  2. Please note that you are replying to a 3-year old thread so ingredients may change from time to time.   3. I do store my knifes in a wooden block...it is the only place I have room for them. Dang, wish my kitchen was bigger but it was just fine when I built the house.
  4. I think your body has given you the answer that your testing is unable to. False negatives on testing are far too common. While the gene tests may be interesting, they are in no way diagnostic as many people have the so called "celiac genes" but never develop the disease. And based on what I've read here on the forum, there are probably other genes involved...

  6. The Big D was my main symtom, too...many times a day (I'm shuddering to think back to those days two years ago). Hated to leave the house at times or I simply did not eat when I knew I had to go somewhere. False negatives are rather common on the celiac panel.   7. I think a magnetic strip is a great idea and I have expensive knives, too. But when I built this house, I wanted tons of light in the kitchen so have under cabinet lights, recessed lights and lots of receptacles and light switches so I simply don't have any place to put one.
  8. I kept my knife block but then I've always washed my knives before they're put away. I tend to buy good kitchen things and also take good care of them. I did buy a new toaster (sad to donate one I really liked and they just don't make toasters like they used to), new cutting boards, new colanders, new wooden spoons, new whisks as mine needed to be replaced...
  9. It took me exactly one loaf of gluten-free yeast bread to know I needed a stand mixer...and I did buy a KitchenAid Artisan. I use it quite often and feel it was a good decision. I still use my handheld mixer for quick breads, etc. It all depends on what I'm making.
  10. Can you just buy a piece of good beef (a chuck roast or whatever) and grind it yourself? I would think for the quantity you would need for Sloppy Joes that you could even use a food processor if you don't have a meat grinder.

My 13-year old gluten-eating granddaughter just loves to make gluten-free pizza. And she's good at it.   15. I think it will get a lot easier for you as it's all pretty overwhelming right away. A lot of the meals I make now are things I've eaten all my life...sometimes as is, sometimes with minor adjustments. Yes, baking is a whole new ballgame but that said, there's not a lot that can't be made gluten-free and be mighty tasty, too. So concentrate on those...
  16. I can't pinpoint it...I just did not care for it. I think texture may have had something to do with it. Of course, it's ages since I made it before so maybe my taste has changed. Perhaps I should try a different kind of flour (maybe Jules).
  17. Not exactly...I can do pretty well on pizza but the bread is still elusive. But I don't give up!!! It's still better than anything I can find around here. I don't have a cast iron skillet but I have on occasion put a pan of hot water in the oven when I bake bread. Doesn't thowing ice cubes in a hot cast iron skillet make it warp?
  18. It never entered my mind. LOL But after my neighbor across the street plowed my driveway this morning, my next door neighbor used his snowblower on my sidewalk. I am very grateful to live in a development with such kind neighbors.
