  2. bambam- stick with it girl!! here are some random ideas below. e-mail me again if you like--i have some good recipes. also--i love www.allrecipes.com you can search by category, ingredient and people write in and rate the recipes. ck them out-i'm sure you can get ideas there too. Thai Kitchen--lots of gluten-free thai type dishes...really good. You...
  3. hey there... i used to not be able to tolerate apples...i thought the acidity...but now i can with little issues. if they are bothering you it could be another issue, such as the acidity or fructose. is that the only fruit that bothers you?
  4. dick's gal-- as no gluten suggested...i think you should have your iron cked out. anemia can also make one feel week, and it can affect your heart as well. i had a heart murmur showing up while i was anemic. now that i have normal iron levels--no murmur. it might be worth a try. anemia is fairly common for celiacs too...
  5. ps-- Ian, a great and encouraging story...glad how things have turned out for you!
  6. higgins- glad to see you have the music and another ability to pursue for a career. good luck! to all who have had to quit your jobs... i feel for you, what a hard choice to make... and hope for all of us more and great healing and improvement !
  7. Jen- (I'm Jen too : ) I feel for you girl... I really have to push to get thru the week and take days when I can to recoup... but I guess I am a lucky one, being able to make it work most of the time. I feel guilt in my marriage at times as well. I feel like I read a disappointment from my husband But please don't feel guilty... you health has...
  8. Here is a favorite list of mine Kaiti posts--these companies will NOT hide any form of gluten in their foods--so if you ck the label and there is no gluten listed, it is okay. Not all companies are like this--some will hide gluten. these are mainstream products that will not hide anything. The following labels will list wheat, rye, barley, oats on the label...
  9. Maureen- I am sorry for how you feel! My heart goes out to you... As Richard said, you can have both. The first step is to go totally gluten free. And that means ZERO gluten--not even a smidge--b/c that is enough to make you have to 'start all over again.' Healing and recovery varies from person to person, but I would be hopeful that you will notice...
  10. jcgirl- Wow, I'd kind-of like to see it I was thinking the capsule was often used to diagnose Crohns or IBD. I'm not for positive on that. But I would agree, if you don't get a biopsy out of it, it is probably not a beneficial for a Celiac diagnosis as a regular endoscopy/biopsy.
  11. That's insane that the camera is flashing as it comes out! Seriously?! Hard to imagine
  12. Boy, What's up with all you Quinoa Haters?
  13. I'm down with the Quinoa too (pronounced Kee-wah) I love using it as a pilaf or sub for rice. I'm making it tonight in fact. It is gluten-free.
  14. Chebe is good! Have you had Tinkyada pasta yet? That's my fav...
  15. Actually, its beyond the E Coast now...I've got a case in my fridge now ! There are many here who are grateful for the Bards.... glad you've found it too!
  16. Maya-- It does get easier--but it takes a while for sure Someone here once said--and I think it is a good plumb line for all of us "When in doubt, go without." Hope you feel better soon! (Clam Chowder does sound good though...)
  17. Hey there! I am still eliminating some products from my life and am looking for some heavy duty hand lotions (ie. shea butter perhaps) and some shampoos. I am trying to go as "natural" -- as few ingredients and chemicals as possible. I am using California Baby and like their products, but I wanted to see if there are some others you like... Thanks!
  18. Deb- Good thoughts... And the book--it made me think the same thing... grateful that I have options and the ability to choose where I 'want to go', so to speak...
  19. I agree Carolyn--we each have to draw the line in the sand somewhere. Whew!
  20. Danceswithwolves-- I would say either one of those could be a trigger for Celiac. For some its an illness, a surgery, a pregnancy...there are many...
  21. Frenchie--You cracked me up with that one! That is interesting about Menards. My family has preferred them over Lowe's b/c Lowe's prices are so much more expensive. I may have to rethink that. Perhaps Home Depot is cheaper than Lowes?? I am not a Walmart fan either...but the good thing is their attention to gluten-free living gives us more pull and...
  22. Heather-I forgot I was going to respond to your question too. I had hemmoroids for years and got bleeding fairly often, sometimes with quite a bit of blood. As shimma suggested, the blood was bright red for me...it could be that or fissures perhaps. (Sorry for the grossness But since going gluten-free my C has gone away, and no more bleeding...
  23. this probably isn't much help but the only thing that seems to calm my stomach etc. down is sprite, for some amazing reason. you could try chamomile tea too. i know quite a few peeps here take the anti-D medication. i never have, but it seems to help some. hope you feel better soon!!!
  24. Alexia has great products, fries and mashed potatoes that are frozen. They are gluten-free. You can view here: Open Original Shared Link Marsh, Meijer, Wild Oats sell them.
  25. okay ladies... i got the book, read it, still have a question or two. my reason for tryng the SCD would be b/c of lingering fatigue, fibro symptoms. i do not get D. so, since i have no D, could i just begin the diet from day 1 or do i need to still start in the certain order? and are all of you planning on holding to the diet for 1 year, then reintroducing...
