  1. YES! It sucks, doesn't it!!!
  2. Well that's a pain in the butt just to get your hands on a piece of paper or three. Could you have someone at your GI's office help you complete the paperwork to make sure you get what you need?
  3. So much for wanting to lose weight! Well, there's always next year!
  4. I've never had a problem picking up copies of any tests or lab work I've had done so I hope you won't either. Since everything is computerized, all they do is print out copies for me, which I have to sign for. That includes blood work, too. I keep all of it in a file folder for future reference. When I had my endoscopy, my GI was not visually able to...
  5. So what recipe did you finally use, Ken? Inquiring minds need to know.
  6. ...and you just told us your pants don't fit?
  7. You've definitely had too many cups of tea! BTW, King Arthur Flour has some really good gluten-free baking mixes, too. Plus gluten-free recipes.
  8. Yes, dinner, Irish! Haagen-Dazs Vanilla Ice Cream. The end. Edit: No heat, just ice...as in cream.
  9. Yum! When are you making this again, Nick, so we can all be there? If you like chocolate, you might like this Open Original Shared Link
  10. Welcome, Molly! Have you checked the gluten-free recipes section? You'll find that we eat very well!
  11. Glad you found it...it's an excellent book. Yes, other family members should also be tested. It's amazing how many symptoms can be attributed to gluten. Check out Open Original Shared Link. First time I saw it, it blew my mind.
  12. Welcome to the forum L! You're in luck...there is an excellent book entitled Living Gluten-Free for Dummies written by Danna Korn. Jules Shepard also has a good one: The First Year: Celiac Disease and Living Gluten-Free Sorry, I can't be of any help either on dealing with your other children. Mine are grown with children of their own. But there...
  13. Congrats on your graduation, Victoria! I think teens can be so insensitive at times...actually downright cruel at other times. I have two teenage granddaughters even though they are younger than you but I've already heard a few stories. I guess there are insensitive people of all ages. But I definitely think it'll be easier when you get a bit...

    ARCHIVED Help!

Popcorn should be safe but check ingredients for the flavored varieties. I've always bought Orville Redenbacher's plain popcorn in a jar and popped it in my Presto PowerPop microwave popcorn maker (around $15 or so at Wal-Mart), used olive oil on it and salt. I find microwave popcorn packets to be way too salty for my taste. ...
  15. Personally I'll settle for Haagen-Dazs vanilla any day! It contains exactly 5 ingredients and no gums whatsoever. It is so dense and creamy, not airy and fluffy like some ice creams. Thankfully I don't buy it often.
  16. I wouldn't worry about it...people can react to most anything and everything, especially if they're newly diagnosed. I have no problem with either coffee or peanut butter.
  17. It will definitely be an adjustment but we can make some amazing gluten-free goodies so your daughter will not be missing out on good foods, even pasta. Have you taken a look around the recipe section? I think I eat better now than before I went gluten-free. How were your gluten-free brownies?
  18. If the doctor could visually see "mild blunting", well, I'd say she has it. Usually damage isn't even visible until it's viewed under a microscope by a pathologist. If damage is patchy, the biopsies may have been taken in areas that aren't yet damaged. Be sure to pick up a copy of the actual pathology report.
  19. I'm assuming you have a follow-up appointment with the doctor to go over the results. At that time also pick up an actual copy of the test results and go from there. I'm surprised the nurse told you anything...the most I ever get is that they can't tell me anything as the doctor hasn't seen the results yet.
  20. Bartfull,, your story is an inspiration to all of us! I wish you continued good health...you've come a long way in the past year and hopefully will continue on that path!
  21. I can't imagine cooking chicken breast halves for 2 hours total and not having them come out dry. The cooking time is just too long...what oven temperature do you use?
  22. I use Maybelline Great Lash Mascara and have various eye liners (I picked up a Wet & Wild eye liner on a whim recently). I'm using a Revlon foundation, Cover Girl powder...no special products that I can't pick up at a local drug store or Wal-Mart. In the past six months I picked up a Garnier moisturizer I like a lot and would like to try their shampoo...
  23. I agree with Raven. Symptoms are as varied as individuals themselves. Personally I have not experienced your symptoms but that doesn't mean much of anything. Nor did I experience withdrawal symptoms, brain fog or ataxia, all of which others may have experienced. You might want to use the google button on the top right of your screen and do a search...
  24. I think Wal-Mart has added a lot of CYA statements to their products...things they used to have marked gluten-free. So yes, we do become very familiar with reading labels every time.
