  1. Good for you Jason. Very brave. I would have sat there & not had anything. I haven't gotten up the nerve to try the safe places yet like PF Changs or this one thats all gluten-free except for the pita bread. Sorry the co-workers aren't too sympathetic. Gluten is clogging thier minds.
  2. Bode ? Shawn? My hub would be there but he must go to the robotics competition - we are mentors. Karen says Good Morning. Karen will be at First robotics competition Thur , Fri & Sat.
  3. 8pm & about 30 degrees F & I just dropped M (14) at soccer practice. Also, 17 yr old is to be the netminder for his lacrosse team - never played before but is the only one who doesn't mind small projectiles thrown at him. Finds the bruises interesting.
  4. I thought I had seen a list that had most Starbucks drinks as OK. Went to the website & couldn't find it so I emailed. Was very specific about "wheat, rye, barley(malt)". I'll let you know what I get back. I like Starbucks but rarely drink anything that isn't just coffee & milk.
  5. Bleach won't "kill" the gluten piece but it will be clean. Bleach is good to clean with. I have found, from my days of glutinous baking, that white vinegar disolves flour well. You can squirt it into cracks & let it sit, then rinse & repeat. Good luck with your new home.
  6. Just emailed them & told them we are all waiting for the answer. My 17 year old son keeps eating there with a friend - says he doing research to see if its safe for me.
  7. Here in KC, we have an bakery Olivias Oven. I know they sell in Hyvees. They make the best donut holes. Look them up & it tells you the days they deliver so you can get it fresh.
  8. We will miss the Olympics, too. Loved calling the Goal Keeper, "netminder". Going to ask biggest son if he's ever been called that in soccer or now Lacrosse. Dinner with the FIL went well. BIL had to cook gluten-free in college for a housemate. MY steak was left wrapped up & grilled away from other steaks & brought in on its on plate. I am...
  9. We are still learning. My boys are 17 & 14 & stay out of moms stuff without permission. I make some of their stuff thats not gluten-free, like sandwiches. I am watching closely if its something I want to eat - like lunch meat & nag about clean fingers or pouring chips out of bags. I have red duct tape that I put on jam, etc. I also, go behind...
  10. Should knot tiep until I've had coughfee. How do I find you on da-book? I have been able to find me own book account several times now. That's a step in the rite direction.
  11. Hey hon! Take the wee beasties out for a wild amusement park ride. Seriously, people have been very nice to me so far when I tell them about celiac disease. They feel bad when they start thinking about how hard it is & I only have the one food issue (Knock on wood). I'm going on a ski trip soon & am just packing stuff for the lunches. Got a doctors...
  12. Also, they make light purple scrubby pads. Living in a family of boys, they use blue & I use purple.
  13. I did buy new pots for anything I can eat. Wanted to get red ones so they would look different but didn't like the quality of the red ones I found. Did get red spatulas, spoons, cutting board & even plastic containers with red tops. I use red Duck tape on my jam, etc. This helps because my kids are teens & sometimes fix food. Also, talking (nagging...
  14. Ok. I think I now have a facebook account. I wrote down the password. What happens next? Is there a sadistic initiation rite? Must I get a tatoo? Wear a weird orange toga - wait I think that's the Hari Krishnas.
  15. I tried 3 months ago in a brain fog to make a facebook account. I put the wrong email & promptly forgot the password. Teens were so disgusted with me, they said I should not be on facebook. Might cause the site to collapse. Also, not sure I want people from my "sordid" past to find me. Perhaps, if I spelled my name that way...Maybe I will try again...
  16. After 2 weeks gluten-free & 2 months on massive doses of iron, my husband out of the blue said "you look great!" I was wearing old jeans & a sweatshirt. He said I just look more "sparkly", more energetic. I do feel more energetic until about 7 pm & then I fall flat. May never become a late night, club hopping, partyer. Sigh!
  17. You Biscuit eating Bulldog! This may become my whole family's favorite thing to call someone. Might use it & "fructify" Sunday night with FIL. Not sure me boys will think being called "a bulldog" is an insult. We love all dogs. Where is everyone? Got hot dates? Hub & Boy Scout (14yr) are camping, 17 yr old is eating greasy junk ...
  18. OMG! I'm laughing so hard it hurts! That was my original strategy.
  19. Who is this Taylor? And will he or she make a word for my FIL?
  20. Maybe when he wants to give me advice, I'll have the margarita.
  21. I need some funny things to say to my FIL on Sunday night. He's a doozy. In town for a couple of days & BIL is having us all over for dinner. Told Bro about Celiac & knows a little & will try hard. I'll bring food, too. FIL is retired dentist who knows everything about anything medical. He will "know" all about Celiacs, too. Probably the...
  22. If you can eat any of these things, they are good instead of salad dressing - lemon or lime juice, salsa, cut up an orange into little bits so you get some in every bite, yogurt, anything juicy.
  23. Pound cake is very cumbly. I'm sure you got some crumbs from the chocolate. When we do chocolate dipping, we use a spoon to put some on a plate or bowl for each person.
  24. Patti - Happy Burfday, youse all! I speak Ozarkian Hillbilly.
  25. Where is everyone? I'm trying to find an excuse to avoid housework!
