  1. ya right, but o.p. is also being tested for celiac (and whatever else) so... idk about everybody else, but when i had my endoscopy, it was considered 'exploratory' and, yep, in the back of my mind was the (cancer) worry.
  2. thank you for proving my point. BOOM. ya done
  3. mleh, maybe a moderator will take care of this rude needs to take it somewhere else. not to mention, *terrible* advice on many different topics. i use culturelle with no issues, although i have switched off to different brands (walgreens store brand and another brand - both labeled gluten free. when you start using it, your gut will sound like a...
  4. this is alllllllllllllllllllllllllll not true. (except that corn maltodextrine is ok) i don't even know *what * that second statement even means. not everybody is lactose intolerant. once your villi begin to heal, they will produce more of the enzyme your body needs to digest lactose. and what does maltodextrine have to do with any of this ?
  5. if they didn't know what they were looking for when they did the endoscopy, but were testing for multiple things, then it is fortunate they included celiac in their testing - yay, you! it's very difficult to get such a definitive answer right off the bat. you have celiac. i believe that your doc is covering his bases as to the five points of celiac dx...
  6. the o.p. is trying to get tested and people need to be eating gluten to be tested. there is no sure time frame for healing. what if it's not celiac at all but something else revealed by an endoscopy....
  7. i was in this exact predicament lolz - i needed pecans in a hurry, so i googlied it - 'diamond' said their pecans were gluten-free on the website, but when i got the package home, the dreaded disclaimer was on the back: manufactured on shared equipment, may contain other tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy, milk or sesame seeds. may contain shell pieces. i...
  8. if you haven't been tested yet, you need to continue to consume gluten otherwise your test results may be incorrect. the blood test is for detecting antibodies and if your body isn't fighting, the test won't detect any or not enough. here is some suggested reading: just a couple of hundred other things involved with being completely gluten free ...
  9. nah, it's not 4 slices, it's less. if i ever have to do a gluten challenge (which is eating gluten for a period of time before being tested for antibodies - what you are describing) i would be wearing OUT some pizza, lolz. good gluten-free pizza is the holy grail for me :/ haven't had good pizza since i started the gluten-free diet. anyhoo...
  10. yayyyy! because i'm *always* suspicious of vinegar..... i know, i know, if it's distilled, it should be fine.....
  11. i am 5 years gluten-free (celiac) and a couple of weeks ago i took a couple of big swigs of my daughter-in-law's regular gluten beer by accident. i had mostly neuro issues but not the knock down i was expecting. i hope this is proof that i am healing and diet is totally worth it. i haven't been sick (cold, flu, virus, pneumonia, etc) in, like, 4 years...
  12. not only is celiac difficult to diagnose, the medical community loses alot of $$$ if that is indeed what is wrong with you. an undiagnosed celiac sufferer is a gold mine because your immune system isn't working properly, so you will be susceptible to many other things. it is also a future gold mine, because chances are that you will develop other more serious...
  13. yeah, withdrawal is a thing - some people get it, some don't. it feels like the flu (mine lasted 2 weeks) so, i just treated it as such: nap when you can,(many, many naps!) lots of fluids, etc, i think i took some tylenol for head/body aches. it should go away soon, or your days should start getting progressively better. hang in there
  14. ^^^this. is what i went through for 25 years. treating every symptom separately (yessss, i had all the pills ALL of them - i notice now there is a new drug out for 'IBS-D' that makes me scream at the tv "DO YOU MEAN CELIAC???!!!" i'm sure if i wasn't already dx'd my doc would be running to the prescription pad...) i've been treated for migraines, vertigo...
  15. LOLZ ! "here i sit, all broken-hearted....." it took me years to re-learn the art of the fart. OP - have you tried digestive enzymes or probiotics? i have experimented with them until i have the perfect combination that works for my body. digestive enzymes will help to break down food in your stomach (i take them with every meal) and probiotics...
  16. if i had to eat gluten again for testing, i would be wearing out the pizza!!! because if you hafta go gluten free after all this, good pizza is far and few between, lolz - just about mythical as in, i have heard tales of decent gluten-free pizza, but i've never been lucky enough to ever eat any. blech. good luck with your challenge ps - brain...
  17. LOLZ! mine was $3, too! that is too funny!
  18. i use back bay brand (on sale at big lots! yay!) ingredients: water, alcohol, and vanilla bean extractives no problems and i have used nearly half the bottle.
  19. i drink 'regular' lipton tea every morning (no fancy flavors, just hot tea) and do not have any issues with it.
  20. someone told me (so, this is not presented as a scientific fact) (it might have been on this forum) that ibuprofen contains iodine. so, in the beginning, i was avoiding it until my skin cleared up. now, i don't have the headaches i used to have or that lovely joint pain, so i probably take 2 per year. and then my scalp will break out, so i figure it is...
  21. i stay away from iodine (except for naturally occuring as in fish) because, no matter how long i've been gluten free, it still makes my skin rashes flare up. for what it's worth, i think science has MUCH TO LEARN about gut flora and its very important role it plays in overall health. my husband was tilling the garden to plant last spring and he tilled...
  22. is it possible you are still getting gluten somewhere? even a little bit? that's wierd with the fever, though. <have you been tested for lyme disease?) are you eating dairy? vertigo would be a neurological symptom and neuro is always the last to leave the symptom party (sorry) i still have balance issues (less and less, but i guess i'm gonna hafta...
  23. what barty said **** really and truly, if you stop getting ANY gluten, your anxieties will calm down. i have that reaction when i am glutened <once i recognize it, i stay away from people. but i am super duper careful not to eat anything that is remotely suspicious. once you are completely gluten free, your body will work better, you'll be healing...
  24. i'm sorry i feel ya, been there, done that <well, not exactly that, but i know the feeling) people are always so: " oh, it'll be NO PROBLEM ! you'll be fine, we'll find a way around it, BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH" but when it comes right down to it, they DO have a problem with it. and the attitude?? PUHLEASE! wow, i'm so sorry you feel so bad for me that...
