notme replied to nvsmom's topic in Publications & Publicity
i had to watch this 3 times before i saw/heard what y'all are talking about. ok, yeah, they shouldn't have said that, but i think it makes more fun of nascar than anything else. gem is right, there *is* a certain mentality of race fans (it's generally nice)(hells to the yeah we are rednecks) anybody else actually ever *been* to a race? i have never seen... -

i use an app on my phone called 'my fitness pal' and it will keep track of all that. it's easy to use if you can get it (and, it's free ) i didn't even know it was keeping track of how much iron, carbs, vitamins, etc until it kept congratulating me for choosing healthy things (plus, it's nice and encouraging, lolz) and if you plug in your weight and your...- 13 replies

ARCHIVED Are 4C Gluten Free Bread Crumbs Really gluten-free?
notme replied to gfmomtoK's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
shipping companies DO wash out their trailers and containers, that is if they do not designate dedicated trailers for a particular product. in MOST cases, manufacturers have 'house carriers' which allows a shipping company to drop trailers at specific loading origins and have their mode of power (truck or train) pick them up when they are dropping empties... -

ARCHIVED Low Gluten Flour + Gluten Does Not Create Celiac Reaction?
notme replied to pone's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
that is terrible! if you have celiac, it's all day, every day, no gluten, period. maybe you should get a different book? -
((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) celiac is genetic, so, you were born this way. it usually presents itself after something like a serious illness or pregnancy <that's when i started noticing symptoms after i gave birth to my son) or some sort of trigger. but the symptoms are subtle and sneaky. a little indigestion here, a headache there, etc. until one...

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
notme replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
tonight is lef d'ouvres chicken parm, spaghetti & salad. i will be putting shoes on it as i have a dinner meeting tonight. i got these containers from the mart of wal that have 3 compartments and seal all the way to the top so that the compartments don't get all mixed together if they get tipped over or whatnot, so i can put bread right into it and... -
i eat out, like, a few times a year and only at carefully scrutinized places. i ask a million questions and make sure they understand exactly what i want. i tip really really well the last few times i got glutened it was from eating out. if i can't be sure it's safe, eat before or i bring my own or eat before and bring a snackity snack. too bad if...

right - the amount of it in the recipe(s) is probably not enough to even notice - it is more for the texture when combined with other ingredients. i was resistant to the psyllium husk dealio, too - nicole hunn uses it alot in her cookbook (gluten free on a shoestring) and i was all like: YUCK! but, i am going to try it with the atk book - too many of my... -

thanx, y'all! had to chuckle, when i asked the doc if there was any reason the coconut oil would help my digestion. he says: i dunno well, alll righty, then! i am now on an 'as needed' patient, being as i never had a positive blood test and am not going to do a gluten challenge, no sense in testing for antibodies (because there aren't any) my probiotic... -

nuts.com is da bomb i ordered them initially because they are certified gluten-free, but when they arrived, they were the prettiest nuts - not all broken and crumbly like the ones you get pre-packaged from the store. i order a few times a year and always timely delivery -

				ARCHIVED Flour Canisters
notme replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i use canning jars. they will also work in the freezer. i actually use canning jars for lots of things - they are great for taking salads for picnics - macaroni, potato, ect <in the warm weather, you can put a big bowl of (say) potato salad into (say) 4 quart jars and then just take out one at a time. clear glass, so you can tell what's in each... -

follow-up, y'all - that coconut oil is the real deal so far just a teaspoon in my tea in the morning. my digestion has improved yet again. it's been consistent, so it's definitely the coconut oil. going to the doc today, so i'm going to get my 'official' weight..... wish me luck - i'm hoping for close to 115......? swedish venison pot roast in the crock pot (kfg ! ) mashed taters, carrots. made chocolate chip cookies from the atk cookbook yesterday - used domato (donato?) flour and didn't realize it already had xanthan gum in it, so they are super chewy <pretty tasty, actually) i like them a little flatter, but they're still good. a word of advice... -

				ARCHIVED Unusual Question
notme replied to Brit1612's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Open Original Shared Link something interesting i read recently (although the article is a few years old) not such an unusual question really started to blow my mind, being as i have given birth to children from 2 different men - so, did the younger one get any genes from my ex (i hope not!) and, being as my pregnancy triggered my celiac, did my son... -

do you have any idea of how many calories you are consuming daily? i have this same problem (not being able to keep weight on) and discovered i wasn't eating nearly enough calories to gain weight (plus, i have a very high metabolism) i found this info out by plugging everything i ate into a phone app called 'my fitness pal' - most people use this when they... -
