  1. Welcome, Abby! It would be very rare, if at all, to get a false positive on your celiac panel. False negatives are quite common. If the biopsies were taken in the wrong place, it's entirely possible to have them come up false, especially as damage is sometimes patchy. So consider yourself celiac and make yourself at home here. I did replace a lot of...
  2. You could use the google button on the top right corner of your screen and do a search for cheap meals, budget meals, etc. We've actually had quite a few discussions on this topic and hopefully you'll come up with lots of ideas.
  3. I see no reason not to use nail polish remover.
  4. Please note that you are replying to an old topic. The OP hasn't been on the forum since 2008 and hopefully has found a good brownie recipe by now.
  5. We won't tar and feather you...but I'm sure there's a bit of envy here including me. My first thought was a two-piece where you can order one size bottom and the other for a top...and then maybe buy a cover-up if you're uncomfortable. Have you called Lands' End and asked to speak with a personal shopper (or whatever they're called)? I've found them...
  6. The problem is that there are no tests sensitive enough that can test to zero ppm...if that's what you mean. But that holds true for other processed foods, too, not just oats.
  7. I can't imagine myself spending good money on a gluten-free cooking school...so many recipes just need a substitution or two and for baked goods there are many gluten-free blogs and recipe sites. But then I've been cooking *forever*. I did invest in a few gluten-free cookbooks (mainly for baking and especially bread, which has been elusive for many of us...
  8. I seem to do okay with oats. I buy gluten-free BRM. I think I was gluten-free for 9 months before I tried it. I have it occasionally, not every day, but it used to be my favorite breakfast. I think the only way you'll find out is to try it.
  9. Thanks, I do, too! My biopsy report said I had villous atrophy but it didn't define it according to the Marsh scale, which I've seen referred to on here. So I really don't know.
  10. Here in the U.S. at least, I think many most sausages (including hot dogs) and deli meats are gluten-free. Personally I avoid the deli because of CC issues and prefer to buy already packaged cold cuts. And I don't buy marinated fresh meats. If I want to marinate something, I can easily do it myself.
  11. Knowing what I know now, I would have asked to be retested at 6 months and a year. For me I think I was 9 months or so into the diet before I was retested. While my EMA was positive at diagnosis, it was negative when retested. My tTG had gone from >100 to 10, which according to Quest was still positive (>8 is positive). Since I was compliant...
  12. I agree with Prickly...have your daughter go gluten-free now but keep loading up Hubs until he's had his scope. The biopsies have to be sent to the lab and examined by a pathologist under a microscope. I think mine took a week or so to get the results.
  13. Welcome to the forum! Different labs use difference reference ranges. My celiac panel was done by Quest and my tTG was >100 with positive being >8. So how far over 100 that was is an unknown. 398? 500? 1,000? No clue.
  14. Can you be put on a cancellation list to see if you can get in sooner?
  15. That bread may be yeast-free but it contains 4 cups of whole wheat flour...not exactly recommended for celiacs.
  16. That's really a very typical response from a drug company and just because they can't guarantee that a drug is gluten-free, it doesn't necessarily mean it contains gluten. Zofran is on the Open Original Shared Link list as being gluten-free. This list is maintained by a pharmacist and is updated frequently. I've used this list several times and find...
  17. Uh huh! Very little sympathy from most of us! But it would suck to have so many intolerances. When I was in Wally World today, I glanced at several cans of Progresso soup that are gluten-free. Soy is a bummer though. They used to have a list of gluten-free products but I haven't looked for it lately and I know Gluten Freely has changed their website...
  18. ...or is it possible you've developed additional sensitivities or intolerances? Or in your case I think CC might be a real possibility if you're babysitting small children and have a roommate who's not gluten-free. I'm beginning to suspect I'm reacting to xanthan gum. It's just so hard to pin it down to something specific.
  19. Actually there are several Progresso soups that are gluten-free and they are marked gluten-free on the back of the can. The Vegetable Classics line also has a mushroom soup that's gluten-free. I know there are others...it's just that I don't buy much canned soup. In the Traditional line I just happen to have a can of Chicken Rice with Vegetables. Since...
  20. Welcome, Nonna! Since you are scheduled for an endoscopy in early July, you need to keep eating gluten until that is done so while you may want to educate yourself, don't go gluten-free just yet or you're liable to have negative results even though you may indeed have celiac. I actually went gluten-free the day of my endoscopy as it was clear to me that...
  21. Welcome, Amy! There is no test out there that can measure zero gluten. I do use and trust Hormel as do many others on this forum. Maybe you just can't tolerate this product for one reason or another so in that case, it's better to just avoid it. Our bodies can be pretty wonky at times and we can react to most anything and everything.
  22. Well, it certainly doesn't sound normal to me nor have I ever experienced it in the two years I've been gluten-free. Did you prepare these and eat them at home or at a restaurant? I'm thinking the possibility of CC. How do you normally handle fats? Do you think too much fat is a problem for you (thinking gall bladder problem perhaps???)
  23. I use Colgate toothpaste and have no problem with it. It's the least of my concerns.
  24. Tonight I've having BBQ pork using Sweet Baby Ray's Sweet & Spicy BBQ sauce (I threw a small sirloin pork roast in the oven last night with my meatloaf), leftover mashed potatoes and fresh green beans.
  25. I really don't use a recipe for meatloaf...it's one of those things I've probably made hundreds of times so I don't measure anything. Irish Heart may have one as she's a gourmet cook...and I just want to eat. Unless you have a special meatloaf recipe, the only thing I needed to do for mine is use gluten-free bread crumbs instead of using regular gluteny...
