  1. I think you are on the right track. I've been shifting my attitude about our relationship with wheat and corn which are basically modified grasses it's a the glass is half full thing. We aren't sensitive to it. Others are immune to it. There's nothing wrong with me because I react to it. It's garbage and is not really food if we were meant to eat grasses...
  2. does anyone find that experiencing stress ever causes your DH to flare up? I feel like i have noticed a correlation between the two, yet it's hard to tell for sure because you never know about trace gluten/CC you might be getting. My DH was getting much better after going casien free, I got off of wheat @ 3 years ago, but only recently learned about casien...
  3. Funny. I'm visiting my family and my mom bought me some pre sliced mango with the best of intentions and I realized it just wasn't worth the risk. She has been very understading and supportive but you can only explain so much at a time. I just declined to eat it w/ out a fuss
  4. I am imagining the huge greasy burger you describe hovering in space like the Death Star in Star Wars ; " remain on target,... Remain on target"
  5. talked to my friend, he said he has some muscle tension that keeps him awake, and a racing mind prob doesn't help either. i found out recently that a magnesium deficiency could be a cause of insomnia. geuss what? gluten sensitivity could cause the deficiency, which reminds me; make sure you are getting omega oils, like fish oil, and sublingual B12 is a must...
  6. Does orangina contain corn syrup? If so then ... Bingo!! Corn is harvested with the same equipment and stored in the same silos as wheat and they don't clean it out. It is always contaminated. I am always amazed when people here can get away with processed corn. I started doing way better when I stopped eating corn chips and tortillas even though it made...
  7. I hear you Eva-girl. Good point
  8. If a fairie could wave a magic wand and make gluten disappear from the face of the earth, how much buisness would the medical "industry" lose overall? 5 percent ? 15 percent ? 50 percent or maybe more? Including the psychiatric field how much work would doctors have left? What do you think? The more I learn about gluten and it's widespread effect on...
  9. I love to eat sweet potatoes. Kale. Quinoa. Salad. Chicken. Lamb. Flax seed. Fish. Sqaushes like acorn , butternut, delacotta I know it sounds really boring but you get used to it. Pretty much avoid anything processed or pre packaged even if it says gluten free it may have some slight contaminationwhich will set you back. Right now I'm trying to keepbit...
  10. Sounds very familiar. I had numbness and tingling in my right arm that came and went over a period of months before getting 100 percent gluten-free. I atributed this to a pinched nerve which I now realize was a fantasy it has gone away along with the D and GI pain, most of my anxiety and depression is way less intense and long lasting and the achiness and...
  11. I use a coffee grinder to grind flax seed and sprinkle it all over my salads and greens; it's not only yummy but the oils get released freshly by the grinder as I understand it. give it a try, you'll love it!!
  12. I've read many times on the forum that people feel teased and tempted by the smell of glutenous foods, but I'm with you, the smell makes me nauseous, so much that i'll avoid walking by a bakery. I've been off of wheat for 2 years plus, but only got all the gluten ( and casien ) weeded out (hopefully) about 2 months ago. I've had this reaction to the smell...
  13. Try dropping the yoghurt; I know for me, I knew dairy was bad, but I thought , Oh, a little in my tea every day won't hurt, I can get away with it> If I ever broke down and had ice cream I felt horrible the next day, and my DH just erupted, so I knew what was up, but was just stubborn. When I cut out all casien I noticed a very significant improvement...
  14. Sure, but pay no attention to that man behing the curtain
  15. i've been free of gluten and casien/dairy for about the same amount of time; a little over a month, and have days where i feel very run down, sometimes very on edge and irritable, (nothing new), interspersed with feeling much better than i have in a long time. I was recommended the book The Gluten Effect by dr.s Petersen and was shocked to learn that when...

    ARCHIVED The Dh Rash

I've been gluten-free ( and dairy, ect...) for @ a month, and have had bad Dh on my scalp and face for many years, and it had gotten way way worse over the last year. It seems like the insane itching, and oozing went down after just a week or so of stopping the dairy, and trace gluten in things like xantam gum which slips into a lot of products.I can definatly...
  17. Hi! I've been gluten-free for @ 1 month, and am feeling much better; after being off of wheat for about 3 years, i was still having problems with ( besides my other symptoms like DH) my mind and emotions being totally out of control. when it happens now, it lasts a MUCH shorter time. I would have a thought about how something upset me, and could not get...
  18. I've experienced this too many times. I was doing catering jobs a up to a few months ago, and if someone was even slicing some bread nearby me I would react; within 30 seconds i would feel like my nose was running really fast all the sudden, would get dizzy, sometimes to where i could barely stand up. get a screaming headache like someone put a vise on my...
  19. thanks for your input, everyone! JNBunnie; I was getting exposed to gluten while I was doing catering as a job, and just being aroung it, breathing the air when someone is slicing bread nearby, and cc was glutening me, I stopped doing this, but the real improvement in my symptoms (especially DH) occured when i cut out the dairy, and an amazake rice drink...
  20. check out the pink himalayan salt, it has a ton of trace minerals. I put a little in my drinking water. It actually has a hydrating effect.
  21. I've been on a gluten-free diet for @ 3 years (after being told that I have a 'wheat allergy"), have been off of processed corn for a year, and now off of casien, dairy, and trying to avoid cross-contamination ( i.e. resturants) for almost a month. My rather extreme DH on my scalp then started getting better for the first time ever, but then erupted again...
  22. I'm going through the same thing. i've been totally overwhelmed the last few weeks as i'm just now realizing the effect having celiac my whole life and not knowing it has had on me, how i've kind of been held back in life, dealing with bouts of depression and emotional meltdowns my whole life. all these memories come back to me from my past and i can see...
