  1. You might write the manufacturer. Maybe they would let a chemist explain it. I think the corn is mixed with other chemicals to make the "plastic" carpet. There probably wouldn't be dust. Usually what you hear about new carpet is the fumes. Chemicals sort of evaporating out. I wish the neighbor's son was home, he's getting a doctorate in chemical engineering...
  2. Buying local cuts down on the travel time of any fresh food. The less travel time, for many things, the more nutrients and less time for bad bacteria to grow on it. Here in KC, most of our grocery meat, eggs & dairy seems to come from a few hours away.
  3. I prefer to think of it as " fact checking".
  4. If you take the wy out of his name, you get KORN! Coincidence?
  5. I don't believe any of you people are actually making all these yummy things! I am thinking about coming round to your homes to check on the quality of the food! Will require good planning so I don't have to back track.
  6. Tea will say if it has barley, malt, barley grass, wheat grass, etc in it. It's part of what makes the flavor so " special". But that tea sounds nice.
  7. Maybe we should cut the corny jokes and cobble together an answer. I would give it a try. Unless you have a skin reaction to touching corn. You could rub it on the inside of your wrist. If it makes you itch, it's likely not the corn but the chemical binders.
  8. We're having a trash " big item pick-up" this weekend!
  9. I think Jess suggested taking some samples home with you. Then you can roll around in the privacy of your own home. In your underware so that you can get maximum skin contact with the potentially offending carpet.
  10. Did they say Celiac? Is it your stomach or your small intestine? Probaly your intestine, I don't think much of anything is absorbed from the stomach into your blood stream. You may have more issues with this doc than him trying to sell you products. I'm wondering about the diagnosis and what he did to get it.
  11. Monika, What is your diagnosis? How were you diagnosed? I can't remmeber if you said before. I have a hard enough time keeping track of myself!
  12. What's in it? Sounds like one of those things where the doc makes $125 on as profit. Just curious - what type of doc is pushing products?
  13. Ooooo! A whole cup of honey? I use 1/2 cup white & 1/2 brown sugar and a little vanillas & the choco chips.
  14. Add some chocolate chips!
  15. I feel bad for his 14 year old mentally disabled boy ( if there really is one). This guy couldn't have been taking proper care of him. Just a warning to all you who don't know yet, I do get a bit rabid about people hurting kids.
  16. Maybe your kids need babysitting? Too young to leave alone? You really expect us to believe you spent hours weedwacking the lawn?
  17. Shroomie, dear.... Are you seeing things?
  18. Sounds like it's your mom & her husbands house. You & your sis are grownups living there. Sounds like they are also buying all the food. Might be up to your mom to set some rules in her home. If someone doesn't want to follow them, then someone can go elsewhere & support themselves. Might talk to mom about what is and isn't acceptable in...
  19. Don't forget the foil industry!
  20. That sounds lucky for you! Maybe for you it will be more a cumulative effect. If you have a bit today and a bit tommorow, then maybe it will be enough to get you. Maybe you just got lucky and it slid thru when your immune system was busy with something else. Who knows?
  21. Oh no! Is blathering another symptom of Celiac? I try not to say much. Just not eat at the gatherings. Was at a sports banquet yesterday. Just didn't eat. The one dad who knew about my problem, just said " Oh right". When I said I wasn't eating. Helps that his ex has to have a special diet so he gets it. Everyone else didn't say a thing. Most...

    ARCHIVED Grr...

My parents are early 80s. They really never learned much about how a body works. You had a baby, they put you to sleep. When I was in college taking anatomy & physiology, they would look at my pictures of insides and be surprised by where things were located, shape, etc. When I had my kids, M was breach. We joked that it was so obvious where...
  23. You don't outgrow Celiac. Probably depends on how the child was diagnosed. Maybe it wasn't Celiac. If there were positive antibodies, it likely was Celiac. If it was a " don't eat it & see if you feel better" approach, then maybe they can now digest gluten. I know a couple of people diagnosed many years ago ( 40-50). They seem to have outgrown...
