  1. yesss, indeedy! i want to say i saw bbq chicken and margarita flavors. i may have picked up the bbq chicken by accident but i'm gonna eat it anyway! (not my favorite......)
  2. yup. ibs is a symptom, not a diagnosis. kind of a catch-all in the gi world (aka cop out) yeah, i heard the "oh, you're just high strung" well, you tend to be that way when you always have to know where the closest bathroom is LOLZ there is also such a thing as gluten withdrawal, it feels a little like the flu, so take it easy on yourself for the first...
  3. goodNESS! girl, you sound like i was. i jumped through all the doctor hoops for YEARS and then, when my doctor is considering putting me in the hospital, (dangerously low weight from malabsorbtion) they *finally* said the magic word: celiac. no drugs, but no gluten. it's like night and day. my quality of life had dwindled down to getting up to go to...
  4. what are you eating? how long have you been gluten free? read the newbie 101 locked thread at the top of this section. it's tricky to be completely gluten free (which is the ONLY way the inflammation in your body will ever subside) but it's manageable. it just takes a little practice. when i was diagnosed, i was like, no big deal, i'll just order...
  5. that does sound yumz ! i've been venturing into 'packaged food world' very cautiously (as i'm eating my snack pack pudding! i know, i know, i can make chocolate pudding from scratch....... i just wanted a little bit, though, not enough to make a whole recipe of it) like you, i am TRYING to avoid the soy, so i was happy that the chicken didn't contain...
  6. i had no issues with the perdue tenders (just the leap of faith lolz <they sat in my freezer for a month before i got enough nerve to try them) and i was pleasantly surprised at how yummy they were. and easy, and i don't have to cook all of them at once, so good for when hubs is out of town and it's just (lazy) me i hope you didn't have a reaction to...
  7. true story. also, bleach will not 'destroy the molecule' of gluten, you will just have sanitized gluten. it may,, however, allow the gluten to be loosened easier to wash it away. gluten can be destroyed but it's by heating it to, like 655 degrees or something. soap and water is fine. hand sanitizer, not so much. some people wash their dishes by hand...
  8. you have positive bloodwork! not to mention the genes and the other AI diseases.... you have celiac. get a new doctor. i *was* half dead (ok, mostly dead!) before they even considered testing for celiac (never even heard of it, been going to doctor after doctor with seemingly unrelated symptoms) start eating gluten free, read the newbie 101 section on...
  9. i'm so glad you are having a pain-free day, barty! what time of day do you take these raisins? if i do a few 'moonshine maracshinos' (<sp) i am generally in no pain, lolz, but the next day is a b!+ch j/k i don't have arthritis........ yet
  10. O M G hateful isn't the word. and to think, this person is presumably a parent, therefore creating horrible humans. absolutely ridiculous. people like her should be less worried with children with allergies (WHAT? i miss out on enough without feeling bad about it!!) and more worried about getting accidentally stabbed in the face. (aw, she had a metal...
  11. what karen said: i had a multitude of 'unrelated' symptoms clear up after i started the gluten free diet. just because he doesn't have digestive issues doesn't necessarily mean he is asymptomatic. migraines, joint pain, fatigue, inflammation etc and many things are misdiagnosed not to mention his immune system is in constant distress and not working correctly...
  12. i just spit on my dishes and hope for the best because my dog died KIDDING !! but i do hate the dishwasher discussion. let's get back to the subject i think the hardest thing would be to keep the kid's hands out of his mouth (and toys, etc) i, myself, had a hard time stopping licking my fingers. you don't realize how many times you do that...
  13. what is NAET treatment? your problems sure sound familiar (ugh) - but - if you're planning (or your dr is planning) on doing more tests, do stay on gluten. my blood test came back negative because my dumb dr told me to try gluten free *before* testing. is your dr wanting to do an endoscopy? they'll tell you to continue eating gluten. i feel ya, kiddo...
  14. do they use hand sanitizer? whoever is handling his food (including him) need to wash their hands with soap and water, especially if they are preparing gluteny food for others. hand sanitizer will only make the gluten germ free. you have to rinse it off. i would switch your pet food, too. and anything that could run into his mouth at bath time, like...
  15. HAHAHAAAHAAAAA! that is hilarious!!! opening scene: brain fog comes rolling in. toilets flushing furiously..... LOLOLZ !! i hope you feel better, dave & welcome to the forum. don't eat the gluten. it obviously hates you
  16. i use tide free and clear (no perfumes or dyes) regularly with no problem. i wash my clothes with it.
  17. unfortunately, neurological symptoms are the last to leave :/ when i get glutened, i am a raving lunatic <although i know now that this is a side effect of gluten so if i feel myself getting worked up about nothing, i know to remove myself until i get myself together, mentally) the good news is: she is young! i'm sure if she sticks to the gluten free...

    ARCHIVED Ouch

if i get cc'd, it takes 14 days (not 13, not 15) for my body to get back to 'normal' - i thought maybe that would change since i haven't messed up in a very long time. nope. still 14 days. don't buy sandwich meat that they slice 10" away from the sandwich making station from people who never heard of celiac. lesson learned!! lolz - cyclinglady, i...
  19. once again, there is no gluten in chicken. rinse your chicken if you think there is gluten ON it and you will magically rinse it off....
  20. blah, i messed up on vacation, too. i wasn't as careful as i should have been, even though i planned and packed food, i broke my own rules (2 of 'em ) now, i'm having a pretty sharp reminder why i made the rules in the first place!! (plus, i'm having to listen to the husband tell me 'i told you so", so, adding insult to injury. he's had years of practice...
  21. i just gluten poisoned myself last weekend, and even my "safe" foods are giving me trouble it's the residual inflammation that takes awhile to go away, so, basically your body is just having to settle back down. boy, it's been a long time since i messed up. a harsh reminder of why we need to be so careful. i believe i was cross contaminated from a meat...

    ARCHIVED Guilt

o, redhead, i feel your guilt! but, we didn't know where my daughter's r.a. and son's type one diabetes came from until i got diagnosed in my 40's. nothing i can do about it now, and they are pretty awesome people. i don't think i would want to miss knowing them plus, maybe you won't pass it on or they can actually inherit the gene and never have it...
  23. ps - i can only get bard's beer by my distributor special ordering it (and it took him 3 months to set it up!!! i am customer # 099, lolz)
  24. not snarky - TRUE! when i go up to my sister's in nj, i stock up!!! tennessee doesn't have half of what i can find up there...........
  25. if you have positive blood test, i would think you have celiac. false negatives are common, false positives are not. damage to your villi would certainly confirm this. what is your dr thinking...... what does that even mean 'characterize it on the scale' does she mean marsh level ? (i'm sorry, i don't know what ILe's are) i wonder why she wouldn't think...
