  1. The website livingwithout.com has a good supply of literature that you could order, then present to the people at work who need to know. Providing written information is much more effective than telling people the information. The cafeteria staff needs an inservice regarding food allergies in general, and gluten specifically. I don't know who does...
  2. I agree completely that purple is a much more appetizing color than green. I've been considering getting something like the Nutri-Bullet. After reading your post, I'm leaning more toward buying one. I have a Vitamix that I love, but the Bullet seems like it would be more convenient.
  3. I don't know if this will help, but below is copied from Stonyfield's web page. It feels a bit vague to me, regarding the YoToddler with cereal yogurt. I hope your daughter is ok. Open Original Shared Link All of our yogurts, smoothies, and soy yogurts, except the YoToddler flavors made with cereal, are certified gluten-free. Our certification tells...
  4. Thank you for the links and the information. I carry GlutenEase with me, and take a couple when we eat out, as a 'just in case, it can't hurt and might help'. After reading the articles, maybe I should save my money.
  5. We will be spending a few days in Reno, Nevada soon. Does anyone have any suggestions for restaurants that are gluten free friendly? Thank you!
  6. Hi. Have you looked into Juice Plus? I haven't looked at their blender mix label in a very long time, but it might work for you. I'm also responding to bump up your post. I hope someone responds who knows more than I do! There was discussion in another post about people reacting to some brands of rice but not others. There was a general concensus that...
  7. If you go to Livingwithout.com, you can order little cards to take with you to restaurants, that explain what gluten is and how to avoid it. If the server looks clueless I will hand one to them, ask them to share it with the chef, and they can keep the card for future reference. Also, I always ask if the restaurant has a gluten free menu. Some do...
  8. Thank you for bringing up this topic. I learned something very important today.
  9. Are you certain that the pan or cooker you are using is free of residual gluten? Just a thought...
  10. Just a thought, could the headache be related to the gum infection and not the antibiotic?
  11. I've been baking a bread made with almond flour, coconut flour, baking soda, flax seed meal, salt, honey, apple cider vinegar, and FIVE eggs. I reduced the eggs to 4 when I baked tonight, did not add any extra liquid, and the only difference is a slightly flatter loaf. My question is how to increase the rise of the loaf without adding back the 5th egg?...
  12. Thank you! Now I know.
  13. This may be useful... Open Original Shared Link Also, I've wondered if the gluten free GS cookies are really gluten-free? Made on gluten-free lines and all? Anyone know?
  14. I prefer to keep purchased foods as simple as possible. For example, I buy plain, organically produced yogurt and flavor it myself. A couple spoonsful of a favorite preserve stirred into a serving of yogurt makes a tasty combination, and I know exactly what is in it. It's taken me a long time to convince family and friends that yes, even a little bit can...
  15. On their website, all of their chocolate bars' labels state they are made on shared equipment with soy. Possibly the bars you ate were cross contaminated? You might contact them and ask about that possibility. http://www.alterecofoods.com/products/chocolate I hope you are able to continue to enjoy chocolate occasionally!
  16. Regarding corn issues, I wonder if it makes a difference if the corn genetically modified or not? I've spoken to people (not necessarily celiac or gluten intolerant) who can tolerate non-GMO corn, but get very sick from GMO corn. Any thoughts or experiences with this?
  17. I use packets of "Stevia in the Raw", a powdered stevia. It contains dextrose and stevia leaf extract. Each little packet states "Naturally Gluten Free Food". This product also comes in bulk form, which I think is also gluten free, although I have not used it nor looked at the package in awhile. I believe instead of dextrose it contains maltodextrin,...
  18. I highly recommend Casey's Cafe in Half Moon Bay, California, for excellent gluten free food and superior service. The owner eats gluten free, and creates many of the recipes. We had a late lunch there today. I enjoyed yummy pumpkin soup served with (I think they're called) pampusas, something like that. It's a fried, crispy food, like very thin sheets...
  19. A friend recommended a place called Source, in San Francisco. I've not eaten there, but they are vegan and gluten free, according to their website. If you try it, please post about your experience!
  20. Hi. Have you tried Envirokidz bars? They are rice based and gluten free, include one called Peanut Choco Drizzle, and another that is just chocolate. They're intended for kids, but I buy them for myself. Upscale markets and healthy food stores usually carry them. I buy them also on vitacost.com.
  21. I have irritable bladder issues, which I have connected with my fibromyalgia, but I wonder if it's more from gluten CC. (Although fibro and gluten intolerance are inextricably connected, IMHO!) We ate dinner out at BJ's Brewhouse on Sunday, and Monday I had awful brain fog, shaky hands, increased joint and muscle pain, and a very unhappy and irritated bladder...
  22. I have a good gluten free granola recipe I would be happy to share, if anyone wants it. It's not low calorie, but it's tasty and gluten free. I use Bob's Gluten Free Oats, but whatever works for you would work in the recipe. I've thought of subbing in quinoa flakes, but haven't tried that yet. Although I'm sure you could use any granola recipe that you...
  23. To avoid cross contamination in my kitchen, I never put a utensil or anything that might go in my food or my mouth directly onto a countertop or on the stove. I use a plate, or a sheet of waxed paper, or sometimes a clean dish towel. My kitchen is not 100% gluten free, and this has worked well for me so far. Also, if I am measuring out gluten free flours...
  24. I don't think I have any other sensitivities, but have wondered lately if I might. I think I've been a bit hypersensitive since I returned from visiting family during the first week of April. I was careful, and the family generally tries to be sure I eat safely, but out of my own kitchen for a week is tricky, and it was an emotionally trying week, in addition...
  25. The most recent post on Kirkland canned chicken breast is from 2010. So. Is this still safe and gluten free? Or, what is the best way to contact CostCo for information? Last time I tried that it was a very frustrating experience. Something 'got' me this morning, probably something I ate yesterday. (Usually I react about 18 hours after contact...
