  1. I know its frustrating. Most people are trying to be helpful. You might find out about a product or a restaraunt you didn't know about. I usually just smile and say "Thanks" or "I love that product". If they try to give me medical advice that's really wrong, I will correct them. Like all the older ladies that "have Celiac" and tell my mom its OK to...
  2. You cannot acuse companies of blatantly ignoring FDA laws. This is from thier website. It says they clean between products. What SEEDS OF CHANGE® Products are gluten-free? All SEEDS OF CHANGE® Pasta Sauces, Simmer Sauces and Salad Dressings do not have ingredients containing gluten. Some of our Rice & Grain side dishes and Ready-To-Heat Rice do n...

  6. I would have., and you still could, go with the "I don't want someone to pay for food I can't eat.". Tell the hostess, ""don't worry. I'll just have a drink. Don't pay for my food. Food allergies, you know?" Then come, but eat first. Have an iced tea or wine if they are having that.
  7. FYI. This poster hasn't been on since March. This thread was a year ago. She may not answer you and has hopefully sorted this out.

  9. How maddening! Sometimes raw fruits and veggies are hard to digest. Maybe try Cream of Buckwheat, applesauce, plain chicken broth, baked sweet potato or butternut squash. Those are supposed to be easy to digest. No cinnamon in the applesauce or butter on the potato. Just plain, maybe salt. Just for a few days. There is also cream of rice cereal...

  11. First, it does take a few months to lose the old habits, like licking a PB knife after making a gluteny PB sandwich for someone. I give my dog Rice Chex for treats. they make good training treats. Low calorie & dogs love them. We dog sit several dogs & they all get excited when I get out the Rice Chex.

  15. Put it under allergy. Then write out wheat, rye, barley, oats. Wheat & barley are probably the only things that might be a concern. Then, don't assume that they get that that applies to dental stuff they put in your mouth. Call the dentist and ask if they have checked for gluten. My dentist had checked and had copies of letters from companies. ...

  17. This makes a great crust for pumpkin pie. Probably good for apple, too. 2 cups gluten-free gingersnap cookies 2 TBLsp sugar 1/3 cup butter or margarine, diced small 1 Tblsp rice flour (I just used Pamelas) Put the cookies, flour & sugar in a food processor (I used my blender) and pulse until you get fine crumbs. Add butter and pulse until crumbs...

    ARCHIVED I Did It!

With lamb on the menu, this sounds like a nice place. Many more expensive places do know what gluten free is. Sounds like you should have told the waitress why you were asking. They may have been able to make you many things if the chef knew what was going on.
  19. Everyone! Please note: This site allows you to recommend other websites, products and restaurants as long as you don't own them. For example, I recommended the crockpot lady website. That's OK, it's not my business or website. If I recommend the Karen G's Fabulous Gluten Free Diner and Dog Wash or my personal blog www.KarenGknowsitall, that would...
