  1. ...and we appreciate it even more when we realize just how abnormal it had been.
  2. Great idea to know how well it worked. I'm going to pass this info on to my daughter as I know my son-in-law (the pizza maker in the family) does make gluten-free pizza.
  3. When I went gluten-free, my rule of thumb was that if I could get it clean, I kept it. If not, I either threw it away or donated it. My ancient teflon and some even more ancient Tupperware got thrown out but that probably should have been disposed of years ago. And not everything you buy has to be expensive like cutting boards, wooden spoons, etc. I...
  4. I have seen rice noodles in the grocery store but if you have an Asian store near you, they will be downright cheap.
  5. Ore-Ida is a Heinz company and they are very good about labeling. You can check the bag of fries (on the side) and may be surprised that it says gluten-free on it (almost hidden way down at the bottom). I don't know if all their potato products are gluten-free but I know their Sweet Potato Fries are...and they are good. I just checked my bottle of Heinz...
  6. I buy Culturelle Digestive Health at my local Wal-Mart and pay $18.52 for a 30-day supply. I don't know if that price is the same for all Wal-Mart stores but I think it's pretty reasonable.
  7. That's great to hear...I'll be watching for coupons so I can try them.
  8. Welcome to the forum! When we're new, it seems like we can react to most anything and everything. And since the FDA has not come up with guidelines as to what exactly constitutes gluten-free, we are at the mercy of manufacturers, some of whom are very good about testing and labeling. Or you could be reacting to an ingredient in the salad dressing even...
  9. Well, I guess that makes me *ancient*. But to wake up and feel good, that's what counts more than mere numbers.
  10. I also like Garnier Fructis Mousse and would like to try their shampoo and conditioner (using Suave now). Also in the Garnier line is their Ultra-Lift Anti-Wrinkle Firming Moisturizer, which I like a lot better than what I used before. They also run a lot of coupons and their products are easy to find, which is important to me. I'll definitely be buying...
  11. Heck, I have cellulite all the time but I think my age is against me and I've been gluten-free for almost two years.
  12. Going dairy-free was much harder for me, too, although I did use Lactaid milk, which is 100% lactose-free. I missed cheese something terrible but started eating small amounts of hard cheeses when I was gluten-free for 9 months. Now I am able to eat cheese without a problem. I missed pizza so much, which probably explains why I make it so frequently now...
  13. Well, I won't bet the farm on it...just yet anyway.
  14. Well, an anti-aging miracle would help!
  15. YES!!! Specifically I buy the Culturelle Digestive Health and get them from Wally World. Irish Heart suggested I try them and they made a huge difference. So from now on, I'm going to believe everything she says.
  16. Spryng, Lactaid milk is 100% lactose-free. While I did buy that for over a year, I never was a milk drinker per se. I pretty much gave up dairy for about 9 months and then slowly added hard cheeses. Now I seem to be able to tolerate dairy products just fine but I am much older than you so figure it took me longer. Of course, if you are casein intolerant...
  17. I use Blistex Medicated Lip Balm (in the blue-green tube). Neosporin Lip Health is also gluten-free (the last time I checked). I'm sure there are others.
  18. Cosmetics and personal care products are the most difficult to check for gluten. The one thing that's really important to be gluten-free is lipstick and lip balm since they can be ingested.

Yes, I use it and it is gluten-free.
  20. Aly, when you're new to eating gluten-free, you can react to most anything and everything. I don't know that it's because you're super-sensitive though. At 18-months gluten-free, I was still having problems and could never pinpoint what I was reacting to. At that point IrishHeart suggested I start taking a probiotic (specifically Culturelle) and it...
  21. I've only used a L'oreal moisturizer and didn't have any problems with it but have not used their makeup. I've now switched to Garnier and like their moisturizer more than L'oreal.
  22. Jules Gluten Free Flour is certified gluten-free and is free of the top 8 allergens, She has posted a lot of recipes. Open Original Shared Link I also like Pamela's Baking & Pancake Mix and always use it for banana bread and muffins, too.
  23. My answer is that I don't know. My celiac panel was done by Quest and it was highly positive. This was the older panel and Quest is the lab my local small town hospital uses. My daughter in Denver uses LabCorp and had the newer DGP test. Highly positive also. Surprisingly our results were both off-the-map positive and very similar, in fact. I do...
  24. Sounds yummy...and if 1 Tbsp. olive oil is good, how can 3 Tbsp. not be even better! I just pulled up that book on Amazon and it has gotten really good reviews. I've heard about Cybele Pascal's cookbooks before but don't have any of them (yet).
  25. Chrissy, how wonderful that you got a KitchenAid stand mixer for Christmas! I think Prickly's suggestion of starting with a mix is a good one, which will give you an opportunity to get a feel for gluten-free dough, which is really more like a batter. I bought my KitchenAid shortly after diagnosis and I have yet to use the dough hook. I find the flat...
