentines Day, get her a red colander and a red cutting board ( target and Walmart has had these). Tell her hub that red is for gluten-free stuff only - which is most everything except gluten pasta and bread! You can get red toasters...
  22. I see you added the ranges. Looks positive. Others who know more about the test will probably chime in. Whether you have an endoscopy is up to you. I had one and a colonoscopy at the same time. Here's why: we were really checking for anything else that might be going on with the Celiac - ulcers, colitis, polyps etc and how advanced the Celiac is.
  23. Because every lab uses a different " scale", could you post the reference ranges from the lab sheet. Something like: ABC 12. (0-6 neg, 7-9 weak positive, >p high)
  24. Just to add to Shroomie's info - the endoscopy ( upper end) can be done at the same time as the colonoscopy ( lower end). I would think he might like to do that just to make sure you don't have anything like an ulcer & he could biopsy for Celiac, too!
  25. Dh - Darling husband ( when we aren't talking about a nasty, itchy, ugly rash).
