  1. I found Hershey's Cinnamon Chips today at my local Wal-Mart. They were in a special large holiday food ingredients section, not in the aisle where I'd normally find chocolate chips and other baking supplies.
  2. A lot of people find they have various problems with different types of food. If chicken makes you sick, don't eat it.
  3. OK...you scared me there for a minute about the spelt and kamut. Sorry, I don't have any info on quail eggs but hopefully someone will chime in on those.
  4. I really don't know what to suggest but I would first try whole flax seed or other whole grains. But I can't imagine cooking it. If you post your recipe, perhaps someone would have more ideas.
  5. I don't have any problem keeping almond meal and millet in the fridge...they do stay fresh. Of course, that's good as I only have the freezer space in my side-by-side fridge and have no room in it to store any flours.
  6. Spelt and Kamut are not allowed on a gluten-free diet, which explains why they didn't work for you. /celiac-disease/forbidden-gluten-food-list-unsafe-ingredients-r182/
  7. Tany, here's a list of substitutions from Living Without magazine that you might find helpful . Open Original Shared Link Let us know how your bread turns out.
  8. Tany, are there any recipes on your package of flour? I've never used a bread machine and am still fiddling around looking for that *perfect* gluten-free bread recipe. It's elusive.
  9. You might also want to check out the recalls from the FDA: Open Original Shared Link
  10. I keep all flours and starches in covered Rubbermaid containers...have no problems with bugs.
  11. I keep flax meal in my fridge and have had no problem with it going bad. I don't have any flours/starches in my freezer. I do keep potato flour, brown rice flour and other whole grain type flours in my fridge. White rice flour, potato starch, tapioca flour/starch keep well in my pantry. Hope this helps. Edit: Xanthan gum does not need to be refrigerated...
  12. You really need to use a recipe created especially for gluten-free bread...bread is one of those things that's not simple to convert just using a regular gluteny recipe.
  13. I can't post to anything right now. Edit: Well, I'm surprised this posted.
  14. Tany, did your recipe come with the bread machine? A lot of the recipes I've used also call for eggs (or an egg replacement).
  15. Please note that you are replying to a 7-year old topic and your info may not be correct. Check the label. It's a ConAgra product and wheat cannot be hidden in the ingredients.
  16. You're welcome! So was it good?
  17. Sorry I don't have a recipe as I don't make my own spaghetti sauce. But if you ever wish to doctor up a premade one, all Classico red and white sauces are gluten-free. Open Original Shared Link
  18. Are you saying that you think tapioca has gluten or that you cannot tolerate it? Tapioca flour/starch is a gluten-free product, which a lot of us use in baking. You might want to check these lists of safe and unsafe ingredients and also the Newbie 101 topic. Edit: If for some reason you cannot tolerate tapioca, there are other starches that can be substituted...
  19. I agree with what others have already said. You could pick up an inexpensive toaster for yourself, which would probably be cheaper than buying toaster bags. Some of us did have to give up dairy for awhile. I'd definitely suggest you do that and hopefully after you have healed, you may be able to successfully incorporate dairy products into your diet...
  20. Cobweb type floaters can also be a sign of a Open Original Shared Link. That happened to me back in the 90's but only in one eye.
  21. Squirmy, do you have a local Wal-Mart? I've gotten Libby's canned pumpkin there (I never buy the pumpkin pie filling)
  22. These sound so good...so cinnamon chips are now on my shopping list. Do they really rise properly or are they somewhat dense and heavy? (I need these like I need a hole in my head...and my thighs will not thank me.)
  23. It was good! Comfort food. It's the type of meal I start craving in the fall along with more soups, chili, etc.
  24. You're right on! Hahaha
