  1. i have a script for xanax. i don't take a whole lot of it and only a little at a time (like i break the tablet into 6 pieces and eat 1 every few hours - i originally got it for traveling and the dosage is 1/2 tablet who needs a plane lolz - GI doc said to use it to help with D during stress) when i'm stressing. the worse part is realizing i'm stressing...
  2. i am throwing sauerkraut and brats in the crock pot tonight. went away for the weekend and got glutened somewhere........ mine is a delayed reaction, so at least it didn't ruin the weekend. (although, i was suspicious when i started having balance issues) rahhh.... i have a ton of stuff to do and all i want to do is go to bed.
  3. my celiac gene must have turned 'on' when i was (or soon after) pregnant with my first baby. of course, i didn't know i had it. i had a miscarriage very early on (very wierd, because baby's cells kept multiplying, just not enough (?) ) anyway, i had to have a d&c with that one and doctors said i might have problems with any subsequent pregnancies....
  4. at a dinner meeting... she (as i am unpacking my dinner from home): oh, i hear you have - what is it? - celiac? me: yep. that's why i'm brown baggin' it... she: oh, yeah, i know. they said i have that, too. me: then, why are you eating a ROLL.... she: oh, i could never follow the diet. it's too hard. (as she waves the roll...
  5. i use prego with no problems. lots of the prego varieties are labeled gluten free i usually make my own sauce but jar sauce is good for 'cheat' nights when i'm lazy i can't swear, but i think i've eaten the barilla with no problems, either. i have a soy sensitivity, but if i don't overdo it, i can sneak a little. i have been on the gluten free diet...
  6. omgosh, that is really interesting! here's a wierd story: i had a very good friend (male) we got along really well, my dad and his dad were friends, he had $$ and was even building his own house, so, good for me that he wanted to date, right? i resisted for a long time, then agreed to go out with him (not wanting to ruin the friendship, i even set him...
  7. i take zyrtec 24 hr every day. i'm allergic to everything: dust, pollen, mold, animals, perfume, you name it. it's wierd, because my sense of smell is never working and every now and again i'll be like: i'm smelling things. cool. then it's gone, lolz. annnd, i don't know if it's a co-incidence or whether it helps with intestinal inflammation, but...
  8. tonight i have venison stew cooking in the crock pot. haha i keep looking at the clock and thinking: i should probably start dinner....
  9. haha! our house is 'Die Fledermaus Haus' or 'The House of Fifty Mustards' last night we had cod in parchment with orange, ginger & mushrooms (the recipe wanted s$#&akes, but evidently, if you are expecting snow in east tennessee, everybody needs s$#&akes??? lolz) steamed sticky rice and romaine salad. tonight is repeat, haha i...
  10. cooking for my friend's mardi gras party tomorrow night - making oysters bienville for 40 (and taking mine out first, of course) and spicy marinated shrimp to eat with udi's baguette. also crab cakes we're having the shrimp & crabcakes with salad for dinner tonight and i will take leftovers to the party. if i have time, ima try a king cake. no baby...
  11. udi's is pretty good - they make good baguettes if you can find them. i was overjoyed to find some of their breakfast wraps in the freezer section so i tried one for breakfast this morning. they were ok, but pretty bland. the tortilla wrap itself was good i think i'll just find the wraps make up a bunch and freeze them myself. i hope your plan...
  12. i use an app on my phone called 'my fitness pal' and it will keep track of all that. it's easy to use if you can get it (and, it's free ) i didn't even know it was keeping track of how much iron, carbs, vitamins, etc until it kept congratulating me for choosing healthy things (plus, it's nice and encouraging, lolz) and if you plug in your weight and your...
  13. tonight is lef d'ouvres chicken parm, spaghetti & salad. i will be putting shoes on it as i have a dinner meeting tonight. i got these containers from the mart of wal that have 3 compartments and seal all the way to the top so that the compartments don't get all mixed together if they get tipped over or whatnot, so i can put bread right into it and...
  14. right - the amount of it in the recipe(s) is probably not enough to even notice - it is more for the texture when combined with other ingredients. i was resistant to the psyllium husk dealio, too - nicole hunn uses it alot in her cookbook (gluten free on a shoestring) and i was all like: YUCK! but, i am going to try it with the atk book - too many of my...
  15. i could inhale an eclair...........
  16. swedish venison pot roast in the crock pot (kfg ! ) mashed taters, carrots. made chocolate chip cookies from the atk cookbook yesterday - used domato (donato?) flour and didn't realize it already had xanthan gum in it, so they are super chewy <pretty tasty, actually) i like them a little flatter, but they're still good. a word of advice...
  17. that sounds yummy husband is on the road, so i'm making the white pizza he hates (udi's crust, ricotta, mozz, parmesan reggiano, broccoli, sweet onion and some leftover sausage) he hates broccoli on pizza. ok, he hates everything about this pizza, lololz
  18. yep, i do that as well just don't over-do them or you will need dental work! lolz also, those crusts are a good sub for pita bread (no pocket but you can heat them a little and fold them) when i make gyros. you have to get inventive. my favorite word in the kitchen is: VOILA! (second favorite: presto!) you get the idea last night was bruschetta...
  19. check me: went to the butcher yesterday and they didn't have any seafood that we wanted to eat, (i hate farm raised, sorry) so we stopped at the new (HUGE) kroger - so, i am getting oysters and i notice the sign on the lobster tails says "7.99/lb" and i was like 'hmmm..... i wonder how many lobster tails are in a pound...?' turns out, it's FIVE hahahahaaa...

  21. there's hope for you yet, barty! and my recipe totally uses red wine, so the red wine vinegar didn't sound odd at all mine is my mom's recipe and calls for the meat to marinade for, like, 5 days or something. but i can cook everything the day before (except the pancakes) and just warm it to make the gravy. w00t! ikwym! i have 5 or 6 (grandkids...
  22. that is a great idea, barty - sauerbraten! i have some venison roasts in the freezer that i was trying to think of something good to cook when everyone is here for thanksgiving that will feed a big crowd and i can do that completely gluten-free because i serve it with potato pancakes. yay, so that is ONE meal lolz i just need 3 more - trying to keep the...
  23. last night our youngest rolled us a whole mess of sushi spicy crab, smoked salmon <philadelphia type roll) shrimp tempura = yummmz! she is the sushi chef at her grocery store, so she was all showing off her skills. they had the nori (seaweed) wrapper, and she used rice spring roll wrappers and fresh spinach for mine. i have not had sushi in four years...

  25. (O MY BOB THAT IS A SCARY AVATAR!! LOLZ!!) i have a 'misto' -- it's a sprayer/mister that you can put any oil into it that you want and you pressurize it by pumping it. got it at kroger, so it's not hard to find and it was about $10. it works pretty well and i think i'm going to get a second one (i have olive oil in the one i have, but i would like...
