  1. Why not? I get it sometimes.
  2. So the rest of you have been tested for Celiac and are negative?
  3. What are the ingredients? I haven't found a sour cream with gluten(I am in the US). I doubt it will have wheat or barley in it.
  4. The penicillin not working is just because the bacteria that is causing an infection isn't killed by that particular antibiotic. That should have nothing to do with Celiac. When your gut has healed from Celiac, you should be absorbing medications better. Maybe this is just a really painful and nasty infection?
  5. Sure. Peanuts were just an example that most people recognize. But if a kid in the class had a bad egg or banana or any other food allergy - it's easier to keep them away from the whole group, if the place is feeding them. But I still think I would send thier lunch or find other arrangements. Too scary for me.
  6. I think it is actually easier for the day care to serve meals they make than have to help a bunch of 3 year olds open all the packets and containers in individual sack lunches. Harder to keep track of other, more lethal allergens, like peanuts. So I doubt they would want to make buying lunch an option at this age. Fair or not, I wouldn't let them feed...
  7. Not sure how it knows to only kill the bad bacteria? Probably messing with the good bacteria, too. That is assuming it really works. Probably just makes you feel bad so you think its working?
  8. I think it is usually corn? But I have seen, a couple of times, where it says food starch (wheat) or modified wheat starch. It can be gluten free. I know at least some wheat starch tests gluten-free. Like I said before - I am all about making my life easier - so I just avoid anything that says "wheat" even if its the part of wheat that does not contain...
  9. Looks like it worked? I got 2 reputation points on the dr in PA thread
  10. Ditto! I don't worry about those ingredients. Almost never made from wheat, anyway. I would avoid them if they say the product contains wheat, but that probably isn't necessary. It just makes my life easier when I don't have to analyze or think. Yep. easier not to have to think.
  11. Are you sending records yourself? You might want to make sure the "best" stuff is right on top and highlight the pages. But, most medical doctors will not find any of Dr Fine's tests to be valid, so I wouldn't put those first.
  12. This is a great idea. I don't know why I didn't think of it. YOu might even be able to have a phone consult with the doctor first.
  13. I think on one of your posts, on another thread, you said you had the rare intestinal lymphoma that Celiac can cause? And you have a bunch of other diseases - a couple that being gluten-free is considered more than just helpful.
  14. I don't think there is actual science for the opiate theory. Sometimes, when a person goes gluten-free, they change their diet radically and that can be an issue. Maybe more fat, less fat, more protein, less fiber, etc. So that, along with healing, you won't feel fabulous right away.
  15. If you have Celiac Disease - you have to stop eating gluten! Going on and off will not be helpful to your healing. If you are going gluten-free for some other reason....??? For those with Celiac, the damage isn't " cured" in a few weeks.
  16. There is no currently acceptable science to that theory. In fact, the company that originally tried to push the coffee one, admitted that the coffee they tested with was an instant coffee that contained gluten. I usually try to find actual scientific/ medical sources for my medical advice. " There is not yet reliable data about cross-reactivity....
  17. Sorry? You don't have to justify not using the doc I mentioned. Maybe it will help someone in the future who is looking for a GI. I can't really help you with all the other problems. I hope you find some help for your little boy.
  18. I don't know what is closer to you. but the children's hospital in Philadelphia has a Celiac center. I have seen them at International Celiac Disease Symposiums and... if I remember correctly, the head doc's daughter has Celiac. Maybe he is going where his insurance will pay?
  19. I don't understand? Looks like her total IGa is in the normal range? Its 215? Her TTG is less than 1. And even if the total IGA had been lower than the range, the range is not for Celiac. It needs to be less than 20 to be an issue for a Celiac ttg IGA test. Edit to add Open Original Shared Link
  20. Another thought - if you are currently eating gluten free - this treasure hunt might be a dud.
  21. Why do the doctors say you need any further procedures? Usually an endoscopy with positive biopsies and a positive blood test are all that is needed to diagnose Celiac. Keep in mind that usually, Celiac damage is at such a small level that a camera won't show it. What else are they looking for? Edit - such re- read and saw that your biopsies...
  22. I wonder if all the results are not posted? Ask the GI why he says a negative test means Celiac? What did he recommend as your next step? Don't be afraid to ask questions. Its your body and health!
  23. I don't think the ice cream actually has gluten in it. It appears the problem is that the mixer may have crumbs on it from cookie dough or cookies that are mixed into some shakes. This is a common problem with milk shakes where they add in ingredients besides ice cream, milk, and syrup.
  24. I have no clue. Gremlins? Gluten in the system?
  25. Consult a malpractice attorney?
