ARCHIVED Make Up
notme replied to Serielda's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i use physicians formula. they're gluten free, but i don't know if they're vegetarian or not. my skin has always been sensitive, nothing to do with gluten, but some 'regular' foundations or tinted moisturizers will make my face break out in a rash also, i can't do fragrances, blah, blah - sometimes i can't believe God made me a girl. who smells like...- 9 replies

ARCHIVED Frustrated, Not Sure What To Do From Here!
notme replied to Trisarahtops's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
and we basically said the same thing - hahaha! i am a huge food journal pusher - if something is giving me trouble or if i feel like gluten is sneaking in somewhere, i do the journal thing. the first time i did it, i was amazed at what i didn't remember eating unless i wrote it down. lolz, refer to the memory loss thread -
amen to that.... and it is not just picky about alcohol i have a lower tolerance to alcohol since i've been gluten free. now, i just stick to beer if i don't want to go from zero to drunk in 2 glasses of wine no thanks, i'll just have a beer! maybe my gut wasn't absorbing the alcohol and now that i'm healing/better, it is absorbing it (in...

notme replied to Trisarahtops's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
it's good you're going back to see your doctor to make sure something else isn't going on. that being said, have you switched shampoos, etc, personal care products? using a different pet food? maybe somebody changed ingredients and something that was safe for you is not anymore. we are constantly chanting "check the label, check the label...." lolz ... -

lolz - yeah, i resemble that remark in my un-diagnosed years, i have chunks of time that are missing. scaryyyy, because i raised 4 kids! they are all like: hey, mom, remember when we blah blah blah. i'm like: nope. and then they go into great detail which includes some very out of the ordinary event <like, A NORMAL PERSON WOULD REMEMBER but... -

my son's girlfriend has problems with her thyroid - last year she was an absolute wreck because when you're thyroid is out of wack, everything else is, too. it took some adjustments to her thyroid meds until they got it back in balance *for her* - i guess that is what is difficult about treating thyroid problems is that everyone's body is different and... -

first, you get goat cheese - plain is good, i haven't tried any other flavored ones. it's easiest to cut it with dental floss (plain) just put the string under the log and crisscross pull. about 1/4"- 1/2" slices. dip in beaten egg, dip in panko-type bread crumbs (i put italian seasoning in it, the recipe i used called for parsley) mixed with salt &... -

lolz - i was just putting entries for today into my fitnesspal and i put in taylor ham, because i had a taylor ham, egg n cheese on a hard roll (sp&k) and so many entries for that exact combination were already in there! i'm going to put it in separately (one slice taylor ham = 70 calories x3, fried egg = 80 calories, etc) because i had mine on a gluten... -

don't be so hard on yourself - everybody has setbacks! when i get glutened, i get bummed out and angry, so give it a minute and you will feel better i have 'reset mode' when i feel this way and waiting for the gluten reaction to leave. i have some foods that are my 'go to' foods: plain is better. so, i will not be so adventurous with my meals for awhile... -

happy bday to your hubby and hope he is on the mend!!! mine is back on the road. he was home long enough to finish putting our veggies into the garden (yah. i can't run that rototiller - can you imagine, lolz, 119 lb me trying to hold the beast back.... ) now, as it continues to storm and rain today, i feel better about the purpose of the crappy... -

i use whatever's on sale. (garnier nutriesse, nice n easy, olia, i know i have used) i just don't rinse it in the shower like i used to. i either rinse in the bathtub with a cup or in the sink under the tap. but i don't get sick from walking down the bread aisle. which is why you are super sensitive, i suppose, and other supers may have a better answer...

ARCHIVED Need Help With Foods To Gain Weight
notme replied to Patti J's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
i am still underweight, and i feel like i am eating almost constantly. i find that i have a better idea of how close i get to my target caloric intake by using the app 'fitness pal' - it has a bar code scanner on it if you have a smartphone, just scan the package - or search for foods - the database is pretty large. i am supposed to be eating 2130 calories... -

hormones will mess you up, every time......... or, i can't eat those pre-peeled carrots (even cooked) maybe they rinse them in something i dunno, just my experience. sometimes it's not a 'glutening' vs 'something i can't eat right now' - it takes a minute to know the difference. i know the first year i was gluten-free i was always second guessing where... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Ever Been Glutened By Ground Beef?
notme replied to across's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
never from the beef itself (grass fed or otherwise) but i have done myself in with seasoning blends once or twice. once, we were on vacation and we patted out a ton of burgers (ok, 3 paper plates full) very carefully and then my friend took all the plates and stacked them (so only the top ones weren't cc'd from the kitchen counter) on his way out to...
