  3. no joke... "gluten free" shouldn't be a "subjective" term... another reason for us celiacs to make a lot of noise !
  4. do you live by yourself? luckily my husband can feed maggie (our kitty : ) most of the time. when i do, i wash the hands and have no issues. we did get special all meat/gluten-free treats for me, so i don't have to get up and wash my hands every time i want to give her a treat. i actually got mine at a local "yuppie" dog bakery we recently switched...
  5. Kate- It should include all Marshs. However, products can vary a bit from store to store. However, the woman am I working with at their corporate office said that 99% of the time you can ask that a product carried at another location be carried at your local store. And she said oftentimes we can request totally new products. I will definitely post their...
  6. Hey all- I got this note from my local support group. I took the survey, thought some of you might as well. It is short. Read below: The FDA is holding hearings to determine what the label "gluten-free" will mean in the United States. They have asked for comments from the "gluten-free" public on several questions. The exact questions posed by FDA...
  7. thanks all--it means a lot to me to think i might be able to make celiac a bit easier for a few other out there just like all of you do on this board!
  8. Hi there! My favorite is Deli Selects--Hillshire Farms. The ones that come in the glad containers. I called them and they said their Deli Selects lunch meats are gluten-free. Their info is below if you want to call and ask about other products: Open Original Shared Link
  9. Glad to hear someone had success there. I shall always remember their biscuits fondly. I do think some of those "down-home" places are harder to eat at than others. ...like eating with my husbands grandparents!!! "How could anyone not eat fried chicken!"

    ARCHIVED Anger

Stephanie- Wow--what a story. It's amazing how 'misdiagnosed' we can be !
  11. George- How severe is your anemia? Based on that there are ways you can speed the iron recovery along. Supplements are an option, not my favorite because 9 times out of 10 they constipate. But some are better than others--I recommend paying a little more for a supplement like Slow Fe, that has a coating aimed at preventing digestive issues. It is definitely...
  12. here is some info on legoland, might help you: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link (their gluten-free menu) on LA: Open Original Shared Link You could also ck with the LA celiac support group on restaurant ideas. I have to take off, or I would track down their website for you. Good luck-have a great trip!
  13. I ate some today actually, and no issues. I echo those hear--perhaps an issue with flax or sesame or the soup could definitely be a culprit too. Looks like you'll have to play detective
  14. I echo Kaiti and also recommend the restaurants. It helps if you are having trouble articulating your needs. I bought mine off of Living Without.
  15. That stinks ! I understand I went to the county fair recently and my husband kept looking around at the food going "mmmmm, mmmmmm, mmmmmmmmm! it all looks so good! mmmmmm!" I gave him a look and he asked if it was hard being there, and I said, "It wouldn't be so bad if you'd stop mmmmming!" I definitely bring my own snacks with me to things like that...

    ARCHIVED Anger

I would say there may be some sort of physiological cause, and just a plain emotional one. There can be a tremendous about of stress around this and chronic illnesses are often a cataylst for anger, depression, anxiety etc. Maybe he just needs to be open with you, or maybe at some point he might need to process this all with a counselor ? What helps me...
  17. Barbara- what do they inject their meats with ?
  18. I use Natrol my favorite multiple liquid and get it at Wild Oats or online.
  19. Just wanted to update those of you interested--on my meeting with Marsh Supermarkets. The meeting went great and there are good things in store! ARCHIVED Appetite

Traci- Most of us here do not eat oatmeal--of any form or brand. It is nearly always contaminated. I would steer clear of it altogether. Your other symptoms could be a signs of being 'glutened' by the oatmeal as well. Hope you feel better soon!
  21. i used aveeno some before too--in the winter my skin gets really itchy. some i've used--neutrogena's anti-itch, banana boat after sun lotion... something you might like is a shea butter based lotion--those are typically more thick than runny. now i use california baby's super sensitive lotion, but that would be too runny for you probably...
  22. If you are going to a new dr, or a different one than who did the celiac blood test, take a copy of the results with you. If its the same doc, then don't worry about it...
  23. Gabby- Glad to see your back! Did your surgery go okay?
  24. I think I have a Heinz Horshy sauce at home that I use--I'll have to ck the brand name.
  25. Rachel- Yes, Bare Escentuals is really 'chemical-free'.... some of their products do contain a sunscreen (titanium dixoide), but that seems to be a lesser evil to me than other things... I do not know about their skincare line, only their makeup. And I believe that not all their skincare is gluten-free anyway. So I've only switched to their lipsticks...
