  1. or the time i amazed everyone with my ability to leap across the kitchen, screaming: "NOT THAT SPOON!! NOOOOOO!!" like i'm taking a bullet for a loved one LOLOLZ
  2. most packaged frozen pizzas don't 'like' me - i ate the freschetta brand (gluten-free) and it felt like i was digesting broken glass - not fun! the against the grain brand is one i can manage. idk why. i still have a little residual sensitivity to soy (but not all the time? lolz stupid body) and i try to stick with the brands that have the least amounts...
  3. how are they 'gone' after deep frying.............? because of cc, i avoid mcd's - not a careful environment - even if they were trying to keep a fryer dedicated, too many opportunities for mistakes. i am in the u.s. ps - this is a very old thread, i suggest contacting the company for updated ingredient list
  4. o, barty, what can i say :(((((((( i am so sad :(((((((((( won't you at least try treatment :((((( my daughter's boyfriend was dx/d w/lymphoma stage 4 and that was 5 years ago and he is fine....... :/ they are doing magical things with meds/treatments lots of new stuff ???
  5. i eat honey with no issues. it doesn't matter, local or from grocery store, i'm ok with it. o, the age old tea bag question: nope, no wheat paste - i understand they are heat pressed so that the paper meshes to itself. i use red rose brand tea bags and they have staples (no good for microwave, but i always make tea with boiling water) if you are...
  6. really and truly, it doesn't matter if you have celiac or a gluten sensitivity, if eating a gluten free diet makes you feel better, the hell with everybody else. goodness - he should be happy you're feeling better!! if you've ruled out any other explanation for your symptoms (i know most of us were pincushions/lab rats for a long time "maybe it's this...
  7. as far as the symptoms being worse the longer you are gluten-free, here is my theory: when you were sick, (before your dx), you didn't get symptoms all at once - over time, and as your body was getting more damaged, gluten sneaked up on us - first, our guts hurt, then the big D, then headaches, etc and little by little, we eventually felt like a truck...
  8. i would be eating pizza and donuts - two of my most missed foods and difficult to find a gluten-free substitute! lolz, yup: me, pizza, donuts, the bed, and the bathroom............... sorry about your dad - welcome to the forum.
  9. jello is fine. maybe you are sensitive to something else.
  10. it's such an odd thing - i would have never associated half of my symptoms to celiac but i have had amazing results - dx'd at age 47 and i'm 5 years on the diet - sooo many seemingly unrelated issues have cleared up. so, it's not that far of a stretch that this could be caused by that pesky gene nobody who treated my daughter could tell me what caused...
  11. i'm not a doc fan, either. you're like a cash machine when they can make all sorts of $$ on all your separate symptoms - how much $$ do they make with a celiac dx? $0.00 ! because the ONLY CURE is the gluten-free diet, so, doctors lose $ treating your symptoms. they also lose in the future, when you don't catch every damb germ in a hundred mile radius...
  12. ugh, i'm so sorry this is happening to you your post, however, is of interest to me as my daughter has been having corneal problems since she was twelve. she was also dx'd with r.a. at the same age. so, we attributed it to that sort of inflammation.... fast forward to my celiac dx (the 'hail mary' dx, lolz) and i am trying to convince her to get tested...
  13. i grate my own cheese and pop it into the freezer. like gem said, less crap added. i'm a big fan of the less ingredients, the better. cheese: milk, salt, enzymes... boom. cheese. generally, it's less expensive, too so, the cheapskate in me likes that. and, i can have exactly the brand i want (cabot extra sharp white cheddar? yes please!!...
  14. lolz " farewell to all pies tour " sounds about right !! good luck !!
  15. lizzy, my stroudsburg friend is out of town on business, but when he gets back he is going to contact someone who he thinks has a kids' group. he and his wife have 7 or so kids (stopped counting at 5 lolz) and they are vegan, so he might have some other local resources for your son. i learned of some other celiacs/ncgi people just randomly (church, lions...
  16. my dad used to threaten to send me to blair academy when i skipped school, lolz - i had a friend who actually went there and she got into waaaayy more mischief than i did in west milford
  17. lolz - i got married in blairstown ('where hope is only one exit away', lolz) are you in pa or nj? close to hackettstown nj? there is an awesome restaurant called 'mama's baci' that offers an EXTENSIVE gluten free menu and they have a dedicated kitchen. you can even get sauces, bread, pasta, etc to go if you're in a hurry. never have gotten sick there...
  18. since the new appearance of the site, we have been getting posts from people who either aren't signed up or aren't logged in properly. these misguided posts end up in our inboxes and discarded - really a waste because there are some good comments and questions (some are particularly long) but unfortunately, we cannot even move them or return them because...

    ARCHIVED Brian

i had a rough first year (at least) navigating the diet. i thought i could 'just order off the gluten free menu', basically. that it wasn't 'that difficult, no problem.....' so, i got cross contaminated quite a bit in the beginning. when i finally managed to start cutting ALL gluten out i sure noticed when i got accidentally glutened (as did everyone...
  21. lolz - i wish i could take credit but i stole it from a meme - but i do like the positivity/sarcasm
  22. yep, you are going to be detoxing -- mine was complete with withdrawals (sweating, shaky, sickly) and i kept re-glutening myself because i had no idea what i was doing, so, one step forward, 1/2 step back, but after about 2 weeks of eating completely clean, each day began to be better and better. i would advise you to read the 'newbie 101' locked thread...
  23. i remember you you drive truck. i was still relatively new when you left. well, take another run at it - i can't help to think that you might have avoided at least some of these complications i'm so sorry BUT maybe you can reverse it. i get in denial sometimes, too, when it doesn't seem to make a difference or i'm just flat out having a pity...
  24. why do you think wheat is hurting you in the first place? because of your lyme disease? did a doctor tell you not to eat wheat? everybody feels crummy sometimes, give it a minute and maybe you'll feel better. if you're trying to quit gluten, i had withdrawal - some do, some don't - i felt better after about 2 weeks strictly gluten free. then i felt...
  25. i think i would take my positive biopsy. i think they consider 5 points for diagnosis, and if you have 3, you're considered diagnosed with celiac. vitamin deficient, positive blood test, positive biopsy, response to gluten-free diet (and there's one more i can't remember - gah!) (anemic?) anyways, the positive biopsy is usually the clincher. testing...
