  1. That's pretty funny! And a bit sad, if you payed someone for that advice! I have some pills that will cure any food intolerance. Don't be worried that they look and taste like Skittles!
  2. Its usally corn starch added to shredded cheese. If they added flour, they would need to label it. Think about flour. Flour sticks together when wet or damp (like cheese). Its one of the properties of wheat flour that is hard to duplicate in gluten-free bread
  3. They make jello with less water to make Jello Jigglers. they are firmer. Baking soda & vinegar foam up nice. Would stink nicely, too.
  4. If her list says; Sat Football game - pack sandwich, fruit snacks, etc. Does she eat nuts? I always keep an emergency pack with me. Maybe she could have a small baggie in her backpack labelled "for emergency only". Dad could have one in his pack, too. Maybe sit down with him and say that you want them to have fun so that is why you just want...
  5. If you really thought she was in danger, you wouldn't let her go. Maybe remind him of the specifics of how sick she gets. The gruesome details - uncontrollable diarhea, sad & cries, whatever. If she has bad D, she can't come home on a plane. Plus, give her the same list, too. Maybe if one forgets something the other will remember. Also...
  6. Just looked at it on Walmart. Not sure why this subject intrigued me. It was only $20. Looks like you could use Jello or watered down jello (Sprite is yummy). I would try it if my kid wanted it. Actually... if a 15 or 18 yr old wanted it, I'ld probably have to get them therapy!
  7. My kids are too old, so I went looking on line. I kept finding old ones from A.com. They think they are a collectors item? Not sure what a new one costs, they wanted $45. IF thats a lot cheaper, you could get the molds and equipment and throw out the mixes. Might be able to find some molds (for candy or ice cubes) of bugs & brains left from Halloween...
  8. I know its not the most mature or productive thing but - I would probably be glad he was experiecning it, too.

    ARCHIVED Red Robin

Thanks! I'll give them a few weeks, then stop by when they aren't busy & check! Funny...I have always preferred my burger with no bun. But the additional training is good to know.
  10. Here's the I can't cook version. Just remember, if you make this either way, you can make extras. Boneless chicken, boil in Kitchen Basics chicken broth with little pieces of carrots ( thickly shredded will cook the best & you can sometimes get a bag of shredded) & onion ( can get Ore Ida frozen chopped). Boil until chicken is cooked. Take chicken...
  11. I think Wiki is a good place to get some starting info. Then you can validate it. Or it gives you an idea of where else to look for info.
  12. Uncooked green veggies like spinach & kale can be hard to digest. Maybe you could make a little chicken, carrot & rice soup? Cook up a sweet potato or regular potato? Bake an apple or cut a peeled one up and cook in a pan with a little water to make applesauce? Cream of Buckwheat cereal is nice & mild. Might want to skip the ketchup as vinegar...
  13. I will say Heidi, that I find some of your posts very hard to read. Our English doesn't need to be perfect here, but some punctuation, capitalization, paragraphs and full sentances make it easier to get a point across. Also, better grammer gives you more credibility.
  14. If it's not open give it to the food pantry!
  15. Its a protein in milk. Some people try to avoid all parts of milk. If you are just avoiding the lactose (which is hard to digest for many people) you could just be eating cheddar. Less odd additives.
  16. Nothing more natural than a gluten free diet if you have Celiac. No need for medications.
  17. Not necessarily. This office sounds like they are treating you like they would someone who goes in every 2 years for the over 50 colonoscopy (routine). Some offices might consider you a sick patient appointment and get you in sooner.
  18. For most of us on here, any gluten is bad. This is a Celiac website. This type of wheat may not have as much gluten as modern wheat, but for people with Celiac - wheat is wheat. You are just trying to eat gluten light so maybe that product would be right for you.
  19. Please supply your source for gluten being stored in fat. I have not seen any scientific evidence that it is even possible for gluten to be stored in fat.
  20. Any chance you can get her out? She doesn't respect your illness. I can't imagine having a new baby & 2 little ones & a hub that isn't helpful (actually tries not to be). That would be hard enough. Add his mother who feels the same way he does & that is impossible for you to live there. Try hiding your toaster. Keep the gluten one on...
  21. Reeses PB cups, M&Ms, York Peppermint patties, Skittles.......
  22. If you do most of the grocery shopping, you won't have gluten in the house. But you will need to be sure you don't completely leave the gluten eaters with nothing. If they always eat Wheat Thins, get some Crunchmasters. That sort of thing. You could also have some more healthy things ready to grab & eat. Cut carrot sticks & celery and Ranch dip...
  23. For 1 person, its not worth it to me to make my own bread. Plus I barely eat it anyway. But if you are trying to make sandwiches or toast, several days a week for 4 or 5 people, it might be worth it. Use the site Google at the top right of the screen. We have had soooo many recipes for bread & bread machine recipes and reviews. Might give you some...
